MATE

**REBECCA'S POV**

The phone almost fell from my hand but I quickly tightened my grip around it. I couldn't understand how I had switched bodies with someone I had never met before. I could clearly remember my own face, my hairstyle along with it's auburn color, the color of my eyes and what I saw a moment ago wasn't my face. Now I understand why they had addressed me as Rebecca.

“Are you okay?” Alex asked as he noticed the look of worry on my face.

“If I'm here, does that mean she's in my body?” I asked myself and raised the phone up to my face again. I still couldn't believe it but it was actually real.

Alex probably didn't know what was wrong with me or why I was acting weirdly and I could tell he didn't have time to ask. His expression told me he needed to get back to wherever he had come from for some urgent matter. I suddenly got another memory from the accident.

I remembered seeing Alex after I came out of the crashed vehicle. He watched me while I got out of the vehicle, covered in blood and I'm sure he thought i would die on the spot after I collapsed but for the fact that I'm still here and breathing, means I didn't die and he must have brought me to the hospital after observing me for a while.

“Rebecca, I would be needing my phone now, please.” He forced his voice to sound polite. Yes, I can tell when someone is faking an act. I was one to assume the worst out of people back then without getting to know them and it seems I was doing the same with Alex.

He might have brought me to the hospital after hitting my car with his but something felt fishy, like he was holding back.

I smiled slightly and handed him back his phone. It's not like staring at the screen would change the situation anyway so i had to let it go. It will neither return me to my body nor will it explain why this had happened and so I had to first get better and then figure out a way to fix this.

“Drive safely.” I said to Alex with a smile and he bounced his head before leaving the room.

I glanced at my body and that's when I noticed the scratches on my hand. I could also feel a bandage around my rib area. If it were before when I was still trying to keep my reputation, I would have thrown a tantrum over a broken nail but here I am all bruised up and helpless.

“How am I even alive?” I asked myself and tried to recall what exactly happened but I couldn't remember anything other than trying to escape the burning building and staring at my reflection on the car window before passing out.

I decided to rest a bit and figure all these out later since I couldn't do anything now in my weakened state. I wasn't one to believe in things like this and so a part of me hoped it was a dream and I would wake up the moment I go to sleep.

I gently closed my eyes and just as expected, I fell asleep. I began to have flashes again but this time around, I didn't have any headache to stop it. It was flashes of my old life as Ginger.

I could see myself on stage, singing my heart out. I remembered when I had my first live performance. My mum was seated at the front roll, cheering for me. It was the most beautiful and happiest day of my life. I could feel my lips spread to form a smile as I relived my childhood days but all that ended with the sudden bang of the door.

I furrowed my brows in confusion as I opened my eyes, staring at the man infront of me. A frown settled on my face as I wasn't ready to leave my peaceful dream but it had ended now and I was back to reality.

His scent filled up my nostrils, the smell of earth and wet sand which i found pleasing but as he got closer, my frown became more intense and soon turned into a glare.

I finally recognized him and I could feel my blood boil and my heartbeat skyrocketed but not out of fear or excitement but out of anger. The amount of rage i was feeling made me perplexed since I only knew him as my boss. What could he have possibly done to me or Rebecca to make her hate him so much?

Tyler on the other hand, had on a confused expression. It felt like he was battling with himself about some facts which I couldn't understand. I've worked for him for six months and I know what kind of aura he emanated, but why was something about him off today? He seemed... different in a way I can't fathom

His gaze held a sad expression as he looked at the bed but then it turned into an angry one when he scrutinized my body, seeing the bruises on my face.

Of course being the man he is, he had no feelings for a weakling like me, at least none that i knew of. He began taking closer steps towards me until he was right Infront of me.

I couldn't help but glare at him and I could tell it made his heart ache by his expression which was another confusing matter for me and him as well.

“Are you okay?” He asked and his eyes widened immediately, probably asking himself why he would care if i was hurt or not?

“Since when do you care about my wellbeing?” I asked still glaring at him.

“It seems your accident gave you balls. Now you talk to me in that manner? You're even glaring at me, how brave.” Tyler said with a smirk but my gaze did not falter.

Tyler must have found it amusing that i could still challenge him, knowing he was very much stronger then me and could end my life right here, right now if he wanted to. He slowly raised his hand to my face and made to touch me but i swiftly grabbed his wrist, pushing it away.

The moment my skin made contact with his, I noticed a glint flash before his eyes and it felt like something had awakened in him. Tyler had a deadpan expression as he tried to contemplate what was going on in his mind.

He looked at me, shock evident in his features and I arched my brows because I couldn't understand what he was so shocked to see.

He took a step back and clenched his fist then mouthed something that was barely audible. but my ears picked it up immediately.
