I Have A Mate

Damien

She immediately went to sit opposite me but I was very sure that she couldn't see my face which I made sure of. She probably must have asked herself questions but I cared less about that.

Halfway through the meal, I finally raised my gaze at her for the first time since she got to the dining room. I took my time to study her as I contemplated whether or not I should show her my face. I knew she must have wanted to ask but didn't for reasons best known to her.

" Don't you want to see my face ?" I asked.

She blinked numerous times, of course, she did but she didn't expect me to ask. I guess she had decided to respect my reasons for not showing her my face.

" Not really, I understand if you don't want to show me your face" she retorted for me to let out a deep chuckle. I had expected her to say that, those had been the words my past harems say when I asked them if they would like to see my face.

" I can show you if you want," I said.

Her curiosity immediately sprung up, this meant she would finally see the face I had been hiding. She wanted to see how handsome I was and that I had to hide my face away from her.

" Yes," she simply said.

It was a game of staring contest as we both stared at each other with me battling with myself on

whether to do it or not to show her and her, trying to catch a glimpse of my face. After a long silence, I sighed, that was it, there was no going back. With unhurried speed, I removed the hood from my head, and Hazel gasped.

She immediately dropped the utensils she had used to eat and jolted away from the dining table. She panicked, I guess her father didn't tell her this, if she had known she probably wouldn't have agreed to be my hired mate.

There, she saw the most irritating face she had ever seen, half of my face had been disfigured with scars, scars that looked new and fresh and still had fresh blood gushing over them. The only thing that still managed to look usual in that part of my disfigured face was my eyes. No one needed to tell me how I looked, that was why I was given the name 'the ugly wolf ' by my cousins.

" You…your face " she shuttered.

" Yes I know, sit !" I said. If I were to be the same 15-year-old wolf twenty years ago, I would have been affected by her display but I have been criticized and stigmatized a lot that I decided to care less whenever someone showcases a negative response concerning my face.

" What happened ?" she asked while staring at every corner of the room except my face which I didn't fail to notice.

" That's none of your business, now let's go to my main reason for calling you here," I said.

My calm self was nowhere to be found, she started to see why her father had said I was very dangerous and easily angered.

" What's that ?" she asked.

" My uncle would like to see you " I blurted out for Hazel to open her mouth in awe, she knew I would bring the topic up since my uncle was the reason why I had even considered hiring a mate but she didn't think she was ready to meet him and I also had a lot going on in my mind concerning this.

What if she made a mistake and said something that could expose me, what if my uncle didn't believe them, I hated to admit but he was a very smart wolf, what would be the consequences? These were the questions I had asked myself.

"When ?" she asked.

" Tonight " I responded.

Hazel's heart seized, she saw it as too early for any introduction, she hadn't stayed in my house for more than a day but she was already having a difficult

time and it was not a good sign, how would she convince my uncle that they were mates if she can't even be comfortable around him, especially with that face?

" Don't you think that it's too early for that, this is just my first day? "she said but it only made me angry, she was not supposed to oppose anything concerning the arrangement, anything I say stands, or else the deal would be broken.

" No it isn't and there are things that you need to know, "I said. I waited for a few minutes before clearing my throat.

"For my plan to work, you will have to abide by my rules," I said and as instructed, Hazel did nothing other than to watch as I spoke.

" Firstly, you are not allowed outside this property until I say so," I said but still, she didn't say anything.

" Second, you are not allowed to mingle in my business ". Still, she didn't say anything.

" Third, you can not see your father until our deal is over ". Her eyes widened, she probably didn't expect this rule from me but she will have to abide by it. She must not have any business with her father until I say so.

" What do you mean by that ? he is my father ". As expected, she opposed my words and made me angry.

" You are free to go back to Greg's house but be rest assured that I would come for what you and your father owed me, by that, I meant your lives."

Hazel swallowed, that was the true definition of a threat and from the look on my face, she could easily deduce that it was not an empty one.

After a long silence, I sighed.

" When you get to my uncle's house, I don't want to see you with any member of my family, especially my cousins," I said and she did not say anything. After all, she had no business with my family and shouldn't associate with them including my uncle.

" Don't talk to them, don't exchange eye contact with them, and don't give them your attention" I blurted out.

" If asked a question, don't say anything, my uncle is a very clever wolf and could easily find out if you spill out something you weren't supposed to say ".

She agreed to this one, the less she spoke, the better it would be for everyone involved.

" Do you have anything to say ?" I asked but Hazel shook her head.

" Then, I have somewhere to be !". Without waiting for another second, I stood up and left.

Things were happening so fast that Hazel had to sit back and process what had just happened. First, she was caged to an ugly and strong wolf. Second, Damien's personality was the same with that as Joseph's if not worst lastly, she had to meet with Seth, Damien's uncle who she wasn't sure if he had the same character as Damien.

She sighed, the only way to come out of this mess without getting hurt was to avoid Damien and try not to make him angry, which she had decided to

do.

" Father, don't make me assume that you made this up so I would agree to this," she said out loud because,

" Oh really ?".

She immediately frowned, she knew who that voice belonged to and he was the last person she needed to see at that moment.

She looked over at Joseph who had an astonished look on his face instead of the angry one he usually has. He was still trying hard to believe that she didn't like the situation she had found herself in since any wolf would want to kill to be called Damien's mate even if it was just for a day.

" Hmm, how long have you been standing there ?" she asked.

" Long enough," he said. For the first time in a while, a smile cropped up on Joseph's face, though it was without a doubt filled with mockery, she still had the chance to see his face lit up.

" Anyway, I came to warn you, don't make any mistake ". He flashed her another smile and left.

Hazel, feeling intimidated, rushed to her room.
