Chapter 5 She might be a witch

Hattie's POV

"Can you slow down a bit?!" Christine shouted behind me, but I wasn't planning on stopping, running as fast as the wind, but I still felt slow because I was without my wolf

I wasn't supposed to show her the pack house, but at this point, I didn't care. Nothing made sense to me and the only thing I cared about was finding an explanation for all this. Even though I hated Alpha Stanley, it wasn't going to stop me from seeking his help.

"What?!" I exclaimed in disbelief when I got to where the pack house was supposed to be. I was too stunned to speak.

"What is it?" Christine asked as soon as she was able to get to where I was.

It wasn't there. The pack house was gone. I was about to panic when I suddenly remembered that wolves use a certain power to hide their pack house from humans. Since I was an ordinary human and didn't have the eyes of a wolf anymore, I couldn't see it.

"Fuck" I cursed under my breath. "Fuck!" This time I screamed out in anger. "This is the end Christine"

"Woah Mirabel calm down," Christine said, trying to calm me down.

"Don't fucking call me Mirabel!" I snapped at her. "Don't call me that"

She was taken aback, but kept her cool by giving me a nervous smile. "Mirabel what are you talking about?"

At that point, I realized the universe was indeed testing me. I fell to the floor in exhaustion and frustration."If this is a test, please stop this" I begged quietly. "Moon goddess, what is this?" I screamed out and immediately realized I was being too rude. "I'm sorry" I let out a sharp breath. "But please... I'm sorry for complaining about my past life. If this is a lesson to teach me how to be content, well, lesson learned" I stayed quiet. Even though I knew nothing was going to happen, I still waited and when nothing did, I screamed. "What do you want from me?! What? You can't bloody do this to me. I have full right over my body" I screamed my lungs out while Christine stared at me like I had lost my mind.

"Are you okay?" She was extremely worried about me and I couldn't blame her.

"I don't have a fucking problem, the universe does"

"I understand this might be hard for you, but you...."

"You don't know anything. You red, blonde psycho" I screamed at her and walked away, leaving her there. I instantly felt bad for rebuking her like that, but at that point, I was too insane to apologize.

I walked away from her in anger. While I walked, I felt my phone vibrate in my bag. Groaning in frustration, I dipped my hands into my sweatpants pocket, grabbed my phone, and answered it.

"What?" I snapped in anger.

"Woah, Mirabel are you okay?" Rebecca, my supposed mother asked worriedly, but she only added to my rage.

"Yeah, I am," I said, not failing to make sure my anger was noticeable.  I was resisting the dying urge to curse at her and end the call, but I had to be respectful because she was my mother and was basically feeding me.

"The driver called that he has been waiting for over 2 hours but no sign of you"

"What? I can't bloody take a walk home?"

"Mirabel, nobody said that. If you didn't want to be driven home from school, you should have said something"

"Well, I don't want to be driven home from school today or any other day. How about that?"

"Mirabel... "

I didn't let her finish. "And don't fucking call me Mirabel" I screamed at her and end the call.

"a bunch of assholes" I cursed under my breath. I was about to scream those words out loud when I heard footsteps. I slowed down my pace, glancing around to see who it was. When I looked to my side, I saw him and my heart stopped.

Austin was walking in the opposite direction not too far from him. He was going to the pack house. My heart leaped for joy as I bent to the floor, waiting for him to get far enough so I could follow him. It was a risky thing to do because he was a werewolf and had heightened senses, but I was too desperate to care.

Backpack behind his back and a headset in his ear, he walked fastly which made it perfect to sneak up behind him without him noticing.

He had gotten far enough and I decided to follow him. "Keep it steady Katrina," I said to my wolf even though I didn't have her anymore. I was already too used to her to accept the fact that she was gone.

I stepped on a branch and it snapped.

"fuck" My heart skipped a beat. My eyes widened as I looked at Austin, but he kept walking so it was obvious he didn't hear it.

I continued walking, more stealthily than before. Something clasped my leg and I bent to remove it. By the time I raised my head to continue walking, I couldn't find him again.  I looked around in Astonishment.

