A new beginning

Sarah’s smile gradually froze. A fluttering emotion instantly invaded her body. He actually smiled! It was the first time she’d seen his teeth! They were as white as milk and so perfectly aligned. When he smiled, his eyes looked tinier, hiding the steely grey, turning them into a light transparent ones. How gorgeous! She goggled in amazement.

However, a knock at the door unfroze her back to reality. Sarah alarmingly sat upright on the bed while Devlin went to open the door, his face once again rigid and the mask was back.

''Here,” the old woman came forward in the room, holding a tray of plates and cups in one hand and in the other one, there was a pile of clothing. She smiled at Sarah which she shyly returned it.

Devlin grimaced at her expression before he closed the door again. The woman put the trays on the table and came to sit beside Sarah on the bed, her eyes filled with concern.
