Steph stared at the contract in front of her on the table. Alex and his mum had insisted they did it in a court so the contract will be valid. Steph had requested if she could come along with Mia. She needed someone to be there with her when she was making the decision. She was nervous and scared and even though she wasn’t showing it, she still couldn’t help it.“Sign here,” Alex’s mum said, pointing towards the part of the paper that Steph was required to sign in. Steph picked up the pen and after a few minutes she signed where she was supposed to. The documents were passed to Alex who also signed in his part. “We are done with it now, I think we can conclude that you are married” the official said. Steph had never thought her wedding would be like this. Rushed and laying for 10months. Steph dreamt of a big hall with plenty flowers, walking down to the alter to her favorite love song, a first dance with her husband to her favorite Ed-sheeran’s song. Dancing with her fr
Steph felt a sudden ray of light on her face, causing her to squint her eyes but she didn’t open it. Rather she turned to the other her face to the other side of the bed, pulling her duvet to cover her already exposed self. She suddenly felt her duvet removed from her body. She wondered what was going on and stood to sit up, rubbing her eyes with her hands. “It’s time,” The voice said. Steph managed to open her eyes to see who it was that was talking to her. “Time for what?” She said, in a sleepy tone. She finally opened her eyes and saw a lady standing in front of her bed. She wondered who it was.“Who are you?” She asked, curiously.“I am lols, I was sent here to get you ready for the interview,” She explained.“What interview?” Steph asked curiously. She thought about if Alex had mentioned it to her but she couldn’t recall.“It starts in 30 minutes, you should get in the bath now. We will get your clothes ready.”Steph figured there wasn’t so much time to keep asking questio
Steph hurried to get to work the next day. She was almost late and wouldn't want her boss to start the new month with a query for her. Alex had assigned a driver and car to her. It was going to be much easier for her to get to work and she wasn't going to need jumping the bus again and staying several minutes at the train station. She got to work just in time for the days' work to start and she wished her week started with someone else bumping into her and not Mike. They had both entered the same elevator and Steph wished she had been a few minutes late in other to not get to see him.It was just both of them in the elevator and at first they said nothing to each other. "Didn't know you still worked here" he said sarcastically and Steph wondered what he meant by that."What do you mean by that?" Steph asked curiously. Steph turned to look at him and the first thought on her mind was "have I been fired and have no idea about it". "It's all over the news. You got married to a b
Steph packed up her stuffs from the office after she was done. She was leaving quiet early today because she had to meet up with Mia at the bar. She had made just a little progress in her designs and felt maybe a little night out would help. The states from her co-workers had reduced. Only a few side talks and murmuring. She didn't seem to care anymore and was starting to get used to it. She however never went on social media again to check what people were saying, she realized it was causing more harm than good. The driver packed just outside the bar. Steph had initially thought to convince him to go home but he was going to insist to stay so she didn't bother. She walked into the bar and immediately sighted Mia where they always sat. She waved at her and smiled eagerly going to meet her.Mia pulled her in for a hug after she got to where she was."It feels like I haven't seen you in forever," Mia said and Steph laughed."You saw me just last week.""I have missed you."Ste
Steph looked down through her balcony has she watched Alex work out. She wondered why he didn’t use the gym in the house instead but then she was glad she had the view. She watched has he exercised his biceps and muscles, he was shirtless, making his parks even more visible. He has a nice body” she had thought to herself. It was the weekend and she had sat holding the book she had just purchased at the mall the other day. It was titled “101 guide to motherhood” and even though she had read almost half of the book, she wasn’t getting the point. There was so much talk and she knew it wouldn’t be that easy. She decided to finish the book regardless. She had bought 3 other of such books hoping they would at least prepare her for what is to come. Steph was scared but she wasn’t going to admit it to anyone. She had never been so scared of anything. She was always ever eager to take on challenges and fight them through but this was seeming difficult than it would naturally and that
Steph got ready for her first day to visit the hospital. She hadn’t had time in a while and had been postponing going for the scan. Although that’s what she tells herself, she was just really anxious. Anything that concerned the baby, she always didn’t know how to act. Steph sat at the dining table and the chef served her toasts. “Has he gone to work?” Steph said, turning to face Lucy who was sitting opposite her. She had made it a tradition to eat with Lucy and even Lucy was starting to get used to it. “I think he leaves in a few,” Lucy replied.Steph never knew how his schedule was like. They never really talked about what either of them did and they were living their separate lives in the same house. “Alright, thank you.”Steph never really asked if Alex was going to eat with them anymore. She had initially tried but he had refused twice saying he was more comfortable eating in his room. Alex came down few minutes after and as then he walked out towards them. “G
Alex brought out some clothes from his closet. He had been wondering what to wear to the date he had. He brought out two of his polos on his bed. He picked the two polos and walked downstairs to go and meet Lucy. He always went to her anytime he needed something like that. He had set up a date with a girl and even though he was skeptical about it, he loved to go out and wouldn’t miss a chance to. “Hey Lucy,” Alex said, seeing Lucy sitting outside in the varanda.“Alex,” Lucy said facing him. She dropped the knitted sweater she was doing. That was what she loved to do. Most days there was really nothing to do at home and she just spent her time knitting. “This or this?” Alex asked, putting up the two shirts. “I can’t seem to decide.”Lucy would have actually answered the question like she always does but that day, she had another idea.“Why not ask Steph. She knows quiet a lot about fashion,” Lucy said with a smile.“I don’t know about that,” Alex said. He and Steph didn’t rea
Steph woke up quiet early in the morning the next day. She had trouble sleeping and had woken up several times at night. She had also thrown up a bit at night but was feeling much better in the morning. She had thought she wasn’t going to go to work the next day but she felt better. She went into the bathroom and had a quick shower. She put on her black pants and nude shirt. Packing her hair behind and holding it with a hair packer. She applied a little powder, used a little lip gloss and was ready to go.She came out of her room and saw a girl coming out of Alex’s room. She figured it was probably the same girl she met the night before. The girl was wearing the same clothes she had seen on her the night before. A short brown dress. Her hair looked messy and it was evident that she didn’t do any combing in the morning.“Hey,” She said to Steph before going down the stairs.“Good morning,” Steph replied.Steph went down behind her and watched her open the main door to leave.
