I ignore the pounding of my heart as I eye him. No, it's not possible. This man here possibly can't know me and Alex's history.

I feel the telltale prickle of nervousness in my under arms. Jared flashes me a wide smile. "I just had to see that for myself". My mouth tightens into a line and I jut my chin defiantly.

"And have you seen what you wanted to see?". I ask coldly. It's a surprise when he bursts into outright laughter. I feel my nerves fray at him in annoyance but I maintain my poise and stare him down coldly.
