Mixed feelings

"Valerie, please," Jordan said, his eyes pleading. "I know I hurt you, but I love you. I want another chance to make it right."

I shook my head, feeling a surge of annoyance. "You want another chance? After everything you put me through? You cheated on me, lied to me, and nearly destroyed me. No, Jordan. I'm not interested."

Tristan stepped forward, his eyes flashing with anger. "Jordan, leave her alone. She's made it clear she doesn't want to go back to you."

Jordan turned on Tristan, his face twisted with rage. "Stay out of this, Tristan. This is between me and Valerie."

Tristan stood his ground. "I'm not going anywhere, Jordan. And neither are you, until you leave Valerie alone."

Jordan snarled, but turned back to me, his eyes pleading. "Valerie, please. Just listen to me. I'll do anything to make it right."

I stared at him, dumbfounded, as he continued to beg and plead. How could he possibly think I would take him back after everything he had done?
