Chapter 2

“Alaska,” Her beautiful chimes rang out after the fluff that took off. She just smirked as she slowly rose from where she was enjoying the afternoon sun. She had found a clearing where they decided to take rest. The trees surrounded the area, giving her protection from the wind. The brush hiding the paths out as animals secretly watched her. They where intrigued a human with as much Grace and beauty would be in there forest. They did not feel threatened by her nor did they feel she would ruin there peaceful home.

She gently stepped away from the clearing following the path her puppy had run down. It waited for her to follow before leaving a short distance. She just giggled as she ran after it. The forest giving her peace knowing nothing was here to harm her. She could open herself freely and be who she felt most a peace with. The gentle breeze blew the feeling of water causing excitement to bubble in her. She loved water, weather from the tub or the small happy moments she had with her husband at the Creek.

Her smile and giggling stopped as her feet stopped moving. The pain of her divorce creeping in once more as she pulled her fingers close to her chest. The tears starting to fall once more as all those happy memories where ruined by that wooden hammer. He would share all those memories with someone else. With a women that would bare his child.

Alaska barked at her mommy trying to show she wanted to be picked up. She knew what happened and every time it did she wanted to be in her mommy’s arms. For her mommy to fell comfort from her. She never liked seeing her mommy crying. She barked once more hopping her mommy would hear her. When she didn’t Alaska dropped down to her paws and whined.

The forest heard her and helped in it’s own way. A large buck stepped out of the bush and walked up to the women’s back. He knew her pain, he could feel it emitting from her. He also knew what the young pup was trying to do. Lowering his antlers Alaska jumped into it and carefully wagged her tail excitedly as she was lifted up. The buck stopped when the pup was face to face with her mom.

The young women opened her eyes to see her puppy licking her hands. She reached her fingers out to her gently and wrapped he in her arms. Her hand even reached out to the buck who allowed her fingers to graze his fur before he continued on to his doe whom was waiting. She smiled knowing this was her home. This was where she belonged. The forest and the creatures understood her here. She allowed her knees to buckle as she collapsed to the forest floor. Alaska barked worried as other animals came out to her. The rabbits and squirrels all coming close to comfort her. To give her hope that all would be okay. Alaska curled up around her face and snuggled her head into her mommy's neck as her mom cried. Her tears filling the ground.

The bugs of the earth quickly moving the rocks, the squirrels and birds removing the dead branches from under her so she had a soft ground to lay on. The deer gathering her things as the rabbits hopped the blanket over to her. The trees gently tucking her in as they slowly moved to protect her as she slept. Something she needed, something she had deprived herself for so long. Her puppy snuggling close for comfort.

As the sun began to set she opened here eyes with a smile. She felt well rested as her arms went above her head and stretched. Her puppy barked happily before dropping her head on the young women’s chest. She giggled as she watched Alaska’s tail wage. She just smiled as she gently lifted the puppy off her and sat up. She smiled seeing her stuff stored close to her and the blanket she brought wrapped comfortable around her.

“Thank you.” She gently spoke to the forest. She knew it had to be them that tucked her in. At least that’s what she was hopping. Slowly rising she folded the blanket and placed it in the wagon. She wanted to go to the source of water that was pulling her. It was like a need to get there more then a want. After everything that happened she was ready to listen to what her body was telling her. It told her to run from her ex, it told her to be careful and she didn’t listen. Now she was going to listen.

Alaska barked happily as the ball of fluff gently trotted a head of her. She giggled once more as a beautiful Robin flew to her shoulder. She smiled happily before it bounced away, opening its grey wings to lift it up and into a tree. To be free like them, she thought as she kept walking along the path. She spotted a buck and doe sharing a moment snuggled together. To have love unconditionally, she frowned as she knew that wasn’t her anymore. A squirrel ran across her path, his grey cheeks full of something. To have a purpose, she thought as a smile crossed her pink lips once more.

The water was smooth flowing as it gently went on its merry way. The Rapids a bit further down sending sounds of splashes both up and down stream. Her eyes smiled as she looked at the waves moving this way and that. Her life felt like those waves, crashing against the rocks. But she also knew that it will smooth out eventually. She placed her hand on a close tree for support as she removed her shoes and socks. Rolling up her blue Jean’s she stepped out onto the clear dirt down to a rock path. This soon led to the murky water, the run offs still high due to it being spring.

