"Hey mom, hey dad." I greeted walking into the kitchen."Hey sweetie, I made your favorite." My mom said putting a scrambled egg with two chocolate chip pancakes with it. And even put the best thing with it.Hash Browns. You can't go wrong with Hash Browns. "Have you seen dad, mom?" I asked glancing around the kitchen."He had some work he needed to do first.""What's up, Mrs. Fawson!" Thea shouted, barging into the house. That girl has no personal space."Hi, Thea." My mom slightly groaned. She's not a big fan of Thea. My father doesn't like her either which isn't surprising. Thea's got one of those personalities that is a tad harder to handle. Nonetheless, she's my best friend. She's the only reason why I go to school. As I finished my breakfast I noticed how fancy my mom looked. She was in one of her nicer outfits."Where are you going, mom?" I asked grabbing my backpack."Oh, I and your father are meeting with some friends. We're discussing a business opportunity today.""Oh with
Five years later.Melody's POVEver since Liam walked out of the hospital telling me he never loved me I never saw him again. I knew from that day on I'd never see him again. Or any of his men again. And I never wanted to. He broke my heart. Though we never became a thing we had our moments. There were days we got close to kissing and all that romantic stuff. But someone would walk in and would ruin the moment. It's as if something in this world didn't want us to be together. But I never looked for him like some girls would. Why would I want someone who broke my heart? I didn't want anything to do with him or his mafia. I moved on and started over. I made a new life for myself and created a new me. I moved from New York to Washington. I know that's pretty far away from New York. But I didn't have anyone left there. I went to apologize to Thea but she already left for San Francisco. She probably wouldn't forgive me after what I did to her. How I lied to her how I yelled at her for no
Melody POV ‘‘Guys, I’m 21! You can’t keep me here for the rest of my life!” I hollered. “I want to live my own life! And I want to discover who I am.” “I know, sweetheart.” My mom says, giving me her sweet smile. “We want you to be safe. We want nothing tragic to happen to you.” my father paused. “Again?” I quickly barked. I almost died in a car crash when I was 17. My ex-boyfriend was upset with me about something and he had severe road rage. And he had a bad temper. We were upside down on the road. After that, though, I can’t remember much. I don’t remember going to the hospital or how we even got hit. When the officers questioned me, I told them I don’t remember other than the car being upside down. Along with some other stuff they questioned me about. Ever since that day, I’ve had a super protective family. Well, more protective, I should say. It happened on the way home from somewhere in New York City, which is where I’ve lived my whole life. I don’t remember tons about tha
I had put on three dresses and I’d walk out and Mack and Frank would immediately tell me to go back and change. It was getting quite infuriating. On my fourth outfit, I decided on a simple outfit instead of something that would make Mack and Frank disapprove of my outfit. Again. I picked out ripped blue jeans with an off-the-shoulder black shirt with some Adidas sneakers. As for my hair, I grabbed an orange scrunchie, put it in my hair, and did a high ponytail. “How about this outfit?” I asked, walking towards Mack and Frank and doing a little twirl for them. They both nodded, finally pleased with my outfit. Thank goodness, I have no clue what else I would wear. I have to be careful about which outfits to wear. Especially in this house. Any clothes that I like to wear are now in the junkyard. And with Mack and Frank, they’re extremely careful with the things I wear. And sometimes it sucks. But it’s different when events arrive. Why? No clue. I don’t get told a ton of things in thi
We arrived at Thea's house and I walked her inside. She threw up in the sink, and slowly she got into bed and was out like a light. I grabbed her some water and grabbed her some ibuprofen for when she woke up tomorrow with a throbbing headache. After getting her to bed, We drove home. I said goodnight to Mack and Frank and went upstairs to head to bed. After getting my face washed and my teeth and hair brushed, I got into my gray hoodie that said New York on it with some high-waisted black leggings. I usually left my hair down but tonight I decided that I'd put my hair into a French braid. Once I slipped into bed, I almost immediately fell asleep with Liam on my mind. -----I got back to my home and called an emergency meeting and told them I had to change things because of some complications. Truth be told, I don't want to kidnap her at all. She seems innocent, and she didn't know the life her parents truly lived. The life she would have to inherit once her parents died. But I have
My mind was racing and my heart was racing. Mack coming into my room and gunfire in the house was beyond petrifying. As I ran I heard voices and footsteps running toward me. They weren't voices I recognized, I knew everyone in my house and they weren't here to protect me. I couldn't hear the gunfire coming from the house anymore. The way Mack seemed calm like this has happened before but, once the door started getting knocked down that's when I saw horror plastered all over his face. He seemed scared of whatever was outside that door. I could see that he was terrified of what could happen to me.Once I hit the end of the tunnel I pushed open the door and ran faster than I'd ever done in my whole life. After a while of running, I decided to take a quick breather since I'd been running for what felt like hours."Split up again, find her!" A man demanded. That voice...I've heard it somewhere. As I'm trying to put the pieces together, that's when I remembered where I heard that voice. He
He was walking towards the table he had hit and was unrolling something. It looked like a massive roll of fabric. "Mack, what the hell is going on? Who is this guy?" I asked, indicating that I was talking about Liam. "SHUT UP!" Liam shouted once more. This guy has a serious temper. "Liam, she knows nothing. Leave her out of this." Mack said furiously. Know what? What is he talking about? He grabbed a throwing knife and walked over to me. It reminded me of the knives that they used in the first Divergent movie. And at that thought, I squirmed a little. "Mack was it?" Liam said, trying to provoke more anger in Mack. Which it's working, "Answer my questions and she doesn't get hurt. Got it?" "Liam I can't, you know that. I swore an oath to her parents." "Shame," Liam said. He bent down to my level and gave me a smirk. I felt the coldness of the knife slowly cut into my left arm. I bit the inside of my cheek and could feel tears attempting to leave my eyes. He stopped when my breat
"Goodbye Mack.""Melody, I love you." Mack said.Liam pulled the trigger. Liam had shot Mack in the heart and in the head. Liam unchained Mack and his body collapsed to the floor.I wanted to scream and yell at him. He'd swore he wouldn't kill Mack. And yet he did. I can’t believe I fell for that! I know a liar when I see them. I guess I’m not good at seeing that like I used to.He looked at me and could see the hatred that was all over my face. He walked towards me and ripped the duct tape off my mouth quickly."Ow!" I shouted. I want to cry at this point. Mack was gone and he said that others had been killed. He's going to torture me more at this point. I'd rather die than have to see anymore of this. I don’t want to go through this kinda pain again. I felt the hand of the person holding my face let go. But this time he covered my mouth with his hand instead."I can see how mad you are. I know I lied but, I'm part of a mafia which isn't an excuse for anything. But I usually don't
