CHAPTER TWO

                     ASHER'S POV

I couldn't stop thinking about the girl I saw at Wade's office. I downed another cup of whiskey with a sigh.

"What is wrong with you, bro? You never drink this much." My brother asked.

"You needed to have seen her, Ryder. Her tears… Damn it! I felt like strangling Wade." I said as I imagined choking Wade to death.

"You have to get yourself together. She's just an ordinary woman." My brother said, rolling his eyes.

I leveled him with a skin-peeling look and he shook his head. He didn't understand what was going through my head. I was obsessed with this lady.

"Get her out of your head, Ash." He told me.

"If you say one more thing that will irritate me, I'll forget you are my brother and I'll throw you out my office window." I threatened him, hoping he would keep his mouth shut.

"You know you are not going to do that." He laughed with arrogance.

"Don't be cocky, Ryder. It's not a good thing for you." I picked up a file on my desk and opened it, reading its contents.

"I have never seen you like this before," Ryder said, getting on my nerves.

I had no reason to be seething with anger or directing said anger at my brother. I just needed to calm myself.

The table under my hand caved in. I looked at the dent at the corner of the table and realized how tightly I was holding it.

"Now, you need a new table. I blame the girl. Your emotions are haywire." He told me.

I knew he was right but I ignored him. If I don't get my feelings under control, I'll shift and I couldn't let that happen.

The door to my office opened and my sister, Willow, walked in. She took one look at me, the dented table, and my brother then shook her head.

"Did you annoy him again?" Her question was directed at Ryder.

"What? Am I always the problem?" He said, completely taken aback by her question. "Anyway, he's in love."

"In love?" My sister looked at me with raised eyebrows.

"I'm not in love. I'm just… " Ryder interrupted me before I could complete my sentence.

"He is not just in love, he is obsessed with the girl, he doesn't even know her name," Ryder spoke.

I walked around my desk and to Ryder. I smacked the back of his head hard. He practically jumped out of his seat as I made to smack him again.

My sister walked up to me cautiously. She put a hand on my bicep and gave me a warning look.

I rolled up the shirt sleeve of my right arm and I saw blue scales crawling up my arm, my dragon was close to the surface. I took a deep breath to steady myself and the scales retreated.

"You need to calm down, Ash," my sister said, "Now tell me about this girl Ryder is talking about."

I put my hands in the pocket of my pants and took another deep breath. I told her everything, from when I laid eyes on the stunning lady to questioning Wade on everything about her.

Wade gave me the only information truly needed, her name, Luna.

"I think Wade doesn't want you to get to know her."

The door to my office opens and my secretary ambles in. She gave me one of her sultry looks before speaking.

"Excuse me, sir. There is someone here who wants to speak with you." She declared.

"Does she have a name?" I fired at her.

"Hmmm… She didn't give me a name, sir. I f-forgot to ask for her name." She stuttered.

A long-legged lady with red hair and a small stature walked into my office and smiled at me.

"Maya? What are you doing here?" I was irritated and Maya was the last person I wanted to see right now.

One of the biggest missteps I ever made was getting into the same bed with Maya.

"C'mon, Ashie. That's no way to welcome a lady." She said in a low, seductive voice.

"What do you want, Maya? I am not going to ask again." I cautioned her.

"I just wanted to know if the party is still one. I want to bring a plus one and I need to know if that's alright." She inquired.

"You're telling me you came to my office this morning to ask me such a ridiculous question." I gave her a look that told her to either get out or feel my rage.

"Don't give that look, sugar cake. It was just a simple question. I don't know why your panties are in a bunch."

She uttered more rubbish but I restrained myself from pulling her out of my office.

"Get out, Maya! No one wants to hear your annoying chatter." My sister said.

Maya looked mortally offended by my sister's words, given they were friends. She turned on her heels and walked out, leaving the doors ajar.

"The next time this happens, I'll fire you. Now leave." I told my secretary who sighed with relief that I didn't fire her on the spot.

She nearly ran out. The doors closed behind her and I concentrated on my siblings.

"Forget about this girl. There's a party tonight, focus on that." My sister told me.

"Willow's right. Forget about her and enjoy tonight." My brother agreed with my sister.

            "Honestly, I can't. I want her and I'll get her." I said matter-of-factly.

"Fine. How about this? I'll try to find her for you. Just send me everything you know about her." My sister said with a hint of impatience.

She knew I was extremely stubborn. I always wanted things my way and I must have them my way. I always got whatever I wanted.

"You have just said that first," I told my sister with a little smugness.

I faced my brother whose legs were now hoisted on the edge of my table. I took one look at him and chose to ignore him. He quickly dropped his legs and immediately noticed my eyes on him.

My sister left with a reminder of the party and I continued with my work.
