13. Right All Along

Silvan’s POV

“The coronation should be held soon. There are already whispers,” someone stated as the meeting got to its climax.

I shifted my gaze to my mother, and I could tell she sensed my warning because she looked away while faking a cough.

“I won’t be returning anytime soon. We can talk about the coronation in the next meeting,” I replied, eager to leave.

After waiting for three years and ensuring I was right, I finally brought Esme to my home.

To my world.

And I wanted to be there with her.

“That means we can start preparing for the Royal wedding?” Another elder in the family asked, and my brows furrowed slightly.

I didn’t want to rush things with Esme.

She had spent the last three years hating me and thinking of me as the worst person in the world.

I wanted us to take our time at being friends, partners and then an official couple.

But I also knew it was impossible to crown a new king who didn’t have a bride.

It was one of the rules passed down century after century.
