Bad Memories

Third POV

"Isn't that the girl's voice?"

Elijah asked directly to Emrys, the female witch who was concocting medicinal potions inside her room there. Emrys looked straight at Elijah who was frowning frantically.

"I think it's true. That seems to be the girl's voice."

Emrys replied mutteringly while putting back the herbal ingredients that were in the palm of his hands there.

"I'll check it out."

Elijah muttered, then ran very quickly to the room where Luciana was right now. Elijah ran up the stairs, and opened the door to the room with a swift motion. Elijah looked at the bed, and immediately widened his eyes, unable to find Luciana there. Elijah walked into the room, casting his eyes in every direction in the room. And not long after that, Elijah heard the sound of sobbing on the other side of the bed there.

"Oh my... hey..."

Elijah muttered with relief when he found Luciana still sitting on the floor with her body bent over crying now. Elijah quickly, walked over to Luciana, and grabbed both of her arms. That instantly made Luciana startle and look at Elijah with her whole face full of tears there. Elijah looked at Luciana with a small frown on his forehead.

"What's going on? Why are you crying? Does something hurt? How did you fall here?"

Elijah immediately asked with quite a few questions in there. Elijah slowly pushed aside the hair covering Luciana's puffy face, and tried to look for injuries or things that had caused Luciana to cry.

"That... there..."

Luciana stammered while still crying small sobs there, starting to extend the index finger of her right hand towards the mirror. Luciana looked at Elijah and also at the mirror there with her eyes that looked unfocused now. Elijah continued to watch Luciana and the mirror at the back of his body now.

"What's wrong? What's in the mirror? I don't understand..." Elijah muttered until he unconsciously tightened his grip on Luciana's arms a little now.

"That... that's not my face. What... what happened to my face? I don't recognize that face at all.... hiks... what happened to my face? Why did my face change?"

Luciana burst into tears again, sobbing quite loudly. That instantly made Elijah turn into a panic. With quick movements, Elijah gently wiped away the tears on Luciana's face.

"Please, stop crying. I will definitely explain everything to you. But don't cry anymore... calm down..." Elijah tried to calm Luciana, who was still sobbing from the shock.

Especially when Luciana looked at the image of herself, her own face, her whole face had changed. Although in a good way. Luciana's face no longer bore the burn marks that she last remembered. But a complete change? That had never even crossed Luciana's mind before. As such, Luciana was completely shocked, and couldn't control her own feelings.

As for Elijah, without saying anything else, he immediately helped Luciana to stand up, and decided to carry Luciana back towards the bed now. Slowly, Elijah placed Luciana back onto the bed, and helped Luciana lean against the headboard, while covering Luciana's legs with a blanket.

Elijah paused and looked at Luciana who lowered her head while wiping her tear-drenched face. Elijah turned his head toward the table beside the bed and picked up a tissue on the table, handing it to Luciana. Luciana accepted the tissue and gently wiped her face. Afterward, Elijah sat down next to Luciana.

"Are you feeling better and more relaxed?" Elijah asked in a murmur.

"Yes..."

Luciana replied with a mumble as she nodded her head with slow movements there. Luciana paused and gripped the tissue tightly in the palm of her right hand, and looked at Elijah who was sitting nearby now. Elijah, who continued to watch Luciana, nodded his head, and felt a little relieved.

"I know that you're probably going to be shocked by the condition you're in. With your whole body being immobilized and stiff. And the changes on your face. But it's all for the sake of your recovery. What's more, you've been unconscious for a year." Elijah muttered as he explained slowly to Luciana.

Luciana, who was listening to this, immediately fell silent, and widened her eyes to look incredulously at Elijah right now. "A year? I've been unconscious since a year ago? So, I... I was really asleep for a year?" Luciana muttered in disbelief.

Elijah nodded his head in slow motion, while looking at Luciana with a hardened expression on his face, but a gentle look in his eyes. Not at all commensurate with the long scar on Elijah's face there.

"Yes. You've been asleep for a year, and only now are you waking up." Elijah immediately confirmed Luciana's words right there.

Luciana, who heard this, sighed loudly. Luciana felt dizzy again when she heard that she had been unconscious for a year. Luciana rubbed her forehead slowly, and blinked her eyelids several times in quick movements. Luciana tried to refocus her mind and her gaze on Elijah.

"So, you saved me? Where did you find me a year ago?" Luciana asked Elijah again while starting to feel a little anxious now.

"I did save you. That night, I was looking for game in the forest, and I heard an explosion. At first, I thought it was a gun, but then I saw a large building on fire. I was curious, as I'd never been inside the forest before, and decided to investigate. Instead, I saw you unconscious at the edge of the forest with severe injuries. I decided to take you with me and take care of you. That's all that was on my mind that night." Elijah mumbled an explanation while recalling the events of a year ago there.

