"Hey, Case, by when will you be here?" Trinity said into the phone, as she got ready.
It was a few months after Dmitri's birthday and Casey and her had planned to go for a girl's day out, just the two of them, since they hadn't had one of those in what felt like forever.
"I'll be there in a few. I'm on my way over."
"Case! How many times do I need to tell you not to talk on the phone while driving?" Trinity chastised her best friend.
"Chill, Tri. It's on speaker. My eyes are on the road. Are you ready yet?" Casey asked and Trinity could almost feel her rolling her eyes.
"I'm ready. How long-" Trinity cut off abruptly as she heard a loud scream on the other before the line went dead.
"Casey?! Case? Hello?" Trinity shouted into the phone, terrified for her friend.
She quickly called her again only for it go straight to voicemail.
<Trinity decided she was going to have to leave Dmitri. If she told him that Samantha was pregnant with his child, he'd be ready to take full responsibility of the child in a heartbeat, but he wouldn't leave Trinity to be with Samantha. But Trinity didn't want that for his and Samantha's child. She wanted their child to know what it meant to have truly loving parents.Only someone who hadn't had the love of their parents growing up could understand what it felt like to not have a normal family. If she didn't leave Dmitri, then the child would have to divide his or her time between two parents who lived miles apart. She didn't want that for Dmitri's child. She wanted him or her to have a normal happy family. The kind of life she wanted growing up but could never have. And that was only possible if she was out of the picture and
Over the next week or so, they all worked as a unit to help Casey out as much as they could. They made sure someone was with Casey at all times in case she needed anything. Tina, Angela and Joy came to visit often enough too. Even Valéry, Stefan and the twins had come to check up on Casey too.As grateful as Casey was for all the love and attention everyone was showering her with, she was starting to get increasingly irritated, specially by her best friend who seemed to have taken up permanent residence next to her bed."Why won't you leave me alone? God, you've been here practically 24×7 for the past seven days. Don't you have a home to go?" Casey rolled her eyes. And yes, she could actually do it without her head exploding in pain now. The bandage wrapped around her head was gone, so was the swelling around her eye and she could actually open both her eyes now. The only things remaining were the plasters on her arm and
Today was the day Casey was going back home from the hospital.Today was also the day Trinity was going to leave Dmitri and go back to her old life.In the morning, Trinity had left the house before Dmitri woke up like she'd been doing ever since Casey got hospitalised. She, however, returned back to the penthouse somewhere around noon once the doctor gave Casey the all clear to go home. Trinity was going to go pack her things up while Nigel helped Casey get back to her apartment seeing they were practically neighbors and Nigel was more than happy to help. Then Trinity was going to meet them back at her old apartment in the evening once all was said and done between her and Dmitri.Trinity had decided that she was only going to take what she had brought with her when she'd first moved in. She was going to leave everything Dmitri had bought for her here.So fo
The days following her departure from the penthouse, Trinity decided to get busy. When you were busy, you didn't have time to overthink, or think for that matter. When you worked hard, you were too tired to do anything but sleep at night, barring any and all unwelcome thoughts without much effort. And that's exactly what Trinity had been doing for the past twenty eight days. She'd gotten her old job back as a waitress at Jimmy's despite heavy protests from Casey. But since the woman herself was confined to the apartment, there wasn't much she could do but grumble about how much of an idiot Trinity was. When she wasn't working at the restaurant, she was either at Simon's, helping him out or at home baking something to take for the kids at the orphanage or at the orphanage helping with whatever she could. When she wasn't doing any of that, she spent her time studying for her course. All in a
"Whoa, easy there," Dmitri muttered, holding onto the person he'd just crashed into on his way out of the office to his car."Oh, uh, hey," Samantha murmured, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear almost shyly as she stepped back, her hand going to her slightly rounded stomach almost reflexively."Samantha?" Dmitri looked down at her, stepping back completely.Samantha gave him a small smile as she looked up at him, taking in his unshaven face and the bags under his eyes. Clearly, the split up hadn't been good for him."Yeah," Samantha muttered, nodding a little."Wow. You're pregnant," Dmitri observed. "Congratulations on that." He continued, trying to make conversation. He'd been so busy drowning himself in work ever since Trinity left that he'd hardly talked to anyone if it wasn't work related. So making conversation for the first time in so
Trinity wrapped an arm around Casey's back to support her as she pulled her best friend out of the car in the hospital's parking lot. Once Nigel had rounded the car and was standing next to Casey, supporting her, Trinity let go so she could lock the car."Ugh, stop mollycoddling me, you two. I can walk just fine on my own," Casey huffed, rolling her eyes.It was a few days after when Tyler had come to their apartment that Casey was due for a visit to the doctor to have a look at her still-in-a-cast leg. So here they were, in the hospital's parking lot, ready to go in."I hate to break it to you Case, but you can't. You can hardly put any weight on your leg, let alone walk," Nigel muttered, looking thoroughly amused as Casey huffed again, trying to balance her weight on her good leg.Suddenly, Casey pulled her shoulders back, looking awfully determined. And then she went ahead and put her weight on h
Trinity had been distracted with her jumbled up thoughts all the way back to their apartment.Casey, however, thought that Trinity looked so put out because of what she'd said to her in the parking lot. Which made her feel immensely guilty. So in an attempt to make things right, Casey began, "Tri? I was very rude and insensitive back there at the parking lot and-"Trinity cut her best friend off with a shake of her head, lightly patting Casey's injured leg which was lying in her lap as if telling her that it was okay. And it was. "No, Case. You were right about everything. And I needed to hear that. And I was thinking about what you said too. I think I should at least talk to Dmitri about it once," Trinity confessed."Really?!" Nigel, having obviously been listening in to their conversation exclaimed from the front seat, his lips pulling into a wide grin."Ah, fucking fi
A piercing pain at the back of her head was the first thing Trinity registered as she came to, a groan leaving her lips almost involuntarily."Trinity? Trinity? Are you awake?" Came an urgent, frantic voice from somewhere close to her. In the back of her mind, Trinity knew who the voice belonged to, but in her half awake state, she couldn't quite put a finger on it.When Trinity didn't reply, the voice tried again, more urgent this time. "Trinity?! Are you alright? Wake up, please! Open your eyes! Talk to me!"Open my eyes? Trinity thought to herself. Opening her eyes seemed like the most difficult task she'd done in a while for her eyes felt heavier than lead, as if someone had glued them shut. She almost didn't want to try, but something at the back of her mind told her to listen to the urgent, nagging voice. So she did.She tried with all her might to peel her eyes open. She le
