“Lila!” My dad screamed at me from the kitchen. I hurried out of my room to see what he needed. Last night was nothing out of the ordinary. I had dropped my dad off at the bar, and the bartender, Dawn, called me when it was time for me to pick him up. That's normal for us. We've been following this routine since I was fourteen, and my dad taught me how to drive because he was threatened with a DUI. It has been few days since the incident at the diner. My dad has been so strange lately. I don't know what his deal is, but he's been super protective, not letting me walk to the bus but driving me to the bus stop or school. When he had his shift at work, he called the house line rather than my cell phone to make sure I was at home where I always am. If he knew how to track my cell phone, I'm sure he would have.He also hasn't been drinking, which, unfortunately for me, means he's super on edge and snapping at me over everything. I wash the dishes too loudly; I use too much laundry detergent, leave my hair on the sink, and don't check in enough throughout the day. All I know is I hope he calms down soon. When my birthday came, I was excited to know I didn't have to worry about shifting in front of my dad, thanks to Nova. I have also come to terms with being a werewolf. It is actually really nice to know I'm not alone. I have spent so much of my life feeling alone and like no one really cared about me. Nova and I ran until she physically couldn't go any further. At that point, we shifted, and I dressed, taking over. Nova had gotten us close to a little town. I always hated the cold, so looking at the map, I decided to go to Arizona. I remember a time when my dad was really drunk; he had mentioned my mom was from Arizona.
