Chapter 6

"Nice to meet you, Aunt Lana. Cheers…"

"And this is my cousin, Evelyn."

"Oh, I've heard a lot about you…" James' beady eyes stared openly at the beauty in front of him. His breathing quickened, and his heart skipped a beat. He had long since heard about Evelyn's beauty, and now that he could actually compare, he could not deny that Evelyn was much prettier than his wife.

Elio's expression darkened when he saw the man staring at Evelyn without restraint. He cursed James inwardly, thinking, 'Hey, you have a wife of your own! Why are you drooling over mine?'

Sienna did not look that pleased, either. Even with all her makeup, she could not compare to Evelyn's natural beauty. The guests' gazes were all focused on her cousin. She was the bride, yet no one paid attention to her. Evelyn had completely stolen her limelight.

To make things worse, she could hear the whispers from nearby loud and clear. "So that's Evelyn… As expected of Cloudsea's idol. She's so beautiful that even I'm falling for her, and I'm a woman!"

"She's the prettiest one in the entire extended family, that's for sure…"

"Evelyn, right? We're family now, so here's to you." James was infatuated. He even said her name affectionately.

Evelyn looked annoyed. Her cousin's new husband definitely did not match up to her standards. He may be rich, but he was obviously a frivolous flirt. "I don't drink," she said coldly.

"It's okay. You can just toast with juice or water. It's just my way of making your acquaintance."

Sienna did not like the way her husband kept pestering her cousin. She quickly pulled James' arm and said angrily, "Honey, let me introduce you to Evelyn's husband. You might have heard of him! Everyone in Cloudsea knows he married into the family. Some people call him the good-for-nothing freeloader…"

Her words diverted everyone's attention. They looked at Elio and burst into laughter, with the table to the right being the loudest. They ridiculed Elio to their heart's content. "The bride is right. That guy is an embarrassment to all the men in the world!"

"I don't think any woman can stand a husband like him. He's more useless than a dog!"

Evelyn's eyes filled with fury. Her cousin had gone too far! No matter how pathetic Elio was, he was still her lawfully wedded husband. How could Sienna embarrass her by mocking him in public?

Elio, on the other hand, stood up as if nothing had happened. He held up a glass filled with orange juice and chuckled. "It doesn't matter to me who my cousin-in-law marries. I'm just here for the good food and the fine wine! You can say whatever you want about me. It's water off my back."

How dare he talk back to her? Sienna's face was flushed with anger. "Watch your mouth, you useless dog."

James was even more upset. He was insanely jealous that Elio could have a beauty like Evelyn, while his wife was far inferior. He glared at Elio fiercely. "This is my wedding, you know. Do you really think I wouldn't beat you up for your rudeness?"

"Oh, no…" Elio pretended to tremble in fear. The wine glass in his hand crashed to the ground, and the orange juice spilled onto James' custom-made suit.

Sienna screamed, "You jerk, you dirtied my husband's 18,000-dollar suit!"

"Sorry, sorry." As Elio apologized profusely, he reached out his oil-stained hands. While he seemed to be wiping the juice off James' suit, he was actually wiping his hands on the cloth.

The branded suit was stained with juice and oil. It was beyond salvage now.

At the same time, Elio scoffed to himself. That cloth was less absorbent than a paper towel! How useless.
