What's The Score?

As we settled back after our little outing, from the office to lunch, we found ourselves in front of the television. An itch to reach for the remote and switch to my favorite show nagged at me, yet I couldn't summon the courage. Something felt off, and I couldn't shake the feeling. How had our relationship shifted so drastically? There was a time when I'd fiercely battle for the remote, insisting on my preferred program over his boring football matches. But now, I sat frozen, silently wishing he would go and work on his laptop.

“Bee, what's the score?” he suddenly asked, looking at me with questioning eyes. I put on a face and tried to tell him what the score was, but I didn't understand the cryptic symbols on the screen. Even when he shouted at the screen, presumably because his team was winning, I wasn't paying attention.

"I think your team is clearly winning," I said with uncertainty but confidently nevertheless.
