Chapter 6 Broken Car

A few minutes later, Queenie was done packing. She came out of the room while Nox was still standing in the living room, acting like he was an amnesiac.

"Let's go, amnesiac." Queenie picked up her suitcase and left the house without looking at Nox. She muttered, "This is all your fault. My family wouldn't have thought I was a… Now, how should I explain myself?"

Queenie sighed. She came to a white Mini parked outside the house and placed her suitcase in the trunk. "Get in," she said.

Nox grunted and got into the car. It was pink inside and smelled nice.

Queenie got in a moment later. "It's your lucky day. You're the first man to grace my car."

Nox secretly chuckled, but he said nothing.

"We should get back to the city now." Queenie revved up the car and drove away.

On the way back, she listened to the radio while Nox closed his eyes and ran his inner energy around his body to heal himself up.

Queenie would sometimes steal a glance at Nox. He had a handsome face, twinkling eyes, and an aquiline nose. "He'd be the perfect prince if not for his amnesia. It'd be alright if he could be my boyfriend."

The thought of having a relationship filled Queenie with sadness. She thought, 'A boyfriend? Me? I'm just a tool my family is using to marry me to Centersea's heir. I have no right to choose who to marry.'

Queenie smiled bitterly and shook the depressing thoughts away. She kept her eyes on the road. It would take at least five hours to reach Riverton from where they were.

Right before they got onto the highway, a bang echoed in the air. The car's engine was rattling, and then black smoke billowed from the hood.

"What's going on?" Shocked, Queenie stopped the car at the shoulder of the road and got out to check the car. She pushed up the hood, and black smoke gushed out like a geyser.

Queenie choked on the smoke and coughed, making her scramble backward. "Oh no. My car's busted." She stared at the engine. It was still making a weird nose, and smoke was still going up. Queenie was at a loss.

They were in the middle of nowhere, and there was no mechanic nearby. She had no idea how to repair a car either.

'What now?' she thought.

"Just my luck. It just has to break down now." In her fury, Queenie kicked her car.

Nox got out of the car. "What's wrong?"

Still in a bad mood, Queenie didn't look at Nox. "Can you stop talking?"

He stood still and said nothing, making her realize that she might've been a bit harsh. He wasn't the one to fault for her car's breakdown.

Eventually, Queenie said, "My car's busted. I'm not in a good mood, so don't take it to heart."

Nox grunted and approached the busted car. Queenie didn't mind much. She took her phone out and was going to call the dealership. She wanted to ask if they could get a tow truck.

Meanwhile, Nox came up to the Mini and checked the engine closely.
