Destinee POV.“Aura, are you picking up on anything?” I asked as we searched around the perimeter of the apartment. Finding the source of the scent.“No, babe. But I will start masking our scent. The scent is disappearing. Whoever it was hasn’t been back, so maybe it was just a wolf passing, though.” She didn’t sound convincing at all. But maybe she was right. We did get a lot of wolves passing through. It was neutral territory, after all. After a few hours of searching, the scent went. So much for our relaxing day. I headed towards the bar to see if anyone needed anything. When I entered the bar, it had a few tourists and locals. “Hey beautiful, how are you feeling today?” Sadia was working at the bar. I pulled up a bar stool and sat down.“I’m ok, picked up on a scent by the apartment. We have been searching for the source, but nothing. Aura said she will start masking our scent.” I sighed out as she placed a drink in front of me. “Thanks.” I said, taking a sip and placing it back do
Destinee POV.Nightmares were never an issue until a week ago. It has been two years since I rejected my pack and it has been eighteen months since I felt the pain of betrayal, well that was until a week ago. My mate was engaged in sexual activity with another. Aura wasn’t impressed and since the first waves of the betrayal, she has become savage. She is ruthless when she is in control, and it’s frightening. She has told me that the pain of betrayal can turn wolves feral and she is no exception to that rule. If anything, the fact that she is the Moon Goddess in wolf form makes it worse. The mate bond is supposed to be sacred, not something to be betrayed, yet here we are.“Destinee, are you ok?” she whimpered in my head of the memories that have plagued me for the past week.“No, Aura I’m not. Our family and mate should have treated us properly. I can’t keep doing this, Aura. Can we not break the bond? There has to be a way.” I try to fight the tears of the memories in my head of the
Titus POV. It has been two years since I found and lost my mate, Destinee Shaw. I know she is alive, otherwise I’m sure I would have felt her die. We know the bond binds us because of who her wolf is, and so I have tried my best to stay away from Crystal. However, last week, I woke up naked next to her, not remembering anything. I questioned her, and she told me what happened. The scent of our arousal lingered in the room. Orion told me I was drunk, and he tried to stop me, but I pushed him out and blocked him. The guilt eats at me for what I have done and knowing Destinee would have felt it. Hanging my head in shame at the betrayal and pain I have caused, I know I am not worthy of the bond; I have failed my mate, failed to protect her from harm and pain. For the past two years, I have drunk to ease the ache of the bond, but it doesn’t help. Does Destinee feel the same way? Will I ever find her again? These questions plague my mind daily and it is driving me insane. Orion whimpers
Destinee POV. I ran through the doors and out into the humid air, looking around for the two women. Josh and Leon came running up behind me. “Destinee, what’s going on?” Leon asked from beside me. Holding my hand up to silence him when I heard a bloodcurdling laugh coming from the forest. My head snapped in the direction and I took off running. I could hear one woman begging and crying. The metallic smell of blood is in the air. I growled. I followed the scent into a clearing not too far from the bar. Leon and Josh came running up behind me. The sight before me caused my blood to catch fire. Both women were on the ground and the four rogues were touching and groping them. The fear was palpable in the air. “LET ME OUT,” Aura screamed in my head. I couldn’t. If I did, the humans will learn of our existence. We must protect my kind at all costs, unless a human is our mate. “HEY!” I shouted as I edged closer to them. The women looked relieved and whimpered. One rogue slapped her acro
Titus POV. Reading the information that we already knew was frustrating, not much is known about Aura and the only person who knows the truth is Destinee. Turning my gaze out of the window of the jet, the sun is making its descent towards the horizon. We will land in half an hour, then we have a three-hour drive to the last known sighting of Destinee. Releasing a sigh, my mind wonders to her. Orion whines in my head. He is agitated and wants to be with his mate. I pulled out my phone to see the picture that was taken of her from a distance. She was stepping out of a bar called ‘The Eclipse Bar’ so that is our first stop. If she is masking her scent, then we will watch from a distance. She is like a ghost; she is hard to find and if she is a flight risk. If she knows we are here for her, she will bolt again. I am going to have to approach this differently, especially since she has been betrayed by me and her pack. Aura is savage, and it’s no wonder. It is rumoured even though she is
Titus POV.Sitting in the living room, being separated by a wall from my mate it so hard, but her scent calms me and the storm that is brewing within me.Josh and Marcus are both sat opposite me, the silence is deadly. “She will be ok Titus. You have found her now.” Marcus tells me and I just nod my head and bring the glass to my lips and sip down the whiskey. It burns my throat, but it’s comforting. For so long, I found solace in the bottle, but now it’s different. I drank to dull the ache and now I’m drinking to calm my nerves. When will she wake up? She will run again? How am I going to make this right?I am pulled from my thoughts when the bedroom door opens. We all jump to our feet as Kendra and Sadia come out and close the door behind them.“How is she?” I ask. The fear in my voice is clear. Sadia takes the bottle of Jack Daniels and pours her and Kendra a glass. She knocks it back before pouring another one.She looks at me and moves to sit on the arm of the sofa next to Josh.
Titus POV.Sitting watching Destinee’s sleeping form, I’m calm and I knew at that moment that this beautiful she-wolf holds my heart and soul.“Our mate is beautiful when she sleeps, but I know she will be a firecracker when she wakes up.” Orion is watching her through my eyes and he is awestruck by her.“She is. We can only hope she gives us a chance, Orion. If she doesn’t then it will be the downfall of our pack.” Orion huffs at my words.“No, it won’t be me she needs to give a chance, it’s you. If she doesn’t I won’t help you. You caused this Titus, it’s time you became the Alpha you need to be, the better Alpha. If not for her, but for you.” He tells me. I roll my eyes at him and his divine wisdom, traitor.I stand and move to the side of the bed and grasp her hand in mine. Sparks dance in my palm. I will never tire of this feeling. Sitting next to her, I rub a little circle over her knuckles with my thumb.“I’m so sorry Destinee, I will spend the rest of my life making it up to yo
Titus POV.On the jet, I placed Destinee in the bedroom at the back of the jet. No signs of improvement in her condition leaves me concerned.“Orion, can you feel Aura?” I ask, keeping a watchful eye on my mate.“I can feel her. She is sleeping. I have tried calling out to her but nothing. The wolfsbane has knocked her out.” He whimpered out. He badly wants to speak to her and no doubt to throw me under the bus.“She will wake soon. We just need to explain to her what happened and hopefully she understands.” Well, that was wishful thinking. She is the Moon Goddess in wolf form, and I have a feeling her wrath is going to be devastating.“I hope she does, Titus, but we have another problem.” He tells me with a snicker. My eyebrows furrow at his words. “What do you mean?” I don’t like where this is going. He laughs “when she wakes up and realises she isn’t in her apartment. What do you think she will do? We have basically kidnapped her. You have to remember Titus. She has been on the run
