Chapter 6

Amelia’s POV

When I arrive home, everyone is there.

Dad left work early saying he wants to see me before I go.

Mom closed her flower shop for the afternoon and Trixie… well she’s always here since school had already ended a week ago.

“You still have time for pizza, right?” Trixie’s head popped behind the door and gently opened it before stepping in.

“Of course sis.” I said while putting the last set of clothes to my duffle bag.

We went down the living room and enjoy the pizza with mom and dad.

We talked and laugh and just making the most out of this simple moment with my family.

I know I’m making this move a big deal and an hour drive is not that long and I can just simply visit anytime I want. But that’s not the case.

I already told them that I want to be independent.

I want to make my own choices and maybe, if I’m ready, I will try finding my parents.

But that’s just a maybe.

And so to be independent, I told them that I wont be asking them for help and that I can make it on my own.

Well I’m talking about financial help since my dad had given me an educational plan for my birthday this year.

It’s way past 5 pm when I decided to leave. We were caught up with our chitchat that I forgot to keep track of time.

Dad put all my bags to my car and they all gave me a big hug. We said our goodbyes and hit the road at once.

I am already out of our small town when it started to rain. It was not heavy though but it still made me a little anxious.

To get to the next town, I still have to pass a thirty-kilometer road with nothing but woods. And the rain made it scarier since I am the only one in the road right now.

Our town is small and there are really few to no travelers who visit our place at anytime of the day. So it is already a given that I won’t be seeing anyone passing in the opposite direction throughout the ride.

I turn on the radio to distract me from the eerie feeling I had.

But no matter how loud the music goes, the uneasiness that I am feeling just won’t go away.

I felt like eyes are watching me from outside.

I look at the window and see nothing but the light rain showers, the occasional flashes of lightning, and the dark creepy woods.

I can’t help but think of the thriller movie I’ve watched with Trixie wherein a creepy old man appears in the woods and kills a group of friends who got lost there.

I quickly dismissed the thought and instead think about my plans for tomorrow hoping to get the uncanny feeling I have out of my system.

But no matter how hard I try, I am still having goosebumps and I constantly looking at the window beside me.

Have you got that feeling of being watched?

That was exactly I am feeling right now.

I concentrated more on the road ahead and tried very hard not to give in to my frightened self when suddenly my car slowed down.

I managed to move my car at the side of the road before its engine stops completely.

“Great!” I murmured to myself.

I open my phone, deciding whether to call dad or not.

It’s still quarter to seven and I’m sure he’ll be here if I call him but seeing that the weather is not good, I chose not to call.

So I just sit there not knowing what to do since I know nothing about fixing cars.

And there’s no way I would go out and check the engine.

“Or maybe I could call a car…….. aaahhhh.” I didn’t finish my monologue because a gigantic animal was standing in front of the car.

Is that a wolf?

I covered my mouth as to not cause anything that could give me away.

But it’s too late now.

The wolf has his amber eyes focus on me.

Its stares holds hatred and loath.

I am scared… no, I am way more than that.

I am staring at it wide eyed and I can’t even take my eyes off of it.

I am sweating already and I am palpitating again.

The wolf moves very slowly without leaving my eyes.

And what blows my mind is that as it moves closer to my side of the car, it changes its form.

Oh my God, it literally changes its body form.

I am already crying and I’m barely breathing too. My hand is still on my mouth to refrain myself from making a sound.

I’m too scared that even a single air that goes in my lungs will trigger the wolf.

Now a man is standing at my side of the car with a smirk on his face.

He knocks at the window and motions me to open the door.

And in a most unimaginable scenario, the familiar scent is there again.

The beautiful scent of vanilla and rose had hit my nostrils right at this moment.

To make it weirder, I have this feeling of comfort upon taking in the scent.

Could that be possible?

Then realization kicks in

This was the man in my house during my birthday party.

The scent.

It was him that night.

The man keeps on knocking the door and I can see that he is already impatient.

My eyes were focus on his features now.

It still has its amber eyes, a very strong jawline, a perfectly carve nose.

Unconsciously, my gaze went downward.

This man has a very broad shoulders and a masculine chest.

I couldn’t see his face clearly during the party because of the poor light but his scent made me a hundred percent sure that it was him.

A knock had taken me back from fantasizing this total stranger.

“You can check all of me if you’ll open the door.”

A voice came inside my head.

I furrowed my eyebrows, confused of what was happening.

“I’m all naked down below, wouldn’t you want to check that too?”

My mouth formed an “o” at the realization.

Is he talking to me through my mind?

“Yes I am.”

I think my eyes are about to pop out of its socket as I keep on staring at him wide eye.

“You know I can tear down this car if you won’t come out in this instance.” Still talking in my head.

And I know he means everything he said but I can’t literally move myself.

My heart beats really really fast and I think I’m gonna be sick again with this mixed emotions I am feeling.

I am terrified, excited, and I am actually getting butterflies in my stomach while looking at him.

I was startled with the loud noise and see that the man indeed had able to take out the car door and throw it away with his bare hands.

I tried to moving to the other side of the car but he is quick to hold my arm.

A tingling sensation had once again hit me.

It was a feeling I can’t explain other than being a comfort and relief.

And of course it gives me butterflies all over.

“Look what you made me do.”

He grins devilishly at me.
