Chapter 4.

Lance's POV.

The whip landed on me causing me to wince . A sharp stinging sensation erupted in my hand which I held out to touch the place where the leather had cut into me.

As soon as contact was made, it started stinging again.

"Please let us go." I yelled.

My hands frantically grabbed at nothing, trying to find where my parents stayed.

The air was heavy with a thick fog so dark that you could hardly see two feet ahead of you.

It felt like I was underwater. But I wasn't.

A strong hand grabbed the back of my shirt and pulled me along through the darkness.

Dragging me on the hard floor, my back scraping every step he took, until finally, he stopped and let me go.

I fell forward onto my knees. My breath coming fast, sweat running down my neck and soaking into my tattered shirt.

I sat up, trying to get my bearings. The fog was making it difficult to tell where we were or even what time of day.

"We haven't even begun with you, once we do, your father would do as we say." The voice said.

I wasn't ready for the pain that hit me when the whip landed on me  again.

Every nerve ending in my body seemed to scream.

I curled up on the ground, pressing myself against the side of a wall. Trying to block out the pain as best I could.

Yet it didn't work, the whipping continued, hitting my skin, cutting deeper this time with each stroke.

Eventually, they left me alone to sit there.

Unable to move. Too frightened to even try to stand up. It took an entire hour before I could bring myself to open my eyes.

The room looked like an uncompleted project  room.

There were huge, unfinished wooden boards scattered around.

Several different sized hammers and saws lay in the corner by a large metal furnace, all with their blades stuck in the floorboards.

My heart thumped fearfully as I thought of my parents and how they were fairing, the fear of them being hurt hit me harder than I imagined

I heard footsteps and scuffles, and suddenly my eyes were blindfolded.

I struggled to breathe in.

Then, after what felt like hours, I could feel someone lift my chin slightly and pull down the blindfold.

The world was a blur at first, then slowly came into focus.

The room looked just as I remembered it.

Whoever took me and my family must want something from me, something I'm not sure my mom and dad were willing to give.

I tried standing up yet it didn't work, the chains dragged me back, the realization that I was tied up made me feel more scared.

"Let me out of here." I yelled.

A laugh rang out "You're going nowhere."

"Please, let me go!" I screamed, tears pouring down my cheeks, unable to stop them now.

Another chuckle followed, "I can't really afford to do that. We'll just have to wait till your father does what we want."

"Let me out of here." I screamed louder, my throat aching.

The man walked up to me, slapping me immediately. His hand moved swiftly across my face leaving behind a trail of burning heat, my wolf whined in pain.

Pain exploded in my head. Everything went black for a few seconds before I was jerked roughly backwards.

Someone pushed me away from him again, and another slap, this one harder, sent me sprawling on the wooden floor.

I heard a loud snap as I crashed to the floor.

Tears rolled freely down my cheeks, mixing with blood.

I couldn't move. Everything hurts. I did not know if I'll survive this.

I tried looking up but I was unable to focus. I was starting to lose feeling in my arms and legs.

I could feel my heart pounding. There was blood everywhere. My vision blurred, I closed my eyes.

"Just pray to the goddess." The man said.

"My boss is meeting with your father and this last meeting will determine their fate." He continued.

I kept my eyes shut tightly, refusing to listen to anything else, as the man talked about how they will take our pack away.

I could hear my heartbeat slowing. No use resisting anymore.

All of a sudden there was silence.

Silent except for my beating heart. Yet an eerie feeling crept over me, I suddenly felt lonely, in a way I couldn't understand.

My wolf whined, making me more suspicious of why I was feeling this way.

I just knew that something happened, I didn't know what it was, but I was certain that something happened.

The door opened and the man walked in, he looked like the boss here with the smile he kept on his face.

"He's up, he should hear this news." He laughed maniacally.

I could easily guess he was the one giving the orders and I'm sure he planned all this.

"Congratulations, you're now an orphan."He said.

I stilled blinking at him repeatedly, trying to understand what he meant, he smiled at me making me feel like ripping his throat out.

"Well they couldn't resist my torture and they died, now you'll take me to your pack." He said dragging me up.

The news I heard made me too limp to say a word, I couldn't believe my parents were dead and he was the reason.

I led the way to my pack, trying to think of a way to leave them, I couldn't stand walking with the ones responsible for my parents death.

My mind came up with one thing, and I wasn't going to go back down now.

Filled with an insane energy I didn't realize, I broke the chains slipping off immediately into the forest.

I ran as fast as I could, hoping desperately that my plan would work.

I used a route to throw them off, making some of them fall into the traps my father laid for rogues.

I averted them that day, yet I didn't forget his face, the man who did all this.

I was shocked that I had a mate, yet I was more terrified that my mate looked exactly like the man I've been wanting to kill for years, the man I searched for and found out he was dead, the man I swore I will hate and make suffer.

I didn't care if she was my mate, as long as she's his daughter, I will make her suffer for what her father made me go through.
