Chapter 9

Anna

I had a restless night, tossing and turning, as my mind was preoccupied with that despicable man. How could he have done this to me? Who does he think he is? One moment, he's kissing me, and the next, he's off screwing someone else. Recalling the kiss now fills me with embarrassment and makes me feel foolish for having fallen for his deception. "Damn you, Dante," I muttered as I drew myself out of bed and headed for a refreshing shower.

After my shower, I made my way to the dining area for breakfast. There, I ran into a fellow lodger who went by the name Matteo. "Good morning, Mat," I greeted him, trying to shake off the bitter mood that had been brought on by Dante's betrayal.

"Well, well, well," Matteo responded with a sly grin. "Looks like someone woke up on the right side of the bed."

I was in no mood for his playful banter. "Just cut the crap, Matteo. I don't have time for your cheekiness this morning."

But Matteo's laughter echoed through the hallway, making me realize that
