Chapter 11- The tournament 1
The execution ground was where notorious criminals caught in the city were usually executed at the end of every month. It was very wide, about the size of three football fields and was located outside the city, just before the forest. Even though it was used basically for killing others, it was also used for large-scale competitions, like the wrestling tournament.Maxi arrived there as soon as the tournament officially began. There were lots of people both in the arena and outside. Maxi had to push his way through to the front of the crowd to check for Wilson. It took him several minutes to get to his destination and he was covered in sweat and food and wine. “This place is tight! And there are so many contestants this year.” Maxi muttered to himself after squeezing his way to the front. He looked around and could barely see any of the contestants’ faces. The match had already gotten intense. Bodies were flying everywhere, skills upon skills w

Chapter 12- The tournament 2
Wilson struck at her face again and again and again. He punched so much she began to wonder if he had a problem with her face. All she could do was block. Dodging his fists as she realized was near impossible. There was no room for a counter-attack. It was either she continued blocking or she traded a blow for a blow. She was not sure how much of it she could handle. He definitely knew how to pack a punch. A successful strike to her face was sure to disfigure her beautiful facial features. She became even more hesitant about it.Wilson noticed her hesitation. He knew a simple slash from her would mean the end for him. But he also knew that females in general, especially beautiful ones always paid attention to their looks. It was kinda an instinct. So he focused most of his attacks to her face, giving her no choice but to block and continuously retreat. He remembered what his boxing teacher told him back at the village, about swordsmen requiring some space to brandish their swords

Chapter 13- Comatose
Chapter 13- ComatoseWilson was carried into the inn by the mercenaries Maxi hired. The room was arranged and the bed was tidied up faster than expected. The healer friend of Maxi took out his toolkit from under his large sleeves of his robe. He quickly chanted a spell to cleanse the blood off Wilson’s body. He put another low grade pill into his mouth to further reduce his pain. He then inserted his nine needles into specific points on different parts of his body. He chanted some words for a long period of time and placed his palms on Wilson’s forehead. A white blinding light glowed from the point of contact, enveloping Wilson in its entirety and temporarily blinding the mercenaries. Maxi had long closed his eyes. He knew what was going to happen when the chant was finished. He had experienced it a lot. The healer sat on a chair with a pained and exhausted look on his face. He panted as Maxi went to join him after paying the mercenaries for their labor.

Chapter 14- Welcome to the Abyss 1
Chapter 14- Welcome to the abyss!Wilson ran and ran, closely followed by the policemen led by the swordsman. He passed through the same alleys and corners the thief that killed his uncle had passed. His body soon grew numb and he could feel the effects of sleeping for a month. He was getting tired but persevered, running around the city. Just when he thought that he could as well give up, he noticed that the swordsman was no more behind him. He quickly snuck into a pile of rubbish stacked at a corner. He dug into it and noticed a roughly made tunnel that went as far as the eyes could see. Out of curiosity and fear of his pursuers, he crawled through the tunnel. He crawled for what seemed like hours. The farther he went, the longer the tunnel seemed to stretch. Just when he saw the tunnel coming to an end, he saw that the tunnel split to his right and to his left. He stopped to think. Which one should he take? It might be a diversion. Who dug this tunnels anyway and why is

Chapter 15- Welcome to the Abyss 2
Wilson looked around, confused. What was the abyss? As if his question was heard, the commentator spoke again, explaining everything to be known about the abyss. “Ladies and gentlemen, as tradition requires, every year, a hundred of this city’s most notorious criminals; murderers, robbers, hard-core gamblers, rapists and the likes will battle at the execution ground. The last man standing is proclaimed the winner and gets his freedom and a chance to be hired by a noble family. The rest of the fighters are returned to prison to fight another year……….if fate permits!” “If fate permits? What does that mean?” Wilson muttered to himself. “It means, if you are lucky to survive!” An old woman who looked very energetic answered him. She had suddenly appeared behind him. When? Wilson had no idea! “I don’t understand!” Wilson said, facing the old woman. She was taken ab

Chapter 16- Welcome to the Abyss 3
Wilson’s bright smile was very obvious and the commentator did not delay before giving his cooked up meaning for the viewers to gobble up. “It seems like the young rapist has finally gotten his bearings. Just look at that happy smile! It is obvious he delights in killing other people. He might be young but he is both skilled and experienced. You can easily deduce that from how he snapped that guy’s neck with a single punch. He truly deserves to be here alongside the worst criminals in the city…….. oh look, he has just sliced that one in half……OH MY GOD! ICAN”T BELIEVE WHAT IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW!!! WILSON IS KILLING THEM OFF LIKE FLIES……AND THE DEMONIC SMILE HAS NOT LEFT HIS FACE!!!”The commentator’s voice kept increasing in pitch as he excitedly commented on the gruesome scene ensuing.***********Slash* *Slash* *Slash* *Slash* *Slash* *Slash* *Slash*Wilson slashed on and

Chapter 17-Welcome to the Abyss 4
Wilson ran towards the group of seven and noticed that the old woman stopped after taking seven steps. Then another stopped two steps in front of her, then the next, then the next until it was only a young , ugly lady that was still moving. She leaped at him raising a small dagger above her head. Wilson raised his hands in a bid to hold hers but all he got was a kick to his face. He staggered backwards and the lady rushed at him swinging the dagger at his neck. Wilson barely dodged by roling backwards. She quickly swung the dagger at his neck again as he stood up but the hand holding the dagger was held by Wilson. Before she could do anything, Wilson squeezed her hand tightly making her drop the dagger as she winced in pain. Before she could think, Wilson had hit seven times with his fist, further disfiguring her hideous face. She cried out in pain as she staggered and fell. The noise sounded so painful, the spectators winced in pity. Before she could hit the floor, her head was rem

Chapter 18- A Machine
Wilson woke up in a very dark place. Very, very dark. He could not see a thing. He couldn’t even make out his own body even though he knew he was looking at it. He tried to shout but he could not make a single sound. He tried to listen but there was simply nothing to listen to. Absolutely soundless. He could not move his limbs even though he could feel them. The only thing he appeared to be able to move was his head but it made no difference. He began to wonder where he was. ‘Is this supposed to be some pathway to hell? I AM dead, right?’ He was questioning himself. He had no evidence that he was on his way to the land of condemned souls or that he was moving except that he had the feeling that he was. Just a feeling! No solid proof. “Wait a minute! Why am I being moved to hell? Don’t I at least deserve heaven? Hey…..hey……anybody? Why am I not in heaven. I haven’t done anything particularly wrong!” He shouted half expecting an answer.  “Wait a minute!.....

Chapter 20- Till He Drops!
Wilson ran directly into the forest. He ran non-stop for about half an hour. But Wilson could feel something was wrong. He just couldn't put his finger on it. What was it that kept eating at him? He could not tell. He slid to a stop and tried to figure it out. He couldn't, so he continued running trying to reach the end of the forest and return to the wooden house before dusk. He didn't like obeying the old man but was afraid of what he might do to him if he dared to disobey. Old and bent men like him were usually sick in the head. They could attack for the most petty reasons.Soon enough, he stopped. There didn't seem to be a river in sight. He realized that he did not know the forest. He barely left the cabin anyway. He might very well have gone the wrong way. He looked back and tried to remember where he passed but that was a futile endeavour. He was not paying attention and could not remember his way back. He was hopelessly lost in the woods.*************In the
