Chapter 41: Abducted?
“Then, do you have a secret?” I was stunned by Chris’s question. My heart was beating furiously along with my heavy breathing, but I immediately calmed myself. I should not show him that his words affected me. “What secret, Chris?” I asked. We stared at each other for a couple of seconds, then he suddenly laughed and averted his gaze. “Nothing, Gands. You’re too serious!” he muttered without looking at me.  “How about you? Are you hiding something from us?” my question made him turn at me in a second. Even if I wasn’t sure, Chris was startled in a brick of time, but he hid it immediately.  Even though we’re not in the same situation, I’m sure with the slight movements he made, he’s also hiding something just like what I did. He’s been acting strange lately.  Chris shrugge

Chapter 42: Triggered Thoughts
When I opened my eyes, I felt pain in my neck. I groaned softly and moved to adjust myself because I had an uncomfortable position.  The only thing that came inside my mind after regaining my consciousness was that I was abducted.  I quickly rolled my eyes after recalling what had happened. I was currently lying on the floor, so perhaps my body hurt because of the hard cement. The place is bright and relaxing while surrounded by white decors. My eyes are still drowsy; maybe it’s because of the tiredness I feel and what happened earlier. I don’t know where I am or who did this to me. Is this another one of our pursuers? “You are awake.” an unfamiliar voice from a man abruptly caught my attention. I immediately roamed my eyes, and when it landed in front of me, a man was staring at me intensely.  I also stared at him for a couple of seconds, t

Chapter 43: The Revenge He Wants
“I was your father’s mortal enemy when he was still alive.” I stared at the man in front of me. I’m not sure, but I think I heard that name before.  “A terrorist, huh?” I mumbled. “If you are my father’s enemy, why are you treating me like this?” “How should the prisoner be treated?” my lips quivered at his question. Ramage turned his gaze to my back and quickly returned it to me as well.  “You are more interested in the death of my father. Should you be grateful because he’s already gone?” I uttered, but there’s a pain forming in my chest. But, I also need to know why this man brought me here and why he thinks that what happened six years ago was an incident.  “You are right.” he stared at me, still wearing the dominant look in his eyes. “Should I be happy? It’s been a dec

Chapter 44: A Deal
“GD!” Tara hissed when I entered the hideout. Without hesitation, she opened her arms and hugged me when I reached her. “What happened to you? Chris said that you suddenly disappeared after borrowing his phone. Are you alright?” she asked after pulling the hug. “I’m fine. Sorry for making you guys worry.” I mumbled and smiled.  “Where have you been?” I turned my eyes behind Tara and saw the twins walking in our direction, “You suddenly disappeared like a bubble, leaving my phone behind.” Chris added, but there’s worry in his eyes.  “Something urgent came up.”  “More important that made you leave my phone on the pavement?” I just stared at Chris without answering his question. I 1could sense that he was worried, but he was acting cocky.  “Don’t mind him,

Chapter 45: The Lists
“What thing made your mind change?” he asked after I sat down in front of him. I did not answer and kept my eyes on his blue yet flaming stares.  We are seated on both sides, separated by a metal table with a laptop and corporate folder. Just like before, we are surrounded by walls. After we set the schedule for this operation, one of Ramage’s men picked me up.  “Cut to the chase. What are the things we need to do?” I said. While staring at him, I can’t help myself but think if he was really my father and the City’s enemy. That thought supports his appearance, but the thing is, he was talking in front of me casually.  “Galeo has a lot of opponents in the past up until now.” Ramage started. I just raised my left brow as a sign for him to continue, “I was one of them, and I know how it feels to be turned down. I seek revenge.” my forehead wrin

Chapter 46: He was Zygo’s Secretary
I stared at the list for a couple of seconds, ensuring that I read the correct name. I immediately closed my eyes along with the folder in my hands.  I opened my eyes again and looked ahead; the driver was already waiting for me. I did not waste any more time and walked into the car. When I entered the vehicle, the driver immediately started the engine and left the current place.  While inside the car, my phone suddenly rang. I lowered the corporate folder I was holding to my side before looking at my phone. It was a notification coming from our group chat.  Chris: What’s the matter, Gands? Tara: Are you alright? Why would you be gone for so long, GD? Clark: If you have any problems, Dhara. You can talk to us.  Chris: We can’t let you go for that long without telling us the reason.  Oh, right! I did no

Chapter 47: An Admirer
“Miss Alejandro, here are the things you told me to look into,” Jay mumbled as he reached a pile of folders in front of me. I removed the eyeglass from my face and took the files from his hands. “I don’t expect you to finish it in such a short time,” I said and stared at his wakeful eyes. It’s been three days since I ordered him to take a background check on those names. I thought that it would take a week before he could comply with everything.  “There is no point in staying awake late if I can’t finish this. Do you need something else?” I shrugged.  “I will call you if I do. Anyways, you should take a rest. Thank you, Jay.” he nodded and immediately left my office. Also, for three days, I was just in the office and waiting for Jay’s update about what I told him to do.  I let out a deep sigh and leaned on the head

Chapter 48: Why did you lie?
“I’ve been looking after her for a long time.” my brows knitted on Denver’s words. I stared at him to see if he was joking, but he was wearing an intense expression.   “What do you mean?”  “I liked her since then.” my left brow raised. This man knew Tara? How come? “Are you serious?” I asked, but I calmed myself from shouting. Denver nodded. “So, do you know each other?” he nodded. I remained silent as I observed him. I can see that he’s not lying, and he answered my questions wholeheartedly, but why did Tara say he met with a stranger? Is my friend lying? “I know that it’s hard to believe my words, Ma’am, but we once go to the same University.” I let out a deep sigh. Tara did not mention this; I mean, I came into her life after she went to University.

Chapter 49: I Missed You
“Why did you lie?” I asked that, making Tara’s brows raise. There’s a puzzled look on her face.  “Huh?” I gave her a stingy smile and cupped her hands. I let out a deep sigh. I rushed here because of this, and backing down will put it to waste. I need to ask Tara directly!  “That baby in your womb...” I stared at her eyes for a second, then brought my gaze to her belly. “You don’t really know who the father of that child is?” I asked and looked back at her. From her bewildered expression, it changed into apprehension. “Don’t lie, please,” I added that, making her lips wary.  It took a moment before Tara let out a frustrated sigh and took her hands from me. She brought her eyes in front with her face as long as a fiddle. “Yes, I lied. I’m sorry, GD.” Tara apologizes without looking at m

Chapter 50: Unexpected Visitors
The next day, I woke up while my body was in pain. I screamed silently as I sat up from lying down. I closed my eyes and tried to remember what happened last night.  “I missed you.” I almost choked when Zygo’s voice suddenly came inside my mind. I don’t know, but my body suddenly feels hot. Gosh! What is he thinking? Saying those words in front of me while I was drunk!  Remembering what happened last night just worsens what I’m feeling right now. I let out a deep sigh as I roamed my eyes around the place. I was really in my room. Well, thanks for that tycoon. Even if I could go home without anyone’s company, he insisted just to make sure that I arrived safe and sound.  I closed my eyes for a moment and then opened, looking directly at the glass wall in front of me while some of the sun rays were hitting my direction. It was kind of nostalgic in this
