The pack members sat in silence, their spoons tightly gripped in their hands, their eyes fixed on the three Alphas who surrounded Freya, carefully piling food onto her plate.
Steele couldn't resist but comment with a sigh, "You should eat more. You look so skinny."Knight and Hunter simultaneously turned their attention to Alexander, who clenched his knife so tightly that it began to bend, saved only by Mariah's quick intervention. The entire pack was on edge, wishing fervently that this was all a terrible nightmare. Everyone in the pack had wronged Freya at some point, and given the Alphas' apparent attachment to her, there was little doubt that punishment would follow if she were to speak up."Freya, isn't there something you'd like to clarify?" Alexander asked, offering her a strained smile when she glanced up at him.Freya stared at him for a moment and attempted to get up, but Hunter firmly held her down."What are you doing? I'm sure Alexander wouldn't mind if you said whatever you have to say when you're done. Don't you think so?" Hunter asked softly, casting a resentful look at Alexander.Alexander swallowed nervously but nodded in agreement. "Of course, but I think the sooner, the better.""Indeed. The sooner, the better. That's why I believe we should send our findings to the Council as soon as possible," Knight declared, causing Alexander to recall their earlier discussion from less than three hours ago."Alpha Knight!" Alexander exclaimed in a tense voice, his brows furrowing in worry. The pack members' fear had now transformed into visible disdain for Freya. Will had shared the true reason the Alphas had visited the pack - it wasn't due to any extraordinary qualities of the pack, but because it was under scrutiny and on the brink of dissolution. Will's words had not only revealed the Alphas' real intent but also implied that Freya played a role in it. The pack members knew their pack was in jeopardy because of her."Freya, I'm deeply sorry for what happened this morning. I woke up on the wrong side of the bed, and I... I just needed someone to take it out on. I'm truly sorry," Mariah apologized, her voice filled with sincerity.Freya took a moment before she glanced in Mariah's direction. Once again, Mariah reverted to being the loving and considerate sister everyone knew."Mariah is so nice and charming. Despite passing out due to a misunderstanding, she still owned up and apologized. Unlike someone who hides behind others," a voice murmured from the crowd, causing Freya's grip on her spoon to tighten.Hunter's gaze pierced through the onlookers until he pinpointed the individual who had spoken those words. He then shifted his attention to Will, who was seated beside Alexander.Mariah was quick to realize that the pack member was in trouble and was getting prepared to plead for the pack member who had spoken ill of Freya, fearing Hunter's wrath. However, she was surprised when Hunter didn't punish him. Instead, he stood up and placed both hands behind his back."Anyone who dares to speak ill of Freya Armstrong, my mate, and the future Luna of my pack, speaks ill of me and will be punished for it!" Hunter declared.Steele, not one to be outdone, also rose and declared, "Freya Armstrong is my mate, making her second only to me!"Knight, filled with jealousy, questioned their claims, saying, "What are you two beasts doing, claiming that my mate belongs to you? I'll kill anyone who speaks ill of her!"He turned his attention to Freya, who sat between Hunter and Steele, and continued, "Now, Alexander, I want the tongue of the bastard who made that snarky remark."Alexander spotted the trembling man in the crowd who had made the comment."Alpha Knight, I don't think he meant any harm with his words, right, Freya?" Alexander said with a warning glance toward her.Freya quickly nodded and replied, "Yes, he didn't. We play around here a lot."Knight clenched his fists and approached Alexander, breathing heavily as he said, "If my mate chooses to overlook it, I won't. Hand over his wretched tongue to me, or I will kill him with or without your permission."Alexander was about to look at Freya again when Knight pulled him closer by the collar, "Don't do that. You're scaring her.""Alpha Knight, I think this is just a misunderstanding," a middle-aged man spoke up, rising from his seat with a deep frown etched on his face.Knight turned his attention to the man, asking, "And who are you?"The middle-aged man walked up to Knight and introduced himself, "I'm Daniel Armstrong.""Armstrong?" Knight repeated, his brows furrowing in thought. "Freya's father?"Daniel hesitated briefly before confirming, "Yes, I am."Knight released his grip on Alexander's collar and faced Daniel squarely, sliding both hands into his pockets. "I see. I thought she was an orphan, which might explain why she forgot to eat last night while your other daughter did.""Freya is often busy with pack matters and doesn't always have the time to eat," Daniel explained, his expression unwavering."Another example of one of your pack members being neglected, Alexander. Another reason for this pack to be challenged by another pack," Knight commented with a smile, briefly glancing at Alexander before turning his gaze back to Daniel.