I was so happy to be back home at my pack finally. Victoria seemed content to be close to me, and I was pleased to find my good friend, Helen, nearby. She would help Victoria settle in, and they could become good friends.
I knew that Victoria was timid, and inside I was furious at how badly she had been treated. That would never happen to her again. Not ever. Helen knocked on my office door, and I permitted her to enter. She bowed as soon as she came in. “How is she?” I looked up from my paperwork to see Helen looking extremely uncomfortable. “Alpha Alex, I do not know how to tell you this. But Victoria seems to be upset. She thinks that she should not be entitled to any of this. What is going on?” Helen exclaimed, taking a seat opposite me. I threw the pen down, sat back and sighed, rubbing my forehead. It did not surprise me since she had been through hell and back at that sorry excuse of a pack. “I will go and see her.” I stood up and went to leave the office. Helen followed me out, and we both looked up, surprised to see Victoria looking tearful. She was clutching her bag. “What is going on?” I demanded to know since it looked like she wanted to leave. “I am sorry; I didn’t want to be in the way.” She said feebly, and I growled. I instantly felt terrible since she shook with fear and began to cry. Helen gave me a look and immediately went to hug my mate. I was not sure how to handle this situation without getting mad. I wanted to go back and rip that pack apart for every bad thing that they had forced my poor mate to go through. At least she was safe here with me now. Nobody would hurt her. “You are safe here, Victoria,” I assured her, and she looked up at me with huge saucer eyes. “Alpha Alex is right. You are safe here, and we will look after you. Would you like to grab some food with me? We can chat?” Helen suggested with a big friendly smile. I could always rely on Helen to help with anything. She was a great friend, and I appreciate her, especially now. “Yes, please. If that is ok?” Victoria turned to me as if waiting for my approval. “You do not need my permission, my dear. Go have fun, and I will see you shortly.” I told her, and she broke into a smile which pleased me to see. Helen nodded and led Victoria away. Now I was going to find my beta and devise a plan to get revenge on that horrible pack. They would pay for what they had done!Everything was different here at the Blue Creek pack; everything was just the complete opposite of the place that I had grown up calling my home. I did not miss that place, not one tiny bit. Helen was kind to me, and when we sat down to eat, it was strange not being the one to serve and do all of the runnings about. I felt slightly out of place, but Helen reassured and comforted me. “Do you want to be friends?” I asked her sheepishly and then felt like an idiot for asking something stupid. She smiled warmly and nodded her head eagerly. “Of course. We can be friends. I would love that.” Helen shoved a forkful of food into her mouth, causing me to let out a chuckle. When I looked up, my eyes went straight to Alex; his smile was distracting. The old lady standing beside him made me almost fall out of my seat. Helen shoved her plate away and tended to me caringly. “What is it?” she exclaimed. That woman with my mate. Why did she l
Alex’s POV I had decided that it was best to call upon the elders for what would be the next best step to take. I could not just allow them to get away with the sickening treatment that they had enforced on my Victoria. It made me so angry to think of her curled up in a ball, scared and unable to do anything about the horrendous things they had done to her. With the phone in my hand and about to call the elders, I was stopped by a knock at the door; then, a stranger barged in. I was amazed when this old lady entered my office with my beta. "What is going on?" I stared at the old lady, confused, and waited for an answer. She was old with greying hair and thick glasses on the edge of her bumpy nose. Her eyes were wide and brown. The thick black coat that she was wearing looked as old as she did. Something about her made me think of Victoria; she reminded me of her. "Who are you?" I asked her. She smiled at me and sat in my armchair in th
My grandmother. She looked so kind and caring, but I also had so many questions. Like why now? After all these years, why come and find me now? How did she know I was here? This was so messed up for me. My whole mind was about to burst with unprocessed information. “Come on now, let’s go for a walk. We can talk.” She said, and I looked to Alex for assurance. He gave me a nod and took my hand. We went out to the main grounds, where it was peaceful, there were not many others around, and Alex led us to a small patioed area with deck chairs and a table with an umbrella to shield us from the burning sunshine. The birds chirping away in the treetops and the distant sound of children playing in the play area made me smile. “Let me start by saying I am sorry for the sudden intrusion. My name is Ethel. You are my granddaughter; my daughter is your mother. Many years ago now, you were just a baby, and you were taken from us.” She started to say.
