Chapter 6

“Get up!”

Xegris pulled the blanket away from the bed making the person lying woke up startled. Hellion look at him in a daze. Xegris clicked his tongue at her and pulled her away from the sheets.

Hellion wobbled a bit and finally sobered herself up. She glared at Xegris in gritted teeth. It’s too early! It’s not even dawn yet but he woke her up just to annoy her again! Hellion fixed her bed hair and glared at Xegris with her puffy eyes.

“What do you want?” She urged him. She still want to lay down and sleep so she want to quickly get it over with. Xegris point towards the door as he irritatingly said to her.

“Go wash up! You totally stink of sweat that I can’t even get a wink of sleep last night!”

Hellion snorted at him, trying to stomach his words. She hurriedly get up from the sheets and start sniffing herself, thinking that he’s probably finding fault on her again. After a while of sniffing, she froze up.

Xegris eyed her up with disgust and added. “If you want to be with me then go take a bath. I don’t have the habit of smelling trash!”

Hellion clenched her fist as she tried to hold back the urge to slap him. She never felt so humiliated before and she definitely don’t get a humiliation compared to his! Damn it! If you couldn’t sleep a wink then why lie next to me when I have a horrible smell?! Realizing that she just embarrassed herself, Hellion pursed her lips and slowly loosen up her irritated nerves.

This! This Shameless! Despicable! Jerk!

She gritted her teeth, clenched hard enough to break her canines.

How dare he order her around like she’s some sort of his lackey? She only came to him because of her needs! Hold on, that sounds a bit off! She only stayed with him because she ne--! Argh!

She sneered at him and said in a hard tone. “Just because I said I need you doesn’t mean you can order me as you please! I’m not your damn dog!”

She then strode off from the room as she slammed the door in a loud bang. Xegris’ eyebrows twitch a bit as he look at the door. That girl! She still have some nerves to act high and mighty in front of him. Just you wait you damn woman! I’ll make you crawl and beg with shame!

Xegris pulled on his hair in frustration. He put on a grim expression in his face and look at the window of the inn. His thoughts rumbling in his head as the frustration immediately vanished at a sudden presence of someone. Xegris coldly looked at the window and said in a serious tone.

“Come in.”

A person with a dark mask on her face along with an identical twin in her side showed up and bowed in front of him. The three were a pair of boys and a woman in the middle. All of them are wearing an armor and carrying daggers on their waist, their crimson eyes carefully peeked at Xegris face.

“My Lord. We finished the task.”

Dev glanced up at him with a stern face. Her crimson eyes, tinted with fear as she tried to calm her trembling hands.

“Did you count properly?” He coldly asked.

Dev uncontrollably shook when she heard his cold tone. She could already feel the rapid drop in the temperature of the room and the dangerous aura coming from the person in front of her. How many? She did count properly but she don’t get why the Lord wants to count! He would kill his own people just because of those mere humans! Dev bit her lips as she hesitated. If she lie to him, she would be first to die. Thank goodness, she counted properly.

She nodded her head in fear and finally blurt out the exact number. “It’s eight million and a half, My Lord.”

Xegris coldly look at her as if he was looking at a corpse. Over millions with only few of the prisoners. Their negligence is too much. His purple eyes glinted in crimson as he slowly said. “You know what to do.”

Dev trembled on the ground, her original kneeling position suddenly turned into a kowtow. The Lord was angered to this point. Many humans died and they are the ones in fault. If the count was not met then even their lives won’t be spared.

Dev knew that the Lord never go back on his words. He never take back what he says and killing is just a mere thing for him. The Demon King could even kill a hundred thousands of them without even batting an eye. How could she dare to refute him?

Dev trembled uncontrollably. She had witnessed all those scenes so much that she no longer dared to question his supremacy.

The room temperature suddenly decreased as the sudden surge of dangerous aura enveloped the throne hall. Dev banged her head on the ground repeatedly. No matter how many times she asked for forgiveness. Her friend would never be spared.

Dev already lost her hope. She shuddered in fear as she lowered her head even more. She then replied in a trembling voice. “Yes. My Lord.”

After she replied they heard a light knock on the door. All people turned their heads and look at Xegris.

He just gave them a cold look as he motioned them to leave. The three bowed and finally disappeared in the black smoke. Xegris then walked towards the door and opened it.

His voice nagging, “What took you so long?”

Hellion just eyed him with annoyance and made her way inside the room without blurting a single word. She heard him speaking inside but there’s no one here? Is he talking to himself? No! She definitely heard a different voice just now.

Hellion silently stared at Xegris who just raised his brow at her.

‘What are you dilly-dallying for? Pack up, we have to leave.”

She pursed her lips and just obeyed his words without saying anything at all. Her behavior was strange and Xegris noticed it and got irritated. Did she became a mute after soaking for so long in the water?! Xegris slammed his hand on the wall as he surrounded Hellion in his arms. Hellion’s back was facing him so he don’t know what kind of expression she have right now.

Only that, she simply had a confusedly thinking face.

“What’s this? Did you finally decided to be obedient?” He slightly teased her as he pressed his weight into Hellion. The soft sensation of her skin pressed against his, the soapy smell along with a faint smell of peaches reached his nose. He remembered, she was fresh out of the bath and the soft, milk-like skin was blatantly exposed in front of him.

She was covered with a towel but he can feel his skin pressing in his. When she moved a bit, her butt brushed past his pants and Xegris almost lost his mind as he seems to have set up a tent down there. He wanted to reached out and squeezed the pair of buns but her words immediately halted his hand.

“Who are you talking to?”

Hellion pursed her lips and asked him as she blinked her eyes hard. Her curiosity peaked, Hellion instantly shut her mouth as she scold herself inside.

Xegris knitted his brows and turned her around to face him. He then lift her chin as he stared at her. How many questions did she asked him now? All these days, all she ever did was extracted a question or two out of him. Was she that curious about his private life? He really didn’t expect that she was like this. A goddamn nosy person and a total airhead. She sometimes catch on quick but sometimes slow about things. He can’t even feel at ease knowing himself answering her questions despite his irritation.

Xegris sighed as he leaned down to whisper, his hot breath brushing past her ears.

“Don’t poke your nose in my matters. It’s disgusting.” He said in a threatening tone.

Hellion widened her eyes, his voice sound so cold. It was the first time she heard him say something so seriously as if he was drawing a red line in front of her right now.

Hellion pushed him away a bit and sighed.

What’s so wrong about asking him that? Can’t she have the right to be curious about things now. It’s not like she was totally curious about him, she just wanted to make sure she could trust the same person talking inside that room. She just don’t want to lose that.

After thinking through the short moment they spent, she realized that this man is an unreasonable freak who only harbored perverted thoughts. Who cares who he talked to? He didn’t hear what they talked about, just a girl’s voice saying “Yes.” Must be one of those things, if she had to say.

Now that she know a bit about his damn personality, she slightly regretted her decision but not to the point she wanted to end things.

She turned her head towards the closet and mumbled.

“I just heard you talking outside so I thought you have gone mad. I only asked you to confirm it. Well, I guess you didn’t lose any screw.” She then turned her head as her gaze landed on the tent on his pants. “After all, you’re head is only filled with these polluted thoughts.”

Xegris: “…”