"Where the fuck did he... " I wasn't allowed to finish my sentence when I was pushed to the ground by someone. It all happened so fast and roughly too. By the time I was able to regain my stance, I gulped. Austin was the one who pushed me and he was on top of me!

I looked at every other place, but his eyes. The death stares he threw at me, his face, not an inch far away from mine, made me shiver.

"Why the fuck are you following me?"

There was no way he expected me to find my words when both my hands were pinned to the floor by him and he kept looking at me like that. I couldn't find my words. "I... I... Uhm... I wasn't"

"Don't lie you bitch"

I gulped. "If you could just let me sit up and explain myself properly"

"I don't see any duck tape on your lips"

"Ahhhh" I faked a cry. "My hand hurts"

"It will make you talk faster"

" I already told you, I wasn't following you"

"What business do you have here then?"

"I was... I was taking a stroll. Your face is just an inch away from mine" I blurted out when I couldn't take it anymore.

He hesitated, but eventually stood up and so did i. Then came the awkward part. I still had to explain myself.

"I was strolling and" When I saw he wasn't paying any attention, I immediately took to my heels. It was useless to run because he was surely going to catch up with me, but it didn't stop me. I kept on running until I got exhausted and it dawned that he wasn't following me.

I stopped to catch my breath because I was practically out of breath. I panted as I placed my hand on my knees. I had never run so fast in my life. When I had my wolf, I didn't need to run so fast, my wolf Katrina would take over and run very fast. But I was awakened by the reality of no wolf

I looked behind me, resisting the urge to turn around and follow him, but when I thought of the possibility of losing my head, I frowned at it and decided to go home instead.

                           *******

Austin's POV.

It was the stupid bitch again. I stood, watching her run. I wanted to run after her, so I could get the truth out of her, but I didn't feel the need to.

One thing was certain, she was weird as fuck. What surprised me about her was how she was able to analyze every detail of my life. She kept mentioning Kira as my mate, but I had no mate. I had not found my mate since I got my wolf and I concluded I was cursed by the moon goddess. It was something I had long accepted. It was my destiny, my curse, probably a nemesis.

I had learned to leave with it, but when she brought the topic up, I felt the sting in my heart. How I wished all she said was true, that I did have a mate. But she was just a crazy freak that probably wanted attention. A human weak girl that irritated me.

"Hey asshole" I heard from behind and stopped to look behind me.

"You wasted a lot of time," I said to Derek who walked down the hill with a witty smile on his face as his blonde curly hair bounced with each stride.

"Yeah I had to get my girl's number"

"Daphne?" I asked with furrowed eyebrows.

"Who else?"

"Of course, the human girl," I said under my breath, but he heard it.

"You and your hatred for humans" he scoffed.

He was right, I hated them. I believed if I associated with them, their weakness would rub off on me. You couldn't blame me, that was how I was brought up. Derek, on the other hand, simply didn't care. He didn't have a mate like me, so that allowed him to mess around.

"A girl was running uphill, did you do something to her?"

"No, I didn't. She is the freak I told you about"

"Wait, she's that hot?" he chortled and I rolled my eyes at him.

"Grow up"

"Loosen up," he said to me. "She is certainly into you, throwing herself at you and you can't see it. Leave the mate bullshit and just go for it"

"Or not" I scoffed and turned to walk away.

"You are so uptight"

"You meant to say decent"

"Nah, uptight"

"but come to think of it" he ran to meet up with me. "How and why did you say something like that? How did she know so much?"

"That's what scares me?" It suddenly hit me and I turned to look at him. "What if she is some kind of spy?"

"A human, a spy?" He snickered in mockery.

"What if she is? Witches can hide their aura and also can see the pack house like werewolves. What if she is a witch and wants to get information about the blood moon pack"

"you are smart and all, but that doesn't make any sense"

"Then how did she know all those things?"

Derek let out a sharp breath. "I think we should tell Alpha Stanley before things get out of hand"

"No, leave it to me. I'll take care of it"
