CHAPTER 13 – Zara’s POV As the days passed, life settled into a comfortable routine. My son, Enrique, continued to grow and thrive, and my friendship with Nick deepened. We spent time together often, enjoying each other's company and sharing laughter. One afternoon, Nick surprised me with a small picnic in the park. CHAPTER 14- Zara’s POV I couldn't believe what I was seeing—or reading. Lucas, my soon-to-be ex-husband, was not the type to send me private messages. When he said that he would try to make things right, I believed him, but as usual, he was lying. The moment he got a call from Giselle, he had forgotten the sweet words he uttered. But then, since I was used to that, I didn’t mind when he had a change of heart. I just chose to continue living like what I used to, and he went to his old self. But then, he suddenly sent me a message and it was unusual! As I read his message, disappointment washed over me once again. It seemed like the same old story, repeating itself over and over. CHAPTER 15 – Zara’s POV Lately, I realized how empty my life is without them. I feel incomplete. However, I wanted Lucas to be the one to text or call me first. The next day, I didn't go to the office because I felt lazy and preferred to stay at home. After cleaning the house, I grabbed my laptop upstairs and then went down to the veranda. Why did I only notice now how beautiful the views were from my veranda? Wait, didn't I buy a selfie stick when we went shopping? Let me try taking a selfie. Because of Lucas's sudden disappearance, I couldn’t eat properly, and I couldn’t sleep well at night. I've lost some weight, and there were dark circles around my eyes, but I didn’t care! I was used to his absence but since he started being kind to us, I began to miss him. The days seemed so long, and I kept glancing at the clock. CHAPTER 16- Zara’s POV As soon as I heard it, my eyes blinked several times and for a moment, I stared at the white ceiling. When I looked around, I realized to be in my room, and lying in my bed. So, was it just a dream? I chuckled at the thought of believing it was real. Even in my dream, he would just use my body, and nothing more! I immediately rolled over from the bed because it was my schedule to do some general cleaning in the house. While cleaning, I happened to stumble into our large mirror, and I was frozen in front it. I couldn’t believe what I saw. The reflection that stared back at me was too different from who I was before. Then, I realized I needed to have some makeover, but I had no idea where to start. Fortunately, Antoinette was available for a video call and she explained things to me. She also recommended her favorite spa in the city. CHAPTER 17 – Zara’s POV I thought he had decided to choose us instead of Giselle, but it was just my wishful thinking. Later in the evening, Lucas left without telling me where he was going, but I knew it was because of Giselle. I had nothing to say about that. My son fell asleep early, exhausted from his swimming lesson. I couldn't understand why there was a can of beer in the fridge, but I felt like I needed a drink. My heart remained restless. I hadn't completely moved on from Lucas. There was still a lingering pain whenever he went to see his real love, something I could never replace. For tonight, the only way I could ease that pain was by drowning myself in beer. Just for tonight, I thought. In the morning, I woke up with a pounding headache, despising the familiar sensation of a hangover after indulging in too much alcohol. Perhaps I had gone overboard last night. CHAPTER 18-Zara’s POV After we argued about Nick, he just realized that I made some changes about myself, and for some inexplicable reason, I found it difficult to meet his piercing gaze. It seemed as though I had done something wrong. Well, I refused to be constrained by his rules anymore. I would never allow him to bind me with his words and desires anymore. Antoinette was right about him being unjust, selfish, and dictatorial. It turned out that I had been blinded by so many things because of how much I loved him despite it being one-sided. I couldn’t believe how delusional I'd been...all these years! All those fucking six years! When he glared at me, I glared back before I made my way upstairs and decided to change my clothes. However, as I glanced at my wardrobe, I realized my outfits were hopelessly outdated. Then, I made a mental note to go shopping soon. CHAPTER 19- Zara’s POV Together, we stepped outside to welcome Nick into the house. As he dismounted his motorcycle, his gaze landed on Lucas's hand, which was securely placed around my waist. “Come in,” I said to Nick, and I could feel that he felt a bit awkward. “By the way, how are you?” I asked him as we walked towards the house. “I’m okay,” he replied curtly to my question. “That's good then,” I said. When we entered the house, we didn't have any privacy because Lucas kept on watching us. It felt like we were back in ancient times, where the grandmother guarded her granddaughter while talking to a suitor. Several times I signaled to Lucas to leave us alone so we could talk properly. I wanted to clarify to Nick that there was no reason for him to come to my house. “When did he start to care for you, Zara?” Nick asked about Lucas and me, even though he knew that Lucas could hear him. “Just recently, but he's someone worth waiting for, you know,” I said to him, and the smug L

CHAPTER 20-Zara’s POV ”What? You can't breathe? Oh no, are you dying? Lucas, come on! You're such a tease! Wait a moment, I'll call an ambulance,” I tried to stay calm, but I was still panicking, so I asked Antoinette for help. I asked her to call an ambulance for us, and she promised to do everything she could to get the ambulance to arrive in less than ten minutes. While waiting for help, I went to Lucas and raised his head, propping him against my body. “Lucas, just endure a little longer, okay?” I said and adjusted his position so that the pillows were piled on top of each other to support him. I needed to change his clothes before the ambulance would arrive. I took a t-shirt and shorts from his luggage. I didn't have any trouble putting the t-shirt on him. The shorts were a bit challenging because I had to lift his butt, and Lucas was quite well-endowed. “Thank you,” he said, even though it was difficult for him.