Alex’s POV I left Victoria with Ethel and asked Helen to monitor them closely. I had to make an important phone call and did not want to be disturbed unless it were an emergency. The fact that Victoria's grandmother had come onto the scene changed everything. I was devastated for my mate that she had gone through so much. Did it bother me that she had witch blood pumping through her veins? Not. I loved her with every ounce of my body. One day very soon, she would be my Luna and carry my pups. Picking up the phone, I rang Edward, one of the elders and informed him of my problem. I would not allow that pack to go on and get away with treating their members so ill. I could not imagine myself running such a poor pack and treating any one of them in that disgusting way. To say that Edward was not happy was an understatement. He shared the same disappointment as me. No way would I allow Eliza to become my Luna, especially no
I was still processing everything in my mind when I got out of the shower and wrapped a towel around my wet body. I then wrapped a towel around my wet hair and stared at my reflection in the mirror. I felt so lucky that I was no longer at that horrible pack house chasing after everyone else’s wants and needs—no more cleaning and worrying about when I would next get a meal or a beating. Alex was the most fantastic mate that I could ever want. He was my best friend growing up, and I hated when he was taken from me, but I thanked the moon goddess that he had come back to me and saved my life. The thought of him being paired with Eliza as chosen mates made me want to throw up; she did not deserve him. He was mine. The fact that my grandmother had appeared out of nowhere and I was being told all these things about my past made me full of many questions. Those that I had believed to be my parents? Who were they? Had they been the ones w
To say I was furious was an understatement. How dare this filthy she-wolf appear on my territory and try to belittle my Luna. Victoria was worth a million of her. Did this Eliza genuinely believe I could love her and reject my mate? Her father tried to sell her off to me; he was as foolish and disgusting as his daughter. “He was with me the other night.” Eliza suddenly screamed with a giant smirk on her stupid face. Everyone fell silent. I looked from Eliza to Victoria. The way she looked at me made my wolf whimper with such pain. There was no way that she could believe that crap. “What?” I heard Victoria whisper, her voice shaky and weak. “Victoria, please calm down. She is nothing. She is a liar.” I gasped when I saw her beautiful eyes flash amber and then black, her skin turned pale white, and she waved her arms around her, chanting some words like she spoke a different language. I turned to Ethel help
Victoria’s POV I woke up in bed wondering how I got there. I did not recall anything. My mind was just like a blank canvas. The door was knocked, causing me to jump out of my skin. “Good morning, beautiful Victoria. How are you doing?” Alex. I laid back in the bed and felt my body at ease as I realised it was him. He made me feel safe. I liked to be around him. “What happened?” I frowned as he came over and gently touched my forehead. I felt nothing but realised a plaster was across my head. “You fainted, and your head hit the ground. The doctor said that you were going to be just fine. Victoria, do you recall the conversation beforehand?” He rested his eyes on me and pursed his lips together, waiting for me to respond. I shook my head and shrugged my shoulders. “No, I don’t remember?” I sighed, wishing that I could remember whatever it was that he was talking to me about. “Ok, let me explain.” He took my hands in his an
Alex’s POV I hated that Eliza had been on my land and dared to frighten my mate, my Luna. Who did she think that she was? Did she believe that I would choose her over my fated mate? Stupid fool. Now she had escaped with the help of some joke within my pack. She would be sorry; they all would. That was a promise. How dare anyone treat me like a fool and go behind my back like that. Once my men had found her, she would deal with me. Eliza would never be Luna material. I would die for my mate and my pack. She was nothing to me, just a crazy whore. “Ethel, what do you suggest?” I asked my mate's grandmother as we entered my office and sat down to discuss things while Victoria rested upstairs. I had my beta go and check on her regularly; I liked to ensure that she was ok. Well, I..” Ethel started to say, but my mind was suddenly elsewhere. “Alpha, Victoria is not in the bedroom, and her clothes are gone.” My beta came through the mind link to