The rocks where smooth and gentle as she carefully stepped across them. Her shoes and socks in her hands to help balance her. Alaska barked happily as she came running out of another chunk of forest to her. She made it look so easy as she ran over. The women stopped and placed her shoes down, reaching out her arms, Alaska picked up speed and jumped into her moms arms. This sent them backwards into the river. She giggled loudly as she dropped her hands back to try and cushion her fall, to her amazement the spot had no rocks that would harm her. Her butt however was submerged in freezing cold water causing a shiver to run up her spine. Alaska happily wagged her tail as she licked her moms face. She was dry, only because her mom blocked the water. From hitting her.

“So much for just submerging my feet.” She giggled happily as she kissed the top of Alaska's head. She slowly rose and placed the puppy on dry land before she turned and put her feet in. It felt so pleasant and almost refreshing. Almost like it had been to long and she was a dryer. Like a grape turning into a raisin, but now with being in the water turning back to a grape. She needed this, it was like her body was all wound up and cracking. The water was smoothing out those worries and repairing the cracks. She felt like a new women all over again. She missed this, she missed this feeling of being relaxed and free. Being in this place she felt like a whole different person, almost like it was who she was before she lost her memory. She wouldn’t know until she could remember them.

Alaska spotted a body and barked at her mom. She looked over at her puppy before she followed her pups eyes to a body. Her heart pounded hard, like this thing was reaching for it and it was trying to pound out of its box to be in its grasp. She didn’t know what to do but had to try something. She tried calling to him but he didn’t move. She had to get him to shore before he hit the Rapids. Diving in she began to swim to him as strong as she could.

The voice he hear caused him to shuffle slightly. Nothing that would alert the women he was alive not that he cared. He wanted to die. The cold river making him cold to the bone, there wasn’t anything warm about him. His wounds where frozen so he felt no pain from them anymore. Wouldn’t matter anyways, he was ready to die, though he still felt he needed to suffer more.

The pounding of waters told him rapids where coming, he knew that would kill him or break him. Either way the pain would be welcoming. He would take it as he waited for death. What he didn’t expect was to feel warmth on his frozen skin. He wanted to look, to open his eyes but none he could do. He then decided it must be his love taking him to heaven, taking him to be with her forever. He welcomed it as he slowly let himself drift to the quiet of darkness.

Her heart began to brake as she saw his condition as she swam to him. He was in no condition to even move never mind call for help. Her warm fingers touch his skin and she internally shrieked. His skin was way colder then even the water around her. She had to get him into shore and to some heart. She quickly pulled him close and with one hand began to swim as quick and strong as she could to shore. It wasn’t helping as she began to struggle. A brown furry beaver came running to the rescue, another smaller one following close. The dove into the freezing water and quickly swam over grabbing her clothing they began to help her swim to shore.

Once safely on shore she leaned over and gave each of them a kiss on the head. They looked up at her with the cutest of smiles before they left on there way. She quickly turned her attention to the man that lay nearly lifeless beside her. She quickly dropped her head to his chest and let a sigh out as she heart his heart beat. It was faint but at least it was there. She quickly checked to see if her was breathing staggered. She sighed once again when she heard it come out shallow but clear. She shivered as she gently laid beside him. Grabbing his arm she pulled him so he was lay on her back before she rose. He was heavy, something she didn’t think though very well as she staggered forward.

The rock now poking her feet harshly as she tried to step carefully over them. There wet bodies not making it easy as it dripped onto them. A few she slipped on crashing down hard. She screamed each time causing poor Alaska to whine unhappy. There was nothing she could do for her mommy. She would lick her face every time she fell however. She would giggle happily and rise. She was determined to be strong and help this man. Something was telling her she should, so she would.

The trees reach out there branches as she reached them and took his weight on them selves. She smiled as she would Grace each of them with a gentle touch as they took him to the clearing she was before. The animal had found her wagon and carefully brought it back, each being adorn with a kiss.

“I’m in need of fire wood. I need to light a fire.” She gently spoke as they scattered to gather what she asked for. She smiled happily , her heart fully with there love as they brought sticks and large pieces of wood. She heart fluttered as she quickly moved to his side. Her fingers gently moving over his body as she looked at all the wounds he has gathered. Her heart broke knowing there was nothing she could do but try. She had to try. He didn’t desire this. She quickly and carefully removed the hospital like gown and squealed. She forgot he would probably be backed under it. Closing her eyes she quickly laid the outfit over his jewels. Her face was so hot from embarrassment she had to lift her shirt to cool it.

Her heart hammered at the thought of him. He was so fit and beautiful despite all the scars and opened wounds. Any women would be so luck to be in his arms. Even she slightly thought of it but was torn as she remembered the hammer. She couldn’t let herself love like that again. It only would end in heart ache. Plus she didn’t know where he had come from, he may already have someone in his life. She smiled. If she was able to pull this off she would be happy to know that women wouldn’t be alone.

