Chapter Twenty-One
Deagan stared at his reflection in the small mirror above the sink, his uncle’s guest bathroom was rather cramped in comparison to the one he was accustomed to moving around in, in his apartment. He wasn’t sure if his mind was playing tricks on him or his eyes really did look wide in panic and his lips parted more than usual because he was having a hard time breathing. He drew in a deep breath and exhaled slowly the way his therapist showed him to do if he felt overwhelmed which is exactly what he felt at that moment. “Deagan, are you okay? You’ve been in there for a while.” Amaya’s voice travelled through the crack of the door, stunning him a little. Clenching his teeth together, he decided to bite the bullet a

Chapter Twenty-Two
Deagan marched into Andrew’s office without knocking, ignoring the horrified look he got from his best friend, he picked up the office phone and placed a call to the company’s PR officer.  “Mr King?” Sandra answered in her “I’m-busy, what-do-you-want” tone.  “Sandra set up a press conference for tomorrow afternoon.” Sandra was quiet for a moment, he half expected her to give him a sarcastic answer, but it must have been something in his tone that stopped him from questioning him.  “Okay, what should I tell them is the reason for this conference?” He could hear her typing away at her laptop. “Just tell them that Ivan D’Heart

Chapter Twenty-Four
Weeks passed with Deagan in and out of interviews, having given the first interview to Olivia, her channel was being noticed and she was gaining followers.  His family also came forward and apologised for not trusting him which pleased Aria greatly, because it was the start of a new relationship for them.  She was currently setting up Christmas decorations in her living room, it wasn’t her favourite time of year like it was for others, but she enjoyed exchanging gifts and spending time with loved ones. She spent Thanksgiving with Deagan’s family as her own parents were out of the country at the time, but they had an enjoyable time and spent the afternoon playing board games since it was too cold to step outside.

Aria sighed heavily after getting off the phone with Deagan, his flight was delayed after postponing his trip for another two days, she was at her wit’s end.  The surprise birthday party she planned with the help of his family and Drew was on the rocks and she had no idea what to do, the food was being prepared and decor was done, waiting on his arrival and given his recent call, she wasn’t sure he’d make it back in time for his birthday at all.  Aria picked up the phone and dialed Andrew’s number, blinking away the dizzy spell caused by the migraine she couldn’t seem to shake.  “Aria, I’m just finishing up my meeting, I’ll leave straight from here to pick him up,” Andrew spoke quickly.

Chapter Twenty-Six
Deagan looked down at the object in his hand, Aria had gotten him a personalised diary with the name “Deagan Lockheart” and signed off in the name “Ivan D’Heart” below, engraved on the leather cover. The diary was exactly the same as the one his father kept and filled with various notes on markets and business tactics. He had a feeling one of his siblings or Andrew had something to do with it, but it didn’t bother him, because he loved the gift and the limited edition Mont Blanc Fountain Pen that matched the diary perfectly.  “Sweetheart, I love it so much.” He smiled widely at her which made her heart swell with joy. “I’m glad you do, Drew helped me pick it out.” Deagan put the box down and pulled her cl

Chapter Twenty-Seven
Aria massaged her temples as she stepped out of the courthouse, she spent the better part of the day in the courtroom and while she felt like death, she was ecstatic that the jury finally ruled in favour of her client who was a young man fighting for custody of his daughter after his ex-girlfriend ran away with her new boyfriend and took their child with.  She squinted when the blinding afternoon sun attacked her and stopped for a moment to recollect herself, feeling a dizzy spell come on.  Amidst her confusion, her eyes landed on a bright red Ford Granda parked haphazardly at the bottom of the steps with a handsome man leaning against the bonnet of the car.  His white dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up and the top two buttons left undone moulded perfectly

Chapter Twenty-Eight
Aria stepped into the doctor’s room, feeling as miserable as ever, hoping that seeing Dr Greene would shed some light on the constant headaches she got and nausea she couldn’t seem to shake since she got up in the morning. “Aria Gray, here for my appointment with Dr Greene?” The receptionist looked through the files on the counter and set hers aside.  “You can have a seat, I’ll call you when he's ready.” Aria took a seat on one of the waiting room chairs, pulling out her phone to pass time just as it rang.  “Hello?” Aria answered, seeing Aycin’s name on the caller ID.  “Aria.” Aria chuckled at his stern tone, it wasn’t one s

Aria left her meeting with the District Attorney and headed straight for the airport with the various case files she retrieved already on their way to her office in Seattle. The documents were too important to carry on so instead she had them couriered home.  Aycin would be touching down in a few minutes and looking at the dreadful Big Apple traffic before her, she resolved that he would have to wait on her. His interview was at 8 am on Friday morning at the hospital which was only a few minutes walk from the hotel she booked them into.           At first, they meant to fly back on Friday after his interview, but Aycin’s mood hadn’t improved much since the previous week, so after contemplation with Deagan, they figured a few days away might help him get over his funk.

“How did it go?” Aria asked when Aycin stepped through the door, but the look on his face made her cringe. “That bad?”  Aycin shrugged off his jacket and collapsed on a nearby chair with a heavy sigh.  “They waitlisted me for a future position.” Aria’s jaw dropped.  “Why call you for an interview if they know the position is already filled?” Aycin shrugged. “Formality?” Aria was annoyed, placing her laptop down on the bed beside her, she approached him and kneeled before him.  “Aycin…” Aria called softly, prying his hands from his face. “Think abou
