Call it what it was

ALYSSA’s POV:

The dinner with the Secretary of Defense went well. The man is very kind and actually has a plan to make the US a safer country. He’s very informed on the matter of the Second Amendment and the right to gun ownership whilst also acknowledging his responsibility as a public servant to protect the citizens and the children. I was pleasantly surprised by his responses to my questions and his knowledgeability.

I paid for dinner to which he fought me restlessly but I insisted since he paid for our pre dinner drinks we had at the bar as our table was prepared. “See you in the White House.” I saluted him jokingly and exited the restaurant to head towards my car. I settled into the driver’s seat and took out my phone. It had dinged multiple times during dinner and I put it on silent mode. There were messages from Richard. He was expecting me. My reason told me to cancel. To let him wait there until he was too tired to wait more.
