Chapter 30
"Is everything ok?" they were on their way back home when Jack noticed Maggie looking through the car window, not blinking.
His question brought her back to reality. "Yeah, I'm just thinking." She sighed, thinking whether to tell him about the unusual encounter with Denis Wade earlier. "That Wade guy, from the reception," Jack hummed, his attention was solely on her. "Well, he approached me on the way back from the restroom. He was kind of drunk, and he kept looking at me like and repeating 'She told me you're dead,' like a crazy person," Maggie mimicked his voice.
Jack squeezed the steering wheel and pressed the gas pedal in a rush to get home as soon as possible. He had a feeling that there was something about his mother-in-law and Denis Wade; he just wasn't sure what exactly.
"I'll go to see her tomorrow, and I'll ask." She said quietly.

Monday afternoon, after he was done with his work in the office, Jack drove to see Rebecca. He couldn't stop thinking about her ever since he got the call. Was it about Wade? The next morning, Maggie woke up just as moody as she was yesterday. She had an urge to just go and leave everything behind, to be alone for a while. But she had a lot of questions that demanded answers, and she was never the type to run away from problems. Maggie believed that problems were like rabid dogs. You can try to run from them and hide, but in the end, the dog will find you and bite you in the ass. So you're better off standing where you are and face the problem.
