As soon as I hit the floor, I felt a jolt of pain shoot up my spine, and it took a moment for me to realise that my glasses had slipped off in the chaos. The world around me suddenly became a blur, and I knew I had to find my glasses fast. As I scrambled on the ground, I heard a man's voice apologise for bumping into me.
"Sorry it's my fault you fell, are you looking for something?" the man asked.Judging by the deep timber of his voice, I imagined him to be a tall, well-built man. I couldn't help but wonder where he was running to when he collided with me. I reached out and felt the man's outstretched hand. He helped me stand, and I could see a blurry outline of his figure."I'm looking for my glasses, they fell," I explained."Don't worry, I'll get it for you," he replied kindly. As I watched the blurry figure bend down and pick up something from the ground, I hoped it was my glasses. Luckily, it was. "Here, take them," he said, extending his hand towards me.I reached out to take them, but when I tried to put them on, I found it difficult to wear my glasses.I heard his voice once again, breaking through the silence that had settled. "Do you need my help with your glasses?" he asked, and I'm taken aback by the sound of it. I didn't even realise he was still here, but I'm grateful for the offer."Yes, if you don't mind," I replied, trying to hide the excitement in my voice."I don't mind. It's my fault it fell down anyway," he said with a smile, and I felt myself blush a little.I hand him my glasses, and he gently takes them from me, inspecting them for a moment before carefully placing them back on my face. As soon as they're on, I can see properly again, and I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. As soon as my gaze lands on him, my breath catches in my throat. He's towering over me, at least a foot taller than my petite five-foot-two frame, his features are a perfect mix of rugged and refined, with a strong jawline and prominent cheekbones that could cut glass. His hair is jet black and styled in a tousled, just rolled out of bed look that somehow manages to be both effortless and sophisticated at the same time. But it's his eyes that really steal the show. They're a piercing grey, almost otherworldly, and they seem to shift in colour from blue to green with every turn of his head. They're framed by long, dark lashes, giving them a dramatic effect. I can't help but feel a little envious of those eyes, especially since my own are just a plain shade of blue. All in all, he's undeniably attractive, and it's hard not to feel like he's a work of art come to life."Thanks for your help," I say, feeling a little flustered."Of course, anytime," he says, and I can't help but notice how his eyes crinkle at the corners when he smiles."Can you see properly now?" he asked."Yes," I replied, feeling grateful for his assistance. Lost and with no one else around, I decided to ask for his help to find my way to the VIP lounge. "Excuse me, do you work here?" I asked, raising my voice slightly to make sure he heard me. The guy appeared perplexed by my question, looking around as if searching for someone else. "Are you talking to me?" he asked, looking genuinely confused. I scanned the area, but there was no one else present. "Yes, I'm talking to you. Do you work here?" I repeated my query. He hesitated for a moment before answering, "You could say that."He agreed to guide me to the VIP lounge, but as we walked, he struck up a conversation. "So, I assume you're here for the concert?" he asked. "Yes, I am," I confirmed. "Are you a fan, or did someone drag you along?" he probed further. I decided to keep my response brief, "I'm here with my sister." As we continued walking, he kept up the small talk, making me wonder if he was intentionally stalling. I didn't want to come across as rude, but I also didn't want to engage in a lengthy conversation. I fished through my pocket, hoping to find my phone to give the impression that I was occupied. However, all I found were my earphones. I put them on, hoping he would get the hint that I wanted some quiet time. After putting on my earpiece, silence surrounds us for a while. I start to wonder if we're lost or if we've walked too far, considering that we haven't arrived at the VIP lounge yet. After a few minutes, I'm startled by the sound of his voice. "What's your name?" he asks, breaking my trance. I pretend to be engrossed in my music, mouthing the words to a random song. I feel a twinge of guilt for my rudeness, but I just can't muster the energy to talk."I can tell you're not listening to music," he says with a chuckle. I sheepishly remove my earpiece and offer an apologetic smile. "I'm sorry, I'm just really tired and I didn't want to seem mean," I explained."It's actually a nice change of pace," he replies with a warm smile. "People are always trying to talk to me, and it's been a while since I've been on the other side of that." I notice his charming smile once again, which seems to light up his face even more.As I try to make sense of his earlier statement, he picks up on my puzzled expression and rushes to clarify"I work with Hayden Thorne, the famous musician, and because of my connection to him, people are always trying to get closer to me to try and meet him." "What's your name?" he asks,"Avery Anderson," I respond with a smile,"You have a beautiful smile," he compliments me, and I feel my cheeks flush. "Thanks, what's your