“It was my fault. Mariah did nothing wrong!” Freya suddenly yelled, pushing her chair backward and getting up. Having everyone's attention, she gulped down nervously and repeated, “It was my fault. Mariah was only reprimanding me. Something I deserved."Alexander didn't waste any time walking up to Freya. He pretended to flash her a warm smile as he asked, “Don't you think there's something else you're supposed to do other than this?"Freya nodded, walked up to Mariah, and intending to give a knee-length bow. However, Hunter quickly intervened.“My Luna apologizing and bowing to you is something that will never happen again.” He spoke coldly, not just to Mariah but to everyone in the room.Without seeking Freya's opinion like before, Hunter held her arm and led her out of the room.Just when they thought everything was over, Knight strolled towards the man who had spoken ill of Freya, pried open his mouth, and pulled out his tongue! This action earned gasps from everyone in the room as the man who had just lost his tongue fell to the floor in pain while Knight tossed aside the bloody tongue.Alexander clenched his jaw tightly, his eyes darkening in rage as he watched Knight and Steele walk out of the dining room like nothing happened.“I'm certain this misunderstanding will be clarified.” Mariah said in consolation, placing her palm on his hand.Alexander nodded. That evening, he changed Freya's room to a luxurious one and filled its wardrobe with luxurious clothes to please the alphas.Freya stood by the window of her new room, her face devoid of any form of excitement. When Mariah approached her weeks ago looking like she had turned over a new leaf, Freya halted a plan of hers. She was often mistreated and most times beaten to a pulp by the other pack members and left for dead. So she began harboring resentment towards everyone in the pack, including Alexander. She managed to get her hands on numerous explosives she found in the weapon room whenever she was sent in to clean it.After Mariah's betrayal, Freya wanted nothing more than for everyone to evaporate with her. Since she couldn't get the same treatment like them, she figured it was only fair that they died the same way. However, the Alphas arrival to the pack made her conflicted. Their words and actions proved to be genuine, but she didn't doubt any of the stories she had heard about them. How they tortured any omega they found. If she wasn't their mate, they would've treated her like the other omegas they had come across. Their deaths would mean a safer world for other omegas. So her plan remains the same."Tomorrow, they'll all cease to exist." She resolved firmly.Night fell and soon, it was the morning of the next day. It was wednesday, one of the three days in a week the pack's prisoners were let out to do manual labor for the pack. At six in the morning, numerous pack warriors made their way to the cells. Chained men and women were pulled out of the cells. Among them was a dark-skinned man, tall and lanky, had long messy hair, an overgrown mustache and sharp eyebrows. His lips were thinned as he shut his eyes, attempting to adjust them to the sudden sunlight. When he opened them again, his sharp but tired brown eyes bore into everyone and everything he saw. He seemed fascinated. “Move it!” One of the pack warriors snorted, shoving the man forward. The dark-skinned man was led to a pile of cleaning equipment. He grabbed one of them and joined the rest of the prisoners as they took care of the littered pack. “I haven't seen him before.” Mariah, who had tasked herself with overseeing the work to impress Alexander as always, said, as soon a
“I don't understand why she has to go away.” Alexander outrightly stated his dissatisfaction when he was told the reason for the Council members' visit. “Having a mate isn't surprising, but having three is unaccounted for. Worse still, it was the daughter of a beta or the daughter of an alpha, but it was an omega.” Said the representative of the three members sent by the Council. During the course of their conversation, Freya had picked out their names. The representative, who was the only woman among the three of them, went by the name Cleopatra Chapman. Her father was one of the Alphas in the Council, or so Freya thought. After all, her father had to be someone important for her to get to be the Council's representative.Cleopatra was tall, about 5'8, lean, but not extremely and had a fair skin tone. She tied up her black hair into a ponytail and had the habit of tapping the floor a little too often. All this, Freya had noticed because she was bored and didn't want to bother herse
“Is this like a school or something?” Freya couldn't resist asking as numerous people, who seemed to be her age, walked past them. They had this bitchy look in their eyes. A look Freya didn't need an explanation for since Cleopatra had said something about the children here being that of Alphas, Betas and all the high-ranking positions. “Werewolves don't need secular education like humans. They are trained to be skilled in combat.” Cleopatra merely replied as she stopped in front of a door, slid a card in front of it before it clicked open. She pushed it further and walked in, so did Freya. Inside, a blondie watered her plants but paused and turned around when she heard the door open. “This is your roommate.” Cleopatra wasted no time in introducing them. “I'm Sarah Bennett. What's your name?” Freya's roommate introduced herself, extending her hand for a handshake. However, instead of accepting the handshake, Freya looked at it for a long time before she took a step backward, her
