Kate descended down the long spiral staircase with her heart in her mouth.

Miriam, the elderly maid who had rushed up to meet her earlier had called her downstairs saying that Richie had called for her and had given her a dress to wear.

Kate stared at the black short gown in disgust but she had no other choice than wear it. She felt uncomfortable as descended the stairs in the gown that exposed the skin of her back and digged into her flesh. He couldn’t even try to guess her size right. She thought.

When she came to the end of the stairs, the other maids led her to the dining where Richie was waiting for her.
