Nyx's POV After some time of resting just like Clyde suggested, the antidote worked fervently and Claire bounced back to life in minutes. I was glad she was now safe but at the same time, I needed to make sure my mates, Narek and Otis were okay as well. "No Nyx, it's dangerous. I can't let you go out there alone" Clyde stopped me when I was about living our temporary hideout. "Then come with me. This is my battle Clyde and I won't be able to bear it if they lose their life in my place. Remember what happened in the case of Miss Pendleton, I wouldn't be able to bear losing another loved one to the hands of those evil beings" I returned stubbornly. He rubbed his face in frustration, "Still Nyx, I don't think it is right for you to come out to join the fight. I have been in a fight with Otis and I could tell you that with the ability he possesses, he will do well in taking care of the Sorcerers. Not to talk of Narek who is a master in the arts of magic, defense, and attacks" Clyde
Nyx's POV "I came back as soon as I sensed you were out of your hiding after searching for you all over the woods. How dare you stress me out like that!" Sylvia scolded me. Her voice was coated in anger which she had bottled up in her chest. I rolled my eyes inwardly. "You ingrate, I have tried everything to explain things to you but you wouldn't adhere. In the long run, you too shall be rewarded greatly only if you and your aunt allowed this exercise to take place. But what did you two do instead? Invite your weak friends to stand up against us and now you are yelling for us to stop tormenting them" "I am no ingrate Sylvia and I wish to remind you that this mission will remain impossible as far as I am still alive and breathing" I retorted and she smiled darkly. "Even if it costs the life of your dear mate and friends?" She asked while raising her hands in the air and at the same time, a dark energy enveloped Otis, Narek, and Clyde, raising them high in the sky as they struggl
Nyx's POV "Noooo" I yelled and fell to my knees. Ms. Toddleboar's warning resounded in my eardrums. "A war is coming and it is your fight. It is going to be a deadly one, you will lose your loved ones but at last, you shall be victorious. But you have to be ready and face all you meet, else you fall into the darkness and your ability taken away from you like it never existed in the first place" This was what she was speaking about, my eyes turned to Narek who was sprawled on the floor, his eyes held so much pain as he gazed into mine. Aman stood above him, panting heavily as blood trickled down his injured face. Clyde's tattoos and runes had finally wiped away from his skin and he fell limply to the floor, drained. Tears gushed out of my eyes as I clasped my hand over my mouth and cried bitterly. Aman moved away from Narek's side and joined Otis who was standing beside Sylvia. "No, no, no this can't be happening" I muttered breathlessly, running towards Narek who was hardly
Nyx’s POV"Come on, Nyx Uren. What is keeping you? You do not want to be late on your very first day, do you?" Mother's bossy voice rang out from some part of the house.I sat frozen at the vanity, glaring at the almost nineteen year old girl who reciprocated the same intensity as I did. We completely ignored the woman who birthed us, yelling from the ground floor. It was 5:45am and I was still in my pyjamas, my peroxide blonde hair in utter disarray. My icy blue eyes tinged with sadness at the thought of all that had transpired in the past one year. All Mother ever thought about was how the circumstances in my life affected her and she was always quick to make hasty decisions on them, without consulting me, without giving a flying fuck about how these circumstances and decisions affected me.I was done. This time around, I was putting my foot down. She would not make me miss a year and then go back to be a spring onion, the outcast.Never.I heard her hurried footsteps as they marche
Nyx’s POVRing ring ring.I turned in my sleep. What the hell was making that noise?“Turn it off!” I mumbled, burying my head further into the pillow. But that did not stop the incessant sound from reaching my ears.‘I swear I would break my maid’s bones if she does not turn this off this minute,’ I cursed in my mind.Wait...I do not own an alarm clock. At that realisation, my eyes flung open and the strange looking ceiling greeted them. The alarm clock had automatically turned off as I woke up and I checked my bedside table to find nothing on it.Where did the clock go? Where am I? I wondered, looking around the room. There was another bed on the opposite wall but there was also no occupant in it. The walls were a dark red with shelves lining them.A shoe rack stood by the door and two inbuilt wardrobes stood at the foot of each bed.A study desk and chair each sat by the window at the end of the passageway between the beds.It dawned on me then that I was at the academy, in the dor
Nyx’s POVIt had been three days since I resumed. Three days of constant isolation by my fellow students. Three days of vile ignoring and vicious death glares from my roommate and Penelope.Of persistent eyes watching my every move. Three days of living in the fear of Otis Agni. Meeting him had only made my stay here worse. That day at the cafeteria, he had promised to check up on me often and ensure we caught up on old times. To any other person, that sounded like a friendly offer. But I knew it was not and I was scared to think of what he had planned out for me.The rumours had grown even more stronger and recruited more hate for me. I wondered how stupid everyone was to believe such lies of someone that they had not even met.Apart from the sick welcome I had received upon my arrival, school was nice. The classes were fun and the teachers were patient.I was in Environment class, listening attentively to the wizard lecturer drone on about how important each creature was in the cont
Nyx’s POV“Nyx! Nyx! Nyx!” They chanted, lifting me high until I was suspended in the air with their palms holding me up. The widest grin spread across my face as they sang my praises. I never thought a day would come when they would finally accept me. I turned to see Aunt Gacia jumping excitedly and pointing at me. The cheers were so loud, but I could read the words on her lips.“That’s my cousin! My sweet-”A high-pitched chirp filled my ears, jolting me awake. With wide, horrified eyes, I whipped my head around in search of the source of the noise, only to see a white bird perched beside my window.Did someone hurt him? I squinted, trying to make out its features in semi-darkness when its beak parted and another high-pitched chirp rang out again. “Arrrghhhh!” An annoyed groan came from the other side of the room where Narin was lying down and I watched her pull her night blue comforter over her head. The bird only intensified its torturous cries until Narin suddenly stretched h
Nyx’s POVI stepped into class right in time for the first class of the day as the shrill sound of the bell chimed in my ears. I hurried to my seat, knowing that the teacher would be stepping into class soon.Pulling out my tablet from my bag, I went on to preview my schedule for the day and my eyes lit up.History and Ethics.History was my first love, fueled by my curiosity to learn about other supers other than myself. My…condition was another reason I immersed myself in history books and as I swiped through the lesson for the day, I realized they were all familiar to me. I could proudly say that I had already studied the entire lesson for the day.“This is going to be interesting…” I smiled to myself as I reviewed the notes on my tablet. The academy tablet is a customized tablet given to every student, which usually consists of their unique class schedule, daily lessons, study guides, and a review at the end of each lesson.I received mine earlier in the week and was pretty thril