“There used to be four of us in a room. Then some renovation happened, and more rooms were cleared. Now we have a big, beautiful room to ourselves. Isn't that wonderful!” Sarah said in excitement as she finished her dinner. She kept the plate beside her, only to look up to see Freya staring at her in fixation. “What is it?”“Aren't we going to take the plate to the kitchen?” Freya asked, glancing at her empty plate. “There are people for that.” Sarah replied, waving her aside before she recalled Freya was an omega, which meant she probably did stuff like this in her old pack. Sure enough, she raised her eyes again to see Freya looking at her blankly. “Don't get me wrong. It's often used as punishment for misbehaving. So, whoever is coming to take our plates isn't someone with a low rank. It might even be an upcoming Alpha.” Sarah joked, but there was still no crack on Freya's expression. “I was talking down on you or anything.” “I know. I just recalled something important.” Freya
Freya fell to the ground like a bag of stone, only that this stone groaned in pain when she came in contact with the bare floor. She got up immediately and wiped the corners of her lips, which had burst open during her training with Mendoza. Mendoza smiled in satisfaction. Everyone knew she was using the opportunity to get even with Freya. But still, Finn didn't look like he planned to stop the training any time soon.“Get moving, Armstrong! You'll be killed as soon as you become Luna if you can't even guard against hits from someone who's helping you train!” Finn yelled coldly, and the hair on the back of Freya's neck stood. She raised her fists to her face and tightened them, her eyes following Mendoza's every move. “You're not the only one who has to be trained, Armstrong! Make a move or condemn yourself to being a weak Luna!” Finn's voice came up again, this time, closer to Freya's ears as he suddenly appeared behind her back. Freya clenched her jaw tightly, her eyes drooping.
Sarah opened the door to see Freya on her bed, with her back faced to the door. Seven days had passed since the incident with Mendoza back at the training house and since Freya learnt of Sarah's identity. Sarah closed the door and walked into the room to see the three course meal which had been delivered for breakfast, lunch and dinner, sitting on the table, untouched. Freya would get up minutes before it was time to go to bed to throw out the food. This had been going on for the past seven days. "I'm not going to let you throw away the food again. It takes a lot of effort for the chefs to make it and the ingredients used in making it is also a big deal." Sarah said pointedly, standing behind Freya. Ten seconds passed by before she heard Freya sigh and massage her face. "I don't want to eat." "Then you should get ready to be punished for wasting food." Sarah grimaced. Freya opened her eyes to look at Sarah as she said, "For some reason, whenever I eat the food, it opens up my
There was still silence for a moment before someone yelled, “It's Rose!” The whole training house went up in uproar after that as they rounded Rose with a flattery smile on their faces. Rose was the distant one who often stayed by the window, and Freya recognized her because she was the only one out of the three who had her hair cut like that of a boy's. She had a pretty serious look on her face and hardly smiled. Despite having numerous people trying to touch and talk to her, Rose had her eyes pinned on Freya. “That crazy man almost killed you. Thank goodness Rose was nearby to stop her.” Sarah said with a bright smile. Freya gulped down and lowered herself to the dead man, catching the attention of everyone. She was about to touch him when she got yanked back by Rose. “What the hell do you think you're doing? What is wrong with you?” Rose snarled. Freya tried to yank away her hand, but Rose's grip on it tightened, her eyes glowing fiercely. “You killed a man and no one is sa
Mendoza froze for a moment before she scoffed and walked closer to Sarah. “That sounds like an allegation that may or may not be true.” She uttered, then raised a brow, “What evidence do you have to back up your allegation and have me convicted?” This was Mendoza's way of escaping tricky situations. Instead of agreeing or disagreeing, she tried to make Sarah seem like a liar in case there was someone or people listening.“I saw you talking to that chef. And even if I get your reason for being hard on Freya, I think you should stop whatever you're planning!” Sarah stood her ground, refusing to take a step backward despite feeling intimidated by Mendoza. “Careful what you say, Sarah, and careful who you tell this to. Remember, it's the word of a beta's daughter against the word of an Alpha's daughter.” Mendoza exhaled in a dismissive tone and took a step backward. “The Alphas won't let you off if they find out what you did to Freya!” Sarah yelled behind Mendoza as the latter walked o