"That's my pack..."

Luciana muttered as she looked away from Elijah. As for Elijah, he looked straight at Luciana.

"He and the rest of his warriors have completely destroyed everything I had."

"I don't know what happened to you that night. Especially with your condition, which has been difficult to regain consciousness for the past year. I didn't know if you could survive or not. And I'm really sorry, because I couldn't ask you directly for permission to perform treatments that exceeded my limits." Elijah lowered his eyes slightly, and Luciana turned her head back to look at Elijah with a puzzled look.

"I asked Emrys, the witch who examined your condition earlier, to heal all the wounds on your body. Including your face. Emrys, decided to change your entire face, because she couldn't bring back your old face."

Luciana remained silent, and also waited until Elijah finished explaining about all the things that had happened during the year she had been unconscious there. "That's why, your face has completely changed and is no longer the same as before. Although, I don't know how you looked before. But I'm sure that you yourself didn't even want to have a burn like that in the first place. It looks like a forced wound." Elijah continued his words while giving a small glance right at Luciana there.

Luciana, who was listening to Elijah's explanation to her, let out her breath slowly. "Thank you so much for all the help you've given me over the past year. I don't know what would have happened to me if you hadn't come to help me that night." Luciana muttered with a small smile on her face.

"I don't know what I would really feel if I still had that burn on my face. But I'll learn to get used to this new face now. After all, I'm still me. Only my face and fate have changed. It doesn't matter...... it's not a big deal. It's just my face and destiny that are different."

Luciana lowered her head slightly to hide the puddles of tears that were beginning to show on her eyelids. Quickly, Luciana wiped away the tears that had fallen down her face, and looked back at Elijah.

"Sure, you're welcome..." Elijah smiled a little and nodded his head with a faint movement.

"But, if you don't mind... can I ask you something?" Elijah looked at Luciana with a curious look there.

"Just ask... I'll answer it." Luciana replied with a small mumble.

"How did you get all those wounds on your body and face that night? Was... that big burning building also your residence?" Elijah began to ask in his slow tone of voice now. Luciana was silent for a moment, and let out her breath there.

"It was the night of my eighteenth birthday. And that building was indeed my home. The Crescent Moon Pack. It was the same night my family and I used to celebrate my birthday. A simple event, and not many guests."

Luciana paused in her speech with a small smile, remembering that warm moment on her birthday night a year ago with her family and the members of The Crescent Moon Pack. As for Elijah, he remained silent, and listened to Luciana's story right there and now.

"Until after I blew and cut the tart, an injured warrior came and said that The Crescent Moon Pack had been attacked. Our pack was attacked by Harrison Hux and his warriors, the Alpha of The Silver Moon Pack. They all attacked and killed my pack members in a very sadistic and brutal way. My mom and dad asked me to hide in the basement along with the heirlooms belonging to The Crescent Moon Pack. At first I didn't want to, but my parents insisted. I finally complied, and brought our pack heirloom to hide in the basement. At first I thought, no warrior would be able to find me there. But I was wrong. They finally managed to find me and brought me before Harrison. And it turned out he was my own mate. He destroyed my family and my pack."

"What? He is your mate? But he destroyed your life." Elijah muttered in disbelief. Luciana smiled bitterly.

"I thought so too. But now, he’s my ex mate. That I always prayed that the Moon Goddess would bring me together with my mate, but the result... my mate is the one who destroyed my whole life in one night. He also killed my parents. Harrison wanted to get the heirloom of The Crescent Moon Pack that I had hidden inside the secret basement wall. I told him that I would never give it to him, and he decided to burn half of my face off." Luciana sighed as she felt the tightness inside her chest now. Luciana tried very hard not to cry in there anymore.

"I managed to get a chance to escape, but the two warriors who had previously managed to find me in the basement, came after me on Harrison's orders. I remember very well how it felt like the sword those warriors carried pierced my body, and they left me at the edge of the ravine. I don't really know if they'll burn down The Crescent Moon Pack. But I hope that within this year, they won't manage to find our heirloom there. That was all I could remember before the darkness. I also remembered another thing that I wished I could go back and avenge the destruction and death of my entire family. And I have the answer now. Moon Goddess brought you to help me that night. I am very grateful for that."

Luciana looked at Elijah while smiling once again there with a very sincere feeling. Luciana was grateful to have met Elijah. Or more accurately, Elijah had found her. Hearing that, Elijah immediately averted his gaze, looking a little misguided there, then he also stood up from his sitting position.

"I'm going to go get Emrys to check on your condition again right now. What's more, you were able to walk earlier. So perhaps, Emrys can administer the potion quickly to be able to recover your body condition even faster now. I'll leave first."
