Chapter 31: Engagement Party
LUCREZIAMy engagement party is as grand as father had promised it to be. Despite the fact that we rented the venue at a different date and the caterers were given a short notice to cater for us today, everything looked well thought and well prepared. You couldn’t tell how much effort were done to make this party possible at a very short time. Everything went well as if everyone had enough time for the preparation. My father was very insistent to make this engagement happen today that he made sure that everything would go the way he wanted it to be. Even his guests couldn’t complain. They have to come because it was him who invited them to come. Aside from the whole venue, I also look good in this sweet white dress that covers even the heels of my feet. It touches the grass as I walk and I couldn’t help it but feel like I was Aphrodite strolling at a garden in Mount Olympus. My dress is simple and sweet. It doesn’t cling to my body tight, unlike the usual

Chapter 32: Guilty Suspect
PIETROEyes were on my car when we drove into the venue. I haven’t shown myself yet, but we are already stealing the people’s attention. Who wouldn’t look at the car that I brought. It was the cheapest car that ever drove in to the venue as if we were a joke. When people saw us coming, they stared at us with ridicule then left disinterested. They must have thought that we were just a bunch of nobodies who weren’t informed that rich guys were occupying the area and we aren’t allowed here. They had no idea that the man they were waiting for, the host of the party is inside the vehicle. Pericles and I had no time to change cars. We left in haste and drove directly towards the venue as soon as Pericles had arrived to help me tend with my wounds. We were racing with time that we both never thought we would be so lucky to even arrive at the venue thirty minutes ahead of time.We were just hoping that we will arrive at the venue on time at best, but I guess I shouldn’t have underestimated

Chapter 33: Eros and Raimondo
PIETROI stopped on my tracks when someone placed a hand above my shoulder. I glanced over my shoulder, staring at the hand placed above it. I immediately recognized it as Eros’s hand because of the ring on his finger.I turned around to face him, waiting for him to say something and explain why he had stopped me. Eros stared at me with a childish and playful smile on his face. He removed his hand from my shoulder when he finally caught my full attention.“Congratulations!” He said. His voice sounded so sincere and he doesn’t look like he is hiding any grudges against me.It is as if he wasn’t just planning to marry Lucrezia, before I swept in and ruined his plans, stealing an opportunity from him.I gave him an emotionless look, not fully trusting him. He could just be pretending that everything is still well between us. Behind that facade, he could already be thinking of how he’s going to strike a score with me.He raised the same hand he used to place in my shoulder to offer me a

Chapter 34: Trauma
LUCREZIAI watched as my father talked to Pietro. My grip on my champagne tightened as I observed the exchange between them. Even with this great distance between us, I could tell that father is giving Pietro a hard time. I don’t know if I should feel amuse or if I should feel bad about Pietro. I know how hard my father can be. I inherited that trait from him.Even though Pietro is more powerful than my father, it doesn’t stop him from pushing his buttons. My father loves to poke sticks on sleeping tigers. I sashayed towards them, to put their delightful conversation into a stop. I’m also curious about what they were talking about even though I know that they wouldn’t let me into their conversation.I slowed down when I have arrived at enough distance towards them. I was planning to hear some of their conversation, but I already arrived too late. The two is now done talking and they are having a staring contest instead. Chapter 35: Lucrezia finds out that Pietro is wounded
LUCREZIAPietro stared into my eyes as I looked at him worriedly. My eyes fell to his adam’s apple as it bobbed up and down upon my touch. His irises slowly turned to the corner of his eyes as he stared at my hand that was touching him so affectionately.I fluttered my hand away from his cheek, feeling flustered at what I just did. I’ve never touched a man like that before. He is also the first man that I ever came up this close with. I stepped back, to give us enough distance. He was too close that I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t believe that I just grabbed him like that. My body moved at its own accord because I was just to worried for his health.Pietro retches, making me flinch back, afraid that he would vomit on me. Pietro was able to hold himself as he continued to heave dryly.“What’s wrong?” I asked him as I tried to assist him.I held him, afraid that he would fall anytime.Pietro did not answer. he shuts his eyes and holds his forehead with one hand. I really have no choice but to stay on bed until my wound heals enough for me to move around. The doctor said that my wound wouldn’t have grown this serious if I didn’t pushed my body too much. If I didn’t forced myself to go to that engagement party, my body wouldn’t have to suffer so much damage.Aside from that, I wasn’t also able to do much when I came to the engagement party. I failed to have my chance to talk to Leuzzi and clarify why he

Chapter 37: Sibling Bond
LUCREZIAI wiped the tears away from my face using the back of my hands as I separate from Pericle’s hug. I took a stepped back and gave him a shy smile as I sniffed away the tears and looked up at him shyly. I was just so glad at the news that I heard from Pericles that I jumped and wrapped my hands around him. I must have startled him. Pericle’s looked at me with a frowning expression making me feel even more embarrassed. “I’m sorry,” I told him in a whisper as I hid my hands behind my back.“Are you okay?” Pericles asked me.I pursed my lips and nodded my head immediately, making my hair bounce at my sides.“Why do you seem…happy?” He asked me once again with a hint of hesitation in his voice. My brows drew together upon his question. Why shouldn’t I be happy? Didn’t he just tell me that Pietro is fine?“I told you that Pietro doesn’t want to see you. Why are you still happy?” Pericle changed his question when he saw how I got confused at his question. My smile was swept away wh

Chapter 38: The Plan
LUCREZIAI smiled at my sister’s resounding laugh. Instead of pointing her out, I stayed silent and giggled along with her, not wanting her to go back to the sour mood that she had. I secretly hoped that she had already forgotten that she was just mad at me. I looked up at her when she spoke as I go along with her.“You see? Even I were feeling second hand embarrassment from you,” she adds after her laughter had died down.I frowned once again when I remembered that she wasn’t just laughing earlier, she was laughing at me. “So what?” I asked, still acting ignorant and stubborn. “It’s the reason why Pietro and I became close to each other. If it wasn’t for that maybe we wouldn’t have been engaged by now.”“Yeah, you continue doing that and you are going to get dumped on your wedding day,” she muttered sarcastically making me frown. “Pietro’s going to realize that he made a mistake asking you for marriage.”“You’re just a pessimist. You always assume the worst that could happen.”“May
