Prologue

Into the world of desire and longing, I transpired. I was fused by the curse of the moon, and love emerged in every thread of my being. How could I resist such a connection between us? How could I have let myself be untouched by her touch? It was a tight knot written for centuries, one that only death could wound - never even immortality.

The countless daydreams of this inevitable event couldn't even match the reality before me. Inside me, there was a sense of belonging and familiarity, as if I was born to experience this, despite being just an ordinary person in their world. It was as if I were destined to share my skin and soul with a mystical being, shifting into the form of a werewolf. A creature so majestic and fearsome that anyone would shudder at the sight, yet here I was, standing before her human form, feeling a serene surge within me.

The Nexum - the ritual union of fated mates under the blood moon.

The nocturnal cast an inflamed glow through the cave, enough for me to see the woman in front of me. Her wavy blonde hair was like a curtain, sheathing the night, while her entire form exuded elegance. Against the backdrop of shadows and light, Val's presence shook my existence, and I could feel her passionate desire for me as she lightly touched my skin with her hand. Her eyes shone like a pair of aquarius gemstones, weakening my resistance to her dominance. Her gaze of desire was determined to possess me, and I, too, longed to be possessed, as long as it was by her. I could no longer deny this bond between us; it was too strong. Seeing her on the brink of death had dispelled all my hesitation and doubt. I wanted to protect her just as she was willing to shield herself to protect me.

"Sage, I'm yours as you are mine. It's a gift that no one can ever take away from us," Val murmured, gently placing her forehead against mine. "I'm dying to be one with you, my half-moon."

"Then let us become one tonight," I said, almost in a whisper but full of determination. Those words brought new life to her face, and it aroused me to the core that we were going to be united as one until the end.

That sole idea brought comfort and happiness to my heart.

With immeasurable yearning, Val pressed her lips against mine. The graceful touch of her kiss made me feel weightless, as if I were soaring. I had never realized that darkness could be this erotic as I closed my eyes, surrendering to the sensation.

The cursed night bore witness to our soulful connection, bonding us together in a link that would never be broken. As long as death kept its distance from our union, as long as we had the will to live together, nothing could sever the ties of our love for each other. Soon, after we became one, I would no longer be an individual but a twin soul merged into one. Sage Reese Sullivan was nothing more than the other side of the world, left behind.

Soon, I would be reborn as the half of the Valkyrie of the Scarred Moon.