He felt her warm hands all over him. Cleaning his wounds, stitching some shut, others she smeared cream or something in. He was to cold to tell what. Her own body heat however was welcoming as the beautiful scent of pine and earth filled his nostrils. The ground he lay upon was soft, nothing pocked him as he relaxed into it. The warmth soothing his cold back. Something fuzzy soon coved his front as warmth seeped in. He wished to open his eyes, to see who had saved him from his death. Separating him from his love once more.

Once his wounds were looked after she quickly placed her blanket over him and all the clothing she had in the wagon. She had to get him warm once more. Removing a few books, pictures and Alaskas food and toys she raced the empty wagon down to the river where she began to collect the rocks that would make a barrier for her fire. The forest was helping her, she had to do all she could to protect it.

Her fingers slid over the smooth and rough edges of many rocks. Each of them taking up space in the wagon until it was full. She struggled to pull it but once it got moving things became easier. Each rock was played with such precision in a circle close to the man. The animals watching her with such love she didn’t understand. She didn’t have time to dwell on that now, she had to get the fire going as she felt her own self begin to shiver. The sun had already set.

The animals saw her panic as they began to race away. There minds set on finding them some food as she struggled with the fire. She had to get it going or they would die of cold. When the fire didn’t start she carefully put the sticks down and took a few deep breaths. She had to calm her racing nerves as her anxiety spikes. She didn’t need that right now. She had to stay focused. Getting up she walked over to the pile of clothing and found a dry pair to which she would change into. Placing them down she slowly peeled the wet ones off her. First her purple sweater, then her black leggings that where actually wrecked. A few places she had fallen cut into the Jean’s but in return saved her skin. She could see the bruises forming as the slight yellow spots around her knees and shins.

A shiver caused her attention to fall back on her changing. She removed her undergarments before pulling new ones one. She then pulled on a pair of black sweats and grey sweater. The sweater brought in some warmth for her causing her to purr happily as she snuggled it closer. Alaska barked happily seeing her mommy happy. She giggled happily as she went back to her fire. That giggle is what warmed his heart slightly. It reminded him of his loves giggle, causing him to struggle against the darkness so his eyes could fall on her. He had to see it wasn’t her, he couldn’t die till he knew.

The small sticks finally sparked causing her to squeal happily before she began to encourage it to grow. Gently blowing on the small flame she added more leaves and kindling slowly. Soon the fire was going strong causing a smile to glow upon her face. She had done it, she had made a fire for the first time. She quickly rose and pulled off the clothing that was on the man and pulled him closer to the fire. She knew this wasn’t the answer but it will help.

The animals soon emerged with berries and nuts that they could gather. The deer carrying the baskets they had woven. She smiled happily as she grabbed them and happily smiled. This was going to be there supper tonight and she was happy it was. She carefully pulled the fruit out and gently mashing it she would drop it into his mouth. It wasn’t much but it would be something to help him fight. A bit of sugar to fuel him. She didn’t know what else to do but she was trying.

He swallowed everything she gave him, urging himself to live. He had to see this beauty he had to. There was something telling him to fight and for once he didn’t want to die. He didn’t want to leave this world if his love was alive. Her laugh, her presence and her touch was all his loves. It was only hers. She was the only one that could do those things. Maybe the nurse was wrong, maybe she did survive, or maybe they where talking about the wrong person. It was something because she couldn’t be. It felt like she was here. You cant be here if your dead or maybe he was. He didn’t care he had to live, he had to open his eyes to see her. To know for sure. He could always throw himself off a cliff if it wasn’t but he has to know.

She smiled as she gave him the last of the berries. She licked the juice off her fingers before she grabbed and placed a nut in her mouth. She was happy they had cracked them out of there shell. She didn’t know what she would have done if they hadnt. Alaska patiently waiting for her own food to which she carefully filled her bowl and placed it in front of her. Stroking the fire she placed a long on before sitting by it to warm herself up. So much had happened today, and tomorrow is yet but another day. One she knows will be filled with much adventure now with this man.

Her eyes fell on him with a sigh. The fire casting a handsome glow off him. Something she wish she could take a picture off but cameras where expensive. Plus if he had a girlfriend, fiancé, or wife she knew it would cause an argument so she did what that. She didn’t want to be the cause of another divorce or break up. This heart ache she never wished on anyone.

“I promise to try and get you back to the one you love.” She gently spoke as she pulled her legs up to her chest and rested her chin on her knees. “I am not a doctor but I will do what I can to help you
