Savannah's POV:

Although darkness cushioned me in a safe place, I hadn't felt this good in a long time. I didn't think I had felt this good ever in my life. My eyes were screwed tightly but I could still feel the clouds beneath me. They sucked me into their tender depths and billowed around me. The goddess killed me and brought me into her paradise in the clouds. Oh, this was bliss. Eyes still closed, I rolled around and smiled happily on the soft clouds.

I knew asking for death was the best.

But I felt something under my legs, propping it up. That was weird. Why should my injured knees be propped up if death meant no pain?

Or wasn't I dead? Oh no, my lungs tightened with fear as reality tried to separate my lids and tear my eyes open. No. I fought against consciousness and would have won had a scent not tickled my nostrils.