name?" I ask him."I'm Jason," he says, and I can't help but notice how his emerald green eyes sparkle when he speaks. "Looks like we're here," he adds, nodding towards the VIP lounge.I follow his gaze and see the lounge just a few steps away. "Thanks for helping me, Jason," I say, grateful for his kindness."Don't worry, it was nice talking to you. I've got to go, I'm already late," he says with a hint of regret in his voice. And just like that, he runs off in the opposite direction, leaving me wondering about the mysterious stranger who brightened up my day.As soon as I enter the lounge, I see Eva frantically talking on her phone, looking distressed. "He wasn't there Dad I basically searched the whole place, but it's like he vanished into thin air," she says with a hint of panic in her voice. I can hear uncle Steve's muffled voice on the other end, but with the crowd's increasing noise level, it's hard to make out what he's saying.Eva looks up and spots me. "Avery, where did you go?" she asks,"Just wanted to check out the place," I reply, trying to play it cool."The concert was supposed to start a while ago. I wonder where Hayden is," Eva says with a worried look on her face. Suddenly, her expression changes, and before I know it, she jumps up and starts screaming with excitement. "Hayden's on stage!" she exclaims, and the whole stadium erupts into cheers."Well, I'm going to head to the back," I say, eager to distance myself from the frenzy. "Okay," Eva replies, too distracted to pay much attention. I find a seat in the back and pull my hoodie over my head, slipping my glasses into my pocket. I'm exhausted, and before I know it, I've dozed off."Avery, wake up, wake up!" Eva's voice jolted me awake."Give me five more minutes, Eva," I mumbled, still drowsy. "We don't have five minutes," she replied urgently, shaking me. I opened my eyes and looked around. The stadium was already clearing out; the concert must be over."Why are your eyes so red and your face swollen?" Eva asked."It's probably because I just woke up," I replied, my voice thick with sleep.Eva hands me a bottle of water. "Hayden is already on his way here, and I don't want him to see you looking like this,go to the bathroom and rinse your face."As I shuffled to the bathroom, I couldn't help but wonder why Eva was so insistent on me looking my best in front of Hayden. When I reached the bathroom, I quickly splashed water on my face and put my glasses on to avoid my eyes hurting again.I made my way back to the lounge, and as I approached Eva, I saw her chatting with someone. That must be Hayden, I thought to myself. As I reached her, I tapped her on the back, and she turned to face me."Avery, you're here, you look a little better. Anyway, let me officially introduce you to Hayden Thorne," Eva said, gesturing towards the man she was talking to.I turned to face Hayden and froze. My smile faltered, and my heart skipped a beat. It was Jason. Hayden Thorne was Jason.Jason's face contorts into a mix of shock and disbelief when he sees me. He quickly masks his expression with a practised smile, but I can see the surprise lingering in his eyes."Your sister has been telling me all about how you're my fan," he says. I furrow my brows in confusion, turning to Eva for an explanation. She meets my gaze with a glint of mischief in her eyes, her grip on my hands almost painful. "Don't be shy," she says, her voice dripping with false sweetness. "I've told him everything about how you've always had a crush on him since we were teenagers, and about his posters in your room. You used to talk about how you wanted to marry him in the future." I feel the blood rushing to my cheeks, a mix of embarrassment and anger coursing through me. I shake off Eva's grip,"I think I get the message," I mumble to Eva, my voice cold and controlled. Eva looks at me as if she feels sorry and faces Hayden. "Actually, the only reason I agreed to meet you was because Avery pestered
I'm awoken by a loud clatter in the kitchen. I sluggishly get out of bed, slip on my glasses, and check the time on my phone. It's around 9 am, so I figure Eva must be here. As I head to the living room, I catch a glimpse of Eva foraging through the fridge. Still peeved with her, I retreat to my room, freshen up with a quick shower and teeth brushing. After donning a comfy hoodie and yoga pants, and slipping on my favourite fuzzy slippers, I start working on my project. Just as I'm about to hit send, my belly grumbles, making me realise it's already 1 pm. Time does fly when you're doing something you enjoy. I decide to take a break and whip up some pancakes, as the thought of my stomach devouring itself is unbearable. I head to the kitchen, wondering if Eva is still lurking about. I quickly get to mixing the pancake batter and in no time, the fluffy stacks are ready. I serve myself and grab a cup of OJ. Sitting on the couch, I turn on the TV and am thrilled to see Modern Family pl
"Eva, what are you doing here with a suitcase?" I asked."Well, remember how I said I was going to make it up to you?" Eva replied."Yes," I said, still a bit confused."Remember how you told me you've always wanted to travel to Toronto? I booked a ticket for us to go there," Eva explained. I've always wanted to travel, and Toronto is one of the places I've been dying to visit. But I've always been so busy studying during high school and college. After I graduated, I was just focused on starting up my graphic design business, so I put travelling on the back burner. I'm really excited about this surprise. I didn't even think she could do something like this for me. Eva and I are close, but not that closeWith a smile on my face, I said, "Thanks so much, Eva. That's a wonderful surprise." I walked over to the couch, and Eva looked at me, still smiling. "See, I told you I'd make it up to you."As I sat down beside her, she reached out for a hug. "So, does that mean I'm forgiven now?" Eva s
