Ch 18 - Green Light

He ran through the trees, chasing the scent. It was a peculiar scent, and he hadn’t caught it in weeks. He knew that it was his biggest lead in weeks, and that he couldn’t lose it. He masked his own scent, making sure to go undetected.

The scent led him straight to a massacre. The blood was still fresh, and as he inspected the scene, he realized that different creatures had been slaughtered. It was the third massacre in three months, with some of his own people being victims.

It was what brought the massacres to his attention.

From their silence, he knew that the other species weren’t aware of what was going on just as yet, but because him and his kinfolk are connected, they all felt it the first time their people were brutally murdered.

And he knew they were aware of the latest deaths too.

He scouted the area, looking for any clues, but he found none. Much like the other two sites, there was nothing to point towards the possible murderer, or if it were just one to begin with.
