2 - Moving On

CRYSTAL'S POV

TWO YEARS AGO

It was a good morning for me because I just started my business and it was going well. I lived near the mountain side of the town so I had to pass through a lonely path to get to my cafe shop faster.

Nothing much was expected on this day except that it looked like it would rain. I took my umbrella and a raincoat with me just in case. I was ready to go to work and I passed the usual lonely shortcut. There was a river down the mountain side.

I pass through that river to work everyday. I normally don't look at how dirty the river was. But I tripped and fell on the floor. My clothes were a bit dirty so I wanted to wash them with some water. What I didn't expect was to see a human lying down on the ground close to the river.

I got scared at first and screamed. I fell back on the floor, my eyes widened in shock.

"Who is this? What is he doing here? Is he dead?" I asked no one in particular.

I was going to run away and call for help but I decided against it. I went closer to the stranger. It was a man, he looked so good even though his head was bleeding. His skin looked so good.

But most importantly, I wanted to see if he was alive. I put my finger on his nose and it was somehow warm. I tried to wake him up.

"Excuse me! Excuse me... Are you okay? Can you hear me?" I asked him.

I moved my face closer to his, secretly admiring his beauty. His eyes suddenly fluttered open and I screamed, moving away from him. He was alive after all.

"Oh my God! I should call an ambulance and the police!" I brought out my phone, trying to call someone.

He suddenly kicked the phone off my hand. It startled me, I wanted to run away from him. Why is he doing this?

"I was only trying to help you? Why would you do that? I should just leave you and mind my business!"

I turned to leave but my leg was refrained from moving. I looked down and saw him holding on to my leg. I will get a heart attack from him at this point.

"What do you want from me you psychopath? I should have just left you! You are injured but you are acting crazy!"

"Please... take me with you." He pleaded, making me hear his soft voice for the first time.

I felt sorry for him so I took him home. I called a doctor to treat him and waited for him to get better after a few days. Once he got better, I asked about him and where he came from. He said he doesn't remember anything.

I asked everyone in the town and no one knew who he was. It seemed like he got into an accident a while earlier. I tried getting some info from social media by taking his picture but to no avail. I felt sorry for him.

The only thing with him was a gold chain and wristwatch. I didn't even know if it was real gold. I checked the watch and saw a name. ALEXANDER H. I figured his name might be Alexander.

A few months later, I moved to the city to help him find his family. I also found a job and was able to live through it. It was hard for me to find his family as all we had was his name. The police didn't find his identity, it was hard for me to convince them he wasn't an illegal immigrant.

I was thought that maybe he came from abroad and he will find his family once he regains his memory. He was scared I would abandon him. I could not do that to him so I let him live with me continuously.

We soon got attracted to each other and entered a relationship. He was the sweetest person I'd ever met in my life. I didn't wish for anything more. I continued to look for his family while we got married.

Strangely enough, I got him the surname Hunter and we registered our marriage with that. We loved each other a lot, our neighbours were always jealous of us.

BACK TO THE PRESENT

My son is everything I have now. I am orphan who lost my parents and grandparents to an accident some years back. Everyone thought I was cursed but I now I think they are right.

The only reason I am still alive now is for my son. I will do anything to be with him. I won't lose him too.

SOME MONTHS LATER

I moved on with my life. My child William is now walking and all the backlash is gone. I would have loved to have a much paying job with my school certificate but it's so hard.

I see the news everyday about how Alexander is happy and taking the business world by storm. I expect him to be married now.

"Crystal, what are you thinking about? You are pouring coffee on the table." Someone called out to me, bringing me back from my reverie.

I quickly looked down and saw that I was pouring coffee on the table. I immediately used something to wipe it.

"Thanks a lot Lyra." I said to her with a smile.

Lyra is my child's nanny. She comes to pick up William whenever she is on duty. She is probably here to pick William up. She is the only person William allows carry her aside from me. My son cries when he is with other people.

"William... baby your nanny is here to pick you up." I carried up him towards Lyra.

Lyra smiled on seeing him, "Oh... look at my adorable baby. Come to Nanny."

William willingly let Lyra carry her while he muttered some words.

"Nana..." He called her.

"Thanks a lot for coming Lyra. You have no idea how you're helping me." I thanked her.

She smiled, "Come on Crystal. You have such a lovely son. I don't care about the job. I really like him."

Lyra took William away and I was able to quickly prepare coffee for my customers that arrived.
