55. Christmas Special

“That’s a great news sis!”

Keira hugged Frida, who was surprised with her gesture; however, it was a delightful change for Keira. Frida just thought that Keira’s hormonal changes are preparing her to be a great momma.

“Yeah, by the way, where are you guys spending your Christmas eve?”

Keira asked Frida. The question stunned her, and she glanced at Clarke’s direction. It might be uncomfortable for him to talk about her mom. Clarke understood Frida’s hesitation.

“It’s fine, I want to invite you and your mom to spend the Christmas with us. We are so done with being lonely for such a festive season.”

Clarke gave Frida a broad and bright smile. Frida felt welcomed. She almost shed a tear. It moved Clarke seeing how Frida accepted his gesture. She can’t imagine a tough woman like Frida to be touched by his simple invitation.

The next day, the Greene Family Estate is in a festive mood. Clarke and Keira are preparing the gifts they prepared for everyone. Since her parents’ demise, this is the first time that she and her Nana are celebrating Christmas.

Clarke looked perfect with his brown pants and red button-up shirt. He furrowed his thick eyebrows when he noticed his wife looking at her like she wants to eat her.

“You look way too perfect, hubby.”

She stood up and handed him a paper bag. He opened it and found two sweaters.

“We will wear these matching ugly Christmas Sweaters.”

Clarke laughed at her wife’s idea. He loved this funny side of her. They walked towards their Nana’s villa. Clarke’s mouth watered when they smelled the scent of roasted pork belly from a distance.

“I love Christmas.”

Clarke exclaimed while holding his growling tummy.

“I love Christmas too.”

Keira answered as she held her tummy, not because she’s hungry but she wanted to feel her growing baby.

When they entered their Nana’s villa, they were taken aback that she and her staff could prepare in such a short period of time.

The tall Christmas tree in the living room had very colorful ornaments, and the lights gave it more life. There were also garlands all over the house.

Clarke walked towards the Christmas tree and placed their gifts under the tree. It surprised him to see a box with his name on it. He did not expect Keira to come up with a gift for him; he smiled thinking how lucky he is to have Keira.

He stared at Keira, who was busy helping their staff in setting up the table. Nana approached Clarke and handed him the top star for the Christmas tree.

“When Keira was still young, her father would carry her on his shoulders to put that star at the top of our tree.”

Clarke chuckled as he run towards Keira. He handed her the star. Clarke dragged Keira towards the Christmas tree.

“Babe, I am too old for this stuff.”

Clarke pouted his lips and cheekily answered her.

“But you are my baby.”

He kneeled down and carried Keira on his shoulders. The people surrounding them were all happy seeing a renewed life in the Green Family Estate.

They also invited all the staff and their families for dinner. Mr. Watson arrived alone, bringing presents for everyone.

And then a few minutes later, Frida and her mom arrived, it stunned Mr. Watson. But he stood up to welcome Frida and her mom and greeted them.

“Seems like we are all complete, let us eat!”

Nana said as she invited everyone to gather around the table. This is the most colorful feast Clarke has ever seen. Nana had really planned the meals tonight.

They were all full after that heavy meal; people were busy chatting with each other. There were staffs who roam around bringing cups of hot chocolate for everyone.

“How have you been?”

Mr. Watson tried a casual chat with his ex wife. She smiled at him like they were just old friends who lost contact with each other.

“Great, how about you?”

Frida heard her parents talk like teenagers having awkward conversations. She walked towards Keira; she whispered to her.

“Is everything set?”

Keira nodded at her and pointed at the box under the tree. Clarke came over and gave the two women cups of hot chocolate.

“Gather around everyone; let’s start the giving of gifts.”

Nana being the eldest in the estate acted like the Santa Claus as she was the one announcing the names and distributing the gifts. The last gift to be given was Keira’s gift for Clarke.

It was a small rectangular box that could fit a smart phone. Clarke unwrapped the present, and it was indeed a cell phone box.

“Thanks babe, this is nice.”

Clarke kissed Keira as he thanked her for the new phone.

“Babe, you need to open it.”

Clarke did as Keira wished. What’s inside the box was not a phone but a small sweater.

“Oh, babe, this is a matching ugly Christmas sweater too?”

Keira nodded with her broad smile. Clarke was too slow to figure it out, when he lifted the small sweater out of the box. The pregnancy test kit was there, clearly with two bright lines.

“Oh, God! I’m going to be a father?”

Clarke was too overwhelmed that he was jumping for joy. They hugged each other so tightly, and their family around them also felt their bliss.

Their Nana was tearing up in bliss as she never felt she could be any happier. Finally, her dream to have her great-grandchildren is just a few months away from coming true.

“I love you my wife, thank you, this is the best gift I have ever received.”

Frida, her parents, and all the others joined their hug. They ended up forming an enormous circle. This is indeed the best Christmas yet!
