Chapter 3 You're the One I Want to Marry

It had been too long since she had heard his voice, Arabella caught her breath for a moment.

The man remained cold and reticent, but her heart trembled uncontrollably.

She called Ezra today not only because she wanted to remind him to go back home to visit his grandpa tomorrow, but she also had her own selfishness.

Arabella didn't want to say anything more in Beth's presence, but whispered, "You... When are you coming home?"

The man paused for a few seconds, suddenly sneered, "What? I've only been away from home for a few days, and you're already that lonely?"

Arabella's breath stopped for a second. In his mind, was she that shabby?

What's more, with Beth Ruth by his side, did he have to put words in his mouth so harshly?

Arabella took a deep breath, pretending not to hear the mockery in his words.

"We promised to go home to see grandpa tomorrow. Don't forget that."

"Don't bother me with grandpa's business. Who are you to teach me how to do things??"

Arabella pursed her lips and tried to explain when a woman's voice came first from across the phone, "Ezra, do you want milk before you go to bed?"

The man shifted his attention immediately, and his voice was gentler than Arabella had ever heard. "Just drink it. I don't need that. Be careful it's hot. Let me pour it for you."

He was about to hang up the phone when he realized that the other side had hung up long before him.

It was the first time that Arabella had hung up on him first.

The busy tone in Ezra's ear made him pause for a few seconds, and then he laughed with mockery.

He just left for a few days, Arabella had gotten a lot bolder!

He didn't mind, but Arabella stood on the balcony of her room for a long time, unable to return to his senses.

It was only when she tasted the bloody rust that she realized she had bitten her lip open.

Her hands and feet were cold outside her robe, and with a wry smile, the woman turned and entered the room.

In fact, these days she also had anticipated the situation that once Beth really came back, Ezra would never feel assured and would still run to her. The man's rare patience and gentleness had long ago been devoted to her.

Regardless of the fact that already had preparation, however in the mind still unwilling and plaintive.

Maybe no matter how hard you try, in the eyes of a man who doesn't love you, you were just a clown...

Ezra didn't mind the call. He poured out the milk for Beth and then went for a shower.

When he came out wearing his bathrobe and wiping his hair, he was suddenly embraced by a woman from behind.

"Ezra, is it because I came back that causes Bella unhappy?" Beth's voice was soft and concerned as if she were really worried about Arabella.

"When she called just now, she was so mean and cold to me..."

Ezra's heart softened. He put his arm around the woman and whispered in her ear, "What do you care? We're gonna get a divorce soon. Just a stranger. Don't let her destroy your good mood. I'm glad you're back, Beth. You're the one I want to marry."

Beth Ruth smiled shyly as she lowered her head and burrowed restlessly into the man's arms like a cat, "In that case, will Brother Ezra let me be your woman tonight?"

But as soon as she put her hand on the man's bathrobe, he immediately grabbed it with a frown, "Good girl, Arabella and I aren't divorced yet, this isn't fair to you as a girl."

She frowned slightly, disgruntled but immediately changed her tune, "Okay, then I'll wait for Brother Ezra!"

After all, in Ezra's mind, she was the most well-behaved and understanding girl in the world.

Ezra didn't return the next morning.

Arabella swallowed her sadness and called a car back home.

Looking at the cherry blossoms that were blooming romantically along the road, she suddenly felt a little ridiculous.

She's been in love with Ezra since she first met him when she was sixteen, but he's always been in love with Beth Ruth.

She had just returned, yet Ezra, who was always aloof and arrogant, was soon by her side, taking care of her.

Arabella lowered her head and touched her stomach, her hanging hair hiding her scowl...

The old James's family home was in a villa area not far from the city, and Arabella had just entered when a middle-aged woman stopped her.

"Hey, isn't this our young lady? How come you're back all alone by yourself?" The woman's shrill voice pierced the silence of the garden.

She looked Arabella up and down and laughed twice. "I thought you were so desperate to marry Ezra, but now it seems that your life in James' family is a bad time! After all these years of marriage, the chickens should be flocked, but you can't even lay an egg. No wonder you have no one to go home with. If I were you, I'd have packed my things and left! It's a good thing you've got a thick skin and you're still here!"

The person who spoke was Ezra's aunt, Grandpa Arthur's youngest daughter, Gaby James.

This aunt, while taking much care of Ezra, had always looked at her as a nephew-in-law with disdain.

Gaby was abducted as a child and grew up in the countryside for many years. Even after she was taken back home, her surliness remained unchanged.

Nonetheless, the more she tried to hide her vulgarity, the more ridiculous it seemed.

Arabella was raised by Ruth's family and has received a good education, and her elegance and grace have been engraved in her bones.

The more elegant and subdued Arabella is, the more ignorant and mean Gaby appears.

Or maybe it was because Gaby James fell in love with Arabella's father Aden Ruth at first sight when she was young, but Aden Ruth turned his back on the crass Gaby and fell in love with the gentle and kind Grace Ruth, Arabella's mother.

Years later, Arabella was in love with her nephew Ezra.

Jealousy, combined with vindictiveness, made her attitude towards Arabella even worse.

Arabella had never taken her to heart, but she was no pushover either.

Gaby James waited here today specifically to give herself a hard time.

Not that there was anything she could put up with at one time or another, except Ezra.

Arabella said calmly, "It's not like I don't know my way around, why do I need company? Moreover, I am still young, I will have children sooner or later, on the contrary, auntie, you are a big age it is better to find a man earlier, after all..."

She paused, then added, "At your age, you should be going through menopause."

Arabella doesn't know how to poke people's hearts, she just doesn't care.

"Arabella!"

Gaby's shrill cry cut through the silence of the cottage.

Arabella looked bemused and said without haste, "It's scientifically proven that anger can trigger menopause earlier, making you age faster and go through menopause earlier."

Gaby's features twisted in anger as she pointed at Arabella and cursed, "Who the hell are you to talk to me like that? ! Uneducated thing! You're such an ingrate! Do you want me to tell Ezra and have him repudiate you immediately? Go back to your Ruth's family!"

Arabella was just pregnant and felt a little uncomfortable when she got off the car. Now she only felt noisy when she heard Gaby James jumping up and scolding.

She rubbed her left temple and and didn't linger much longer, going straight upstairs to see her grandfather.

However, her luck was not so good today, as she had just gone upstairs, she came face to face with someone she didn't quite want to see.
