I'm not leaving again

After breakfast, I went upstairs to get ready. My step-brothers got me a position in their company as their secretary.

I know they only gave me the post because they wanted to torment me some more. But do I mind? Of course, not. Any job that allows me to meet my stepbrothers every damned time is one I would willingly take with open arms.

“Are you through, baby girl?” Mike called out to me.

“No, I'm not!” I hastily tucked my purple shirt into the black skirt I got last year during my graduation. The skirt has gotten shorter because I somehow filled it out within the year.

I checked my reflection in the mirror and a smile graced my face. I had my blonde hair tied up in a bun. It made my blue eyes stand out. My step-brothers have always told me how much they loved my blue eyes because of how they sparkled.

I wore my black pumps before I took my handbag and I hastened to the door. They were already waiting for me. Dressed in identical blue suits, my step-brothers looked the same. Yet, I could identify them.

My stepfather always spoke of how difficult it was for him to identify each of them, but it has never been a problem for me. I can comfortably identify any of them with my eyes closed.

“You look good, baby girl.” Miles leaned in and kissed me on my right cheek.

I blushed at the endearment as the others did the same. They pecked me on my cheeks, making it seem like I was the only one in the entire world. With the way they dote on me, one would think I was dating them or something like that.

But I know the truth. Ever since I was taken into their wings, my step-brothers have always taken care of me. They didn't care that I wasn't biologically related to them and was neither a wolf nor a mythical creature. They loved me for who I was, and that was why I couldn't help falling for them.

“I'm ready for work, bosses. How do I look?” I turned around so they could check me out.

“You look great!” Mitch gave me a thumbs up as his eyes lingered on my arse, which was filled up because of all the squats I did. Months of doing that exercise paid off — giving me a round, firm butt.

“Why are you staring at my arse?” I folded my arms and acted as if that did not thrill me.

It wasn't every day that you catch your hot stepbrothers checking your arse out. Hell, I won't mind if they wish to check them out some more.

“Your arse looked fleshy,” he said with a shrug, not feeling an ounce of shame. One would have thought he would pretend about it. But he did nothing of that sort. The damned man didn't look guilty at all!

“… Um, thanks.” I smiled at him, happy that they noticed how plump my arse was. This means they notice everything about me.

I turned and headed to the door, knowingly taking the lead, so they could stare at my arse for as long as they wished to.

Mike ran ahead and opened the front door for me. “Father always told us to treat you like a lady,” he explained when I raised a brow at him.

Though we had been separated for years, my step-brothers haven't changed a bit. They were still the way they have been since we were kids, always taking care of me.

I rolled my eyes when Mitch ran over to open the car door for me. I didn't comment because I know the answer they will give.

Back when our father was still alive, he ingrained in them the act of taking care of me. He was always advising them to treat me like a lady, while he asked me to relax and enjoy the baby treatments.

I sniffed. I miss the old man.

“Come on, baby. Your coach is ready, milady,” Mitch said as he mock bowed.

With a light chuckle, I entered the car, and he followed suit. Mike got in through the other side, caging me between them as Miles sat on the driver's seat.

Miles has always been the driver. But when our father was still alive, he sat in the passenger seat while Mitch and Mike tried to smoulder me between them.

“It has been long since we have spent this much time together,” Miles said as he glanced back at me through the middle window.

I nodded. “Yeah, it has.”

“Are you going to leave again?” Mitch asked.

“Why will I?” I smiled. "Didn't I ask for a position in your company? I'm not going anywhere."

Had their mate still been with them, I would have left this morning. However, with the slot of their mate open, I wasn't ready to leave until I'd competed for the spot.

“You seem too knowledgeable about running away.” Miles chuckled. “Well, we are glad you are back to stay.”

A look passed between the brothers, confusing the hell out of me as I wondered what it might mean. I could tell they were keeping something from me, but I don't know how I could ask them what that was.

I leaned on Mitch's shoulder and closed my eyes while Mike took my right hand in his and threaded his fingers with it. I smiled.

This was similar to how it was when we were kids. My brothers love physical contact. But all that stopped when they met their mate. I lost my brothers to a woman who didn't fight for them.

All she had to do was be their mate, and that was all.

Now, I wasn't willing to let them go without a fight this time around. Any woman who might try to take them from me would have to pass through my fists because I wasn't ready to let go. I did that years ago, but not anymore.

“I won't leave again,” I affirmed, in case they still don't believe me. “Not even if you ask me to leave. I'm going nowhere.”
