CHAPTER THREE

FELIX'S POV

The cabin door swung open with the presence of a dashing presence, a tall man with a conservative physique, holding on to his pocket with an aura of power and boldness, he was dressed in a well tailored suit like that of a tuxedo, his striking figure descends the stairs, as he steps down from the stairs his presence and demeanor drew the attention of the air hostesses and his presence commandeered a high tangible respect for him. His name is Felix Banks, one of the youngest billionaires in Los Angeles who was the son of a famous business tycoon, Bank's empire, owning the majority of prominent buildings and properties, an estate firm, and yachts all around Los Angeles and beyond.

"Welcome to Los Angeles Sir" an air hostess said to him, smiling.

"Thank you" he said as he stepped down completely from the six-foot-high jet onto the red carpet that was used to usher him in. There was a flashy line of cars, including a Maybach limousine, Midnight Rider already parked in front of the jet waiting for him, his assistant and bodyguards were already on standby with their reflected diligence and loyalty.

"Welcome Sir", his assistant greeted him. It was obvious he had been out of Los Angeles for months.

"Thank you" he answered with his poised look as he took off his shades.

"This way Sir" the assistant said, ushering him to walk into his car. His men pulled his luggage into the car. As he walked near his Maybach Benz limousine, the bystanders were captivated by his presence, some capturing the moment with flashing cameras with eager anticipation. He hated the media and everything about it.

"Clear the media", he instructed his men as he entered into his luxurious limousine. The limousine was that luxury. The interior of the Maybach Benz limousine was that of opulence and all about luxury. The surface was exquisite handcrafted leather used to adore its surface, creating an exquisite taste. The limousine was spacious with comfort with state-of-the-art technology and, streams modern elegance, as touchscreens were used as the major control button. There was a soft and warm glow around the car and fresh scented air.

"Take me home" he said to the driver as he poured himself champagne into a luxury glass.

As the limousine glided along the road, it was that of tranquility. A few minutes later, the car enters a gigantic mansion, the wide gates are wide open, the Maybach limousine glides into the estate's mansion. As he stepped out of the limousine, one of the guards at the front door opened the door with a welcoming salutation. He walked majestically looking round his estate. The exterior of the mansion was the real definition of grandeur and luxury belonging to a billionaire; the well manicured and trimmed gardens, the waterfall, beautiful sculptures and beautiful carvings used to design the entrance of the mansion. As he walked to the entrance, he was greeted by the expanse of workers who came to welcome him back home after his three-week trip. The interior was a symphony of luxury too; ornate furnishings, ambient lighting and chandeliers, exquisite expensive pieces of artwork and frames adorning all corners bearing witness to the taste of its owner.

The spacious halls and corridors were also adorned with different sophisticated works of art, the air was clear and flamboyant. As he walked into his room, it bore the mark of elegance with the window showing views of the waterfall outside. He walked to the bar in his room, poured himself a vodka wine.

"Welcome back home" he said to himself as he gulped the glass of vodka down his throat. He then moved into his massive wardrobe, searching for a change of clothes. He heard his phone beep in his pocket.

"Yeah! He said as he received the call.

"What! Where?" He said loudly

"I will be there" he said as he ended the call.

"Shit! Why now!" He said as he picked up a long white sleeve, changing into it, he picked up his room's intercom and dialing a number.

"Get the car ready" he said as he hung up.

He walked swiftly out of his room, then out of the mansion into the parked car outside that was already waiting for him.

"Take me to the hospital, '' he said to the chauffeur as he tightened his seatbelt.

"What hospital Sir?" the driver asked.

"The family hospital you dumbass!" he yells. Felix hated dumb people. For him, he wanted clear perfection from anyone without any mistake or error. The ride to the hospital was smooth. He just looked outside the window till the car halted in front of the hospital. His chauffeur helped him get to the door as he stepped down from the car, almost bumping into some nurses taking an emergency bed out of an ambulance. It was obvious the patients were involved in an accident due to the blood from the ambulance.

"Watch it!" He said to the nurses to avoid bumping into them. As he walked through some wards, he saw different people waiting in the ward, some were visitors, some were sick waiting to be attended to. People stared at him because his presence was known to the public, because he was a public figure.

Mr Felix", a doctor removing gloves from his hands said, moving close to him, the doctor was familiar with Felix, he was their family doctor.

"What happened, Doctor? He asked the doctor

"Your sister said she found your father unstable in his office. It's a good thing she brought him here".

"Which of them?"

"Stephanie"

"How is he?"

"He's stable but"

"Felix!" a voice called, disrupting the doctor. A young, beautiful girl walked closer to them with classy heels and clothes. It was obvious she was a model. The doctor and Felix looked back, it was Stephanie, his step-sister, looking sad. She hugged Felix passionately.

"I found him unstable. I'm so scared, Felix", Stephanie said sadly.

"Calm down Steph, everything is okay to be fine", Felix said, consoling her.

"Let's just hear what the doctor has to say" he added.

Felix and Stephanie looked eagerly at the doctor.

"Common Doc, I don't have all day" Felix asked intuitively.

The doctor spoke of his father's condition.

"What! Felix screamed.

"What do you mean, he's going to be tied to a wheelchair" Stephanie asked, almost crying.

"Your father's very sick, and he needs to be on wheels and receive treatment", the doctor said.

"Oh my God. I can't believe this" Stephanie said, almost crying.

"Is there anything that can be done? Felix asked

"Can't we take him to China or India for treatment? Common doctor, There should be something we can do"

"He has to be on wheels just for the time being, and he can't fly out of the country now due to his condition."

"This is so sudden. I need to grab a hold of Beverly'' Stephanie said, leaving the room. Felix hissed, he hated Beverly. He walked into his father's private VVIP room. He hated hospitals because he watched how his mum died when he was just ten.

He held on to his father's hand as he sat beside his bed. He saw how pale and weak his father was. He didn't feel any remorse for himself. He dropped his hands quickly and exited the ward.

********************************

Felix sat outside his father's ward with his arms folded, and a man approached him.

"Hi Mr Felix. I came as soon as I heard", the man said. He was his father's lawyer.

"How is he?" He asked.

"The doctor said he would be wheeled, but he will be fine", Felix replied unbothered.

Some nurses passed him jeering at his handsome appearance.

"I'm sorry about your father," the lawyer consoled.

"That's okay" he said, the lawyer tapped him on his shoulder.

"So does this mean you are ready?" The lawyer asked.

"Ready for what? Felix asked, baffled.

"Are you ready to take after your father?"

"I was born ready" he said boastfully,.

The lawyer smirked, looking at Felix ignorantly.

"Listen Felix. I'm not supposed to tell you this. In fact, me saying this is against my career"

"What is it?" Felix asked, concerned.

"You have to be legally married in order to deem fit to take after your father.
