Chapter 4: Not what I expected
Rowan
“I want you to investigate the recent campus deaths.” Tristan, the head of the Halo, mutters as he takes down his drink.
Leaning back on my seat, I quirk a brow. “What campus deaths? The only thing I heard was that some kids were missing..”
Tristan sifts his fingers through his pale golden hair and shakes his head with a sigh. “That’s what the news has been reporting, but it’s not quite accurate. Over the past six months, we’ve found bodies of students who have been decapitated.”
“And you think vampires did it?”

Juliet This is the most fun I’ve had in a long time. I don’t know why I didn’t do this before. As soon as we got to the sorority house, my friend India and I began to party. Her sorority sisters were kind and welcoming─not the bitchy sorority girls I expected them to be. The DJ is up on a large platform nodding her head up and down, her headphones wrapped around her ear as the roaring bass of the music echoes through the room. Sweat slithers down my back, and my hair sticks to my neck like tentacles. We’re all in the middle of the dance-floor, happily dancing and twirling with the rest of the crowd when I see him. Rowan is here, and flirting with him is none other than the two hottest Kappas─ Becky and Mercedes. My nostrils flare, and my stomach tightens when they wrap their arms around him
Rowan It has been two days since I kissed Jules. Even though I’ve been drinking large quantities of blood bags, I have little control over my eyes and fangs. I’ve had to step out of class several times to get them under control. It’s almost as if I can still taste her lips and the feel of her soft skin beneath my fingers. It’s arousing. Soon after she stepped out of my car, a tidal wave of hunger burst through me, and my vampire powers came to the fore. I wanted to drain her life’s blood from her body until there was nothing left. That night wasn’t a total bust, though. I did find something&nb
Juliet I gaze around the sterile room as I swing my legs back and forth on the examination table. Over the last four hours, I’ve been prodded, poked, and questioned about everything. At this point, I just want to go home, but my dad’s people won't let me. I freaking hate this place so much. “Your father says that you’re not getting much sleep and that you’re taking up wandering around the house at night. Why do you think that is, Juliet?” Dr. Harold Parker asks as he runs a wand across my chest. All I can think, though, is that I’m fucked. Obviously, my dad has been keeping a closer eye on me than I assumed. The fact that he knows I’ve been up to is alarming.
Rowan “We found another one,” Tristan says as he steps into my apartment. Frowning with disbelief, I finish slipping on the t-shirt that I was going to wear before I heard the knock on the door. “Was it killed with the same ammo?” Tristan hands me a file with pictures and takes a seat on one of the kitchen stools. “Yeah, but this one has been dead a little longer than the one you found. Some guy was hunting deer or some shit and discovered it deep in the woods. Thankfully, the official that responded to his report was a supernatural being, so it was run through the Council instead of the human police. The pathologis
Jules “Who was that boy?” My father asks as he strides purposely behind me. I shake my head, confused by his behavior. “I already told you. His name is Rowan─.” “I know his name!” He hisses angrily. “What I’m asking you is if you’re screwing him?” I’m taken aback. My father may have been a cold man, but I’ve never heard him be so cruel. “Are you serious right now?”
Rowan Something is wrong with Jules, and if it’s what I suspect, I’m going to kill my brother and his mate. It’s no coincidence that Jules is getting headaches after Amara and Kell agreed to the mind wipe. Something went wrong, and Jules is now suffering because of it. I wanted to tell her the truth so badly, but I couldn’t find the words. It doesn’t help that she admitted to getting headaches. Fuck! My swollen lips tingle as I gaze up into the ceiling. God, that kiss was amazing, and touching her was beyond anything I imagined it would be. She was so responsive and sweet that stopping was almost impossible. To be honest, the only reason I stopped was that I could feel myself turning. My fangs descended, and my eyes were glowing.&nbs
Chapter 11: TellJules Morning arrives quickly, with me feeling the effects of my late night. I couldn’t stop thinking about the kiss. It felt so good to be in his arms. A knock on the door startles me from my sleep, almost making me fall out of Rowan’s bed. I glare at the door as I rub my tired eyes and push my hair back. I look at the couch, but Rowan’s not there. Yet, I can hear the sound of running water. He must be taking a shower. Not knowing what else to do, I open the door. To my horror, there’s a gorgeous woman standing on the other side of the door. She’s wearing a tight crop top and very short cuto
Chapter 12: DiscoveriesRowan “This better be good, Tristan. I have something important to do.” Tristan crooks a brow at my irritated tone. “I’m sorry for interrupting you, your highness, but I thought you might be interested in what we discovered.” Rubbing my bare neck, I take a deep breath and face my brother. Is it weird that it’s natural to consider him my brother now? “Okay, fine. Tell me what you found.” Tristan gestures for me to follow him through the Halo’s basement. “Okay, so two things.” He says as soon as we step into a sterilized medical examination lab. The cr
