He ignored her question the first time, and Arabella noticed how cold her master's silence was.

She noticed how he gripped the table cloth underneath, and how he was currently squeezing it roughly.

The silence between them was unnerving, uncomfortable, nerve-wracking, and as the atmosphere grew tense at the same time, Arabella concluded that she was hating every minute of it.

She also dreaded it too, and as she stared at him, she began to count the seconds, waiting for him to explode.

Who knows? He might easily grab her neck and bang her head against the wall, or the table. He could do it, he was her master and she was helpless here.

He could also send her away from his presence and keep her locked up for days without food or water, that was another punishment.

There were so many things he could do to punish her for her insolence - which she was beginning to regret now - so why did he sit and choose to take his anger out on the table cloth, instead of her?