When I realize Eva's screaming I bolt from the bed and run immediately to the living room when I get there I see Eva looking at something on her phone."Eva what happened, are you okay, why were you screaming",I asked worriedly."I'm just really excited",Eva said as she put her phone directly in my face"See,I'm currently one of the most searched actress right now on Google and it's all because of that article".I remove Eva phone from my face and look at the article on her phone, that's when i see the headline"A budding romance between Singer Hayden Thorne and Actress Eva stone"I mumble, seeing the headline I can't help but feel a little jealous and I don't even know why. I don't bother reading the rest cause I don't want to strain my eyes so I just focus on the pictures,I see the picture of Eva with Jason and her hands on her chest after the concert,Jason dropping me off at my apartment in his car but I can't be seen so it's only his face showing,Eva hugging him in front of my apartment w
"What are you doing here, Jason?" I asked, taken aback by his sudden appearance."Wait, let me help you up first," Jason said, extending his hand to me. As I took it, he pulled me up with such force that I had to close my eyes."Are you okay?" Jason asked, concern etched on his face."I'm okay," I said, opening my eyes. I couldn't help but notice how close we were. Normally, I would have backed away, but for some reason, I found myself wanting to stay close to him. I looked into Jason's eyes, and to my surprise, he seemed to be getting closer. Was he about to kiss me? My heart raced with anticipation, and before I could push him away, a man's voice interrupted."Get a room!" the man shouted, causing us to awkwardly step apart.Jason cleared his throat. "So, what are you doing here?" he asked."Didn't I ask you that first?" I replied with a smile, trying to shake off the strange tension that had just passed between us.Jason lifts his hand to tousle his hair, flashing a sheepish smile
I walked over to the shelf where Jason was trying to hide from me. He must have sensed that something was off, but I wasn't about to let him slip away. I positioned myself directly opposite him, casting a shadow on his hiding spot."I wonder where Jason is," I said loudly enough for him to hear. "I'm not sticking around if he doesn't show up in the next five minutes." I heard some shuffling from behind the shelf, so I knew he was still there. "Finally decided to show yourself, huh?" I mumbled under my breath. As I was about to leave the store , I heard Jason call out my name. "Avery," he said, "took you long enough"I mumble. I spun around to face him, and I could finally make out his face now that he'd removed his sunglasses and nose mask."Were you about to leave?" he asked, trying to play it cool. But I knew exactly what he'd done, and I wasn't about to let him off the hook that easily."Yeah, I was looking for you, but I couldn't find you," I said, flashing him a smile "And to make
Jason and I pull apart, still in shock from our unexpected kiss. I hide my face in Jason's chest, feeling my cheeks burn with embarrassment. "Avery, come on, look at me," Jason urges me.I realise that I can't hide forever and reluctantly pull away from him. "Oh my God, what just happened?" I think to myself. "I can't believe I kissed him like that.""Avery, come on," Jason interrupts my thoughts. "We need to talk about what just happened." Instead of owning up to my actions like a responsible and mature adult, what do I do? I completely submerged myself underwater. Jason bursts into laughter, and who could blame him? First, I bury my face in his chest, and then I disappear underwater like the Little Mermaid. What is wrong with my brain? "Avery, come up. You can't stay underwater forever. You'll eventually need to breathe," Jason says with a grin. I can hear the amusement in his voice once more. He must think I'm a complete idiot. Who wouldn't?"Okay, I can do this," I thought to myse
I just have to think about it, whether to confide in Eva or not. Jason releases his grip, and I remove my hands from his shoulder. "Jason, I really like you too. But, I'm not sure how this will affect Eva," I confess while gazing at him.Jason's face illuminates with delight when I reveal my feelings for him. He appears oblivious to the fact that I'm uncertain about sharing my emotions with Eva. Suddenly, he lifts me up and spins me around, embracing me. "You don't know how happy it makes me to know that you like me too," he exclaims."I know, I can see it on your face. I'm happy too, but I need to think about it," I responded. However, Jason's smile fades, and he looks sad and confused. "What do you need to think about?" he inquires."Eva, you know she likes you, right?" I replied. "Eva? It's about her. I know she likes me, but it's complicated. There are some things you don't know," Jason explains.I'm baffled by what he means when he says it's complicated. "I don't understand," I s
