CHAPTER 55: A Hut in the woods

Callista’s POV

As I moved closer to the hut, my heart didn’t stop thumping loudly. It’s like performing a solo concert. I could feel the echoes in my chest.

“Let’s go in.” I heard Maya’s voice, soothing my trembling body and soul.

As I got to the entrance, I whipped my head to the side outside the hut, trying to see if I could get something I could use to attack, if it's probably a rogue or a vampire that resides in the hut. Luckily, I found a wooden plank lying on the side. I picked it up, reached for the creaky wooden door, and pushed it open with the tip of my finger.

The door was slightly pushed backward, and the hinges barely made a whisper, as if conspiring with me to make my presence unknown to anyone who might be inside.

I peered inside the hut to see if I could catch a glimpse of anyone around. My heart flew off when I saw something on the floor. It was made entirely of woven vines.
