Keerthi yawned as she switched the TV on. She wanted to keep herself occupied while she waited for her husband. It was after eleven thirty already. She adjusted the cushion under her shoulders, shuffling random channels. Vikram was surprised to see his wife asleep on the couch, with the television running when he came home. He switched the TV off, as he went to take a warm shower. He changed quietly, flexing his arms as he sat in front of his wife,on the table in front of the couch,observing her. He tucked a loose strand behind her ear, getting a clearer view of her face,his finger tips lingering on her ear lobule. He didn't feel tired though it was past midnight. He stared at his wife for a while more,when he saw her moving her neck,scrunching her face.

Keerthi woke up to the sound of bath running,as she sat up ,yawning."Why are you getting ready so early?""I have to leave early", Vikram tilted his chin up, wearing a tie around his neck."Okay", Keerthi replied, getting up to freshen up.Vikram was arranging some papers in his laptop bag when his eyes fell on the gift wrapped item. He took it out, quickly placing it his closet, knowing Keerthi didn't mess with his things usually.He went back to checking the papers,arranging them in a folder,as he zipped his laptop bag,when he heard his wife walk out, getting ready.Vikram had long left their room when Keerthi made way downstairs

"You have a beautiful daughter in law Sakshi",Mrs. Oberoi said.Keerthi gave the elder lady a polite smile as she stood next to her mother in law, breathing a sigh of relief when she got away from her husband.Keerthi wondered how he could make her feel diverse emotions. She loved his company some times,and at times,she couldn't stand him.She switched her thoughts off , getting into a conversation with the ladies,who were determined to include her in their talks.Keerthi's jaw ached from smiling so long,it was getting difficult to be polite and smiling. And she almost tripped on her saree three times already. She just wanted to go home. She ate silently,hoping to leave after dinner.

She knew he was only human.Each had their set of imperfections. Her husband had his, just like she had hers'. They had to accept the others' imperfections and move on. Vikram was surprised to see everyone in the living room, chatting away when he had arrived from work.He greeted his parents,slapped the back of his brother's head and gave his wife a smile."Make me a coffee,yeah?", Vikram said, looking between his wife and mother.Keerthi smiled,walking into the kitchen as her husband went upstairs to freshen up.Vikram freshened up,taking his laptop and charger with him as he sat on the couch. He wanted to spend some time with his family.Though he probably wouldn't contribute to the conversation,he wanted to be in their presence.Work had kept him busy the past few days.
