Chapter Four

“An Omega? Is this meant to be a joke?” Grey said to himself, staring at the window.

“I’ve made my findings and that’s what it presents, your mate is an omega." Theo; the man Grey sent to make Inquiries said.

Grey sighed and chuckled, was the goddess trying to play a prank on him? Does she spite him that much? His thoughts ran wild but he hid all these underneath his cold and stoic look, there was no way he'd let anyone see him worried or tensed. He inhaled deeply and exhaled sharply.

"Go do your inquiries once more, ensure that you make no mistakes." Grey ordered.

Theo shook his head and insisted on his conclusion.

"I followed her just as you said I should. I couldn't have been mistaken, I have been doing things like these for years and finding someone's identity or rank is the least of my expertise, I can not be wrong about that." Theo argued.

He prided himself in his work and making a mistake meant his fame and skills would drastically decrease, if he would make a mistake it would definitely not be concerning an assignment given to him by the most powerful Alpha in all the lands. This would not only put his prowess to the test but also pose a risk to his life because lying to the alpha or misleading him was a crime which was punishable by death.

But Grey still couldn't believe it, how would he believe it?

"Where is she from?" Grey asked, he began today think.of ways he would hide her identity as an Omega.

He knew it her alpha was a small fry then he'd use his powers to keep him shut forever and no one would know about it.

"She's from the Omega pack." Theo announced.

Grey almost spat out blood, was this a sham to make a mockery of him? The Omega pack?

"The Omega pack?" Grey exclaimed.

"Yes, alpha Grey." Theo affirmed.

Grey scoffed loudly and threw his hands up in the air. The goddess was all out to make a public show of him, if not why would he be mated to a girl who arose from the same people he had rusticated from his pack?

"Are you sure it's her?" Grey asked, he desperately wanted the information to be false and that there was a mistake somewhere but his hopes were soon shattered.

"It's the exact girl you gave me her description that I made inquiries about, you pointed her out to me personally so I can't make a mistake unless you had pointed to the wrong girl." Theo said in his defense.

Grey shot him a deadly glare and he knew at that moment that he had spoken too much and made a mistake, who was he to insinuate that Grey had made a mistake?

"Are you trying to call me a fool?" Grey asked.

Theo fell to his knees and begged for mercy.

"I dare not." Theo muttered.

Grey was infuriated by the goddess's choice of a mate for him, the man in front of him simply did his job.

"You may leave, speak of his to no one." Grey ordered sternly.

Theo was grateful that he had escaped a near death sentence he scurried out of the place whe processing his gratitude. Grey inhaled deeply once more, after angrily swearing to the council of elders that he'd find his mate he journeyed out of the pack. If his mate was a member of the pack he would have sensed it already so he left.

He visited few packs whom were more than delighted to receive him but he kept his mission to himself and was continually disappointed when he didn't find his mate among them. He went hunting in the woods far away from the recent pack he visited and saw a girl chasing after bunnies. She looked beautiful and innocent.

Grey had stopped to admire her and chuckled at her innocence and childish behavior, he was about to leave as he had other things to do when he felt a tug at his heart, his heart raced fast and he perspired heavily. His wolf began to howl in his head and it wasn't for pain but excitement. He suddenly got attracted to the girl and had to control the urge to pounce on her and just mark her right there.

He fought internally with his wolf who was trying to take control and Mark he girl, it was then he discovered that his wolf had sensed his mate and was getting restless. No wonder she smelt like lavender and spices mixed together. He was excited he had found his mate and he tried to reason with his wolf. Before he could be at peace with himself the girl had disappeared.

He tried looking for her and saw her at a detached hut and he was surprised as at why she was living all alone there, he desperately wanted to approach her but his senses override his desires. Hence he hurried back to his pack and requested for the services of Theo. He took him to the detached hut and pointed out the girl to him as there were few other girls with her as well and two men.

He needed to know her identity and everything about her before he proceeds to court or even mate with her and the feedback he got shook him. How would he face the entire world who knew of his hatred towards omegas that his mate was one? How would he face his parents in death of he continues their bloodline with someone from the clan of he who murdered them?

"No!" Grey yelled to himself.

He clenched his fists in anger and went to the training ground, no guards were there so he practiced his swordsmanship until nightfall, his anger and pain fueled him and he kept practicing even until the blade cut him and his blood dripped to the ground. His guards were horrified seeing him in that position but no one dared move closer to him.

Grey finally dropped the sword and walked back to his chambers. He took a cold bath and tried to organize his thoughts as the girl's face seemed to invade his sleep and give him restless nights. Since the goddess had decided to humiliate him he decided to do things his way, she mated him to an Omega and now he'd make her pay.
