Chapter 41 - Arya
By the time the sun is starting to go down, I get a mindlink from Gregory. The potion is ready. Alright. We’ll get everyone together and prepare to leave in the hour, I link back. Turning to my mate, I tell him, “They’re ready with the potion. Told Gregory to expect us in an hour.” He nods and I can tell by the absent look on his face that he’s mindlinking everyone. Huitzilopochtli looks at us, his hands held out at his side in a helpless gesture. “I wish there was something else that I could do for you, but I cannot enter Selene’s realm at all. Not unless she is there to extend the invitation. I truly think that the only reason that this spell will work for you is because you belong to that realm. That’s where you go when you die. And your mate’s soul will go there as well.” “Do you have any advice that will help us?” I ask. “She’s cocky. It’s with good reason, but it has also made her over confident. She likes to play with her meals. And it can make her…inattentive t

Chapter 42 - Devin
The plan is simple. Distract Ītzpāpālōtl with magic from the witches and attacks from the wolves. No one but those that already live in the Goddess Realm get close to her. They are already did and, while they can be hurt, they can’t die again. Arya and I are the only ones that go after her to stab her with the diamond swords, since we’re demi-gods. But everyone has a diamond sword just in case. Simple plan. Let’s just hope that the execution works just as well. Right before we leave, Hermes stops us. To tell the truth, I had forgotten that he was there. There was just a lot going on and I think I could be excused for forgetting that there was a Greek god in the room with us. “Wait. Let me bestow a gift on you all before you leave!” Hermes calls from the chair that he looks like he’s still having trouble sitting upright in. I look at him, confused. “Why are you still in such bad shape? Shouldn’t you be healing faster than that?” Hermes rolls his eyes at me. “If I coul

Chapter 43 - Xander
Seeing Arya fall from that height would have made my heart stop if I still had one that beat. I run towards her, trying to get there in time, but she crashes to the ground in a bone jarring thud. Still, I grab her, pulling her out of the way of the goddess’s sharp taloned feet. She’ll heal, she’s a werewolf and a demigod. But that’s only if she doesn’t die in the first place. Once I have Arya clear, I look up to see Devin still hanging on to the death deity’s hair, clinging on with all that he has. “Do it, Devin! Strike!” I scream to him. It’s now or never. We’re not going to get a second chance. She’s already acclimating to the magick that is being thrown at her and she’s knocked several of Arya’s family members on their asses when they go too close. I watch Devin pull his arm back and strike hard at the flesh between her back and her wing. Ītzpāpālōtl shrieks. A high, unearthly sound that pours through the air around us, seeming to surround us with more than just so

Chapter 44 - Tomas
Zoe and I are dozing in each other’s arms after our truly amazing mating when Kaia’s voice filters into the mindlink. Can I come in? she asks. Of course. I’m on my way, I tell her. Zoe murmurs something unintelligible when I extricate myself from her, but I shush her with a kiss on the forehead and she settles back into sleep. I pull on my pants and a t-shirt and go to the door. When I get to the door, Kaia’s standing there in an oversized pair of sweets and a tank top that is about two sizes too small. Her hair is a wild and tangled mess. All of this shows that she has been in her wolf form for a bit. She looks wild and beautiful. “Hey,” she says, her voice really quiet. She’s obviously embarrassed by our argument earlier. The fact that she’s here, though, isn’t at all what I was expecting. From what I’ve seen of Kaia, she wears her anger like armor. Anything to keep herself from getting hurt. I played into that unfortunately, but I’m hoping that we’ll be a

Chapter 45 - Nyx
Nathan’s words from last night keep playing over and over in my head and the fact that I don’t know whether or not to believe him is keeping me awake. When he pulled me away from Bella, he took me into one of the bedrooms on the plane, hoping to get a bit of privacy, but it felt way more intimate than it probably should have. I thanked Hecate that I thought to wear my descenting panties and packed a week’s worth in my suitcase. Because being in close quarters like that, in such a suggestive setting, put all kinds of thoughts into my mind. “Nyx, I, um…I wanted to talk to you about our bond,” Nathan said and my heart dropped. I knew it was too good to be true. “I understand, Nathan. I get it. You would never have picked for the two of us to be together and you want to get out of the matebond as soon as possible. It’s part of the reason that I’m working so hard to help us find a way to get to the gods and goddesses. Once we get Selene out, you and I will be able to fully reje

Chapter 46 - Nathan
I wake up, feeling like something is wrong. My wolf is going insane in my head and all I can think about is that it has to have something to do with Nyx. Knowing how close we were to her deranged mother and evil deities that would surely want her for her power, I had wanted to stay in the room with her tonight, but she refused me. I mean, I get it. With us trying to take everything slow and how hot and heavy everything got during our make up session on the plane, I get that she didn’t want me in her room because she was worried about how far things might go with us together. A part of me was a little smug that she didn’t trust herself around me. It let me know how much she wanted me. But it also meant that she kicked me out of her room. And unless I wanted to sleep on the floor outside of her room and alarm all of the humans at the hotel, I had to settle for getting a room beside hers. Now it seems I should have just allowed myself to creep out the humans, because something

Chapter 47 - Josefina
When we land in Norway, we already have cars waiting for us. We are meeting the fae and other shifters about an hour from here. Then we’ll go together to the gates of Valhalla. “How has Hermes left the door open for us?” Kai asks. “He put a wedge in that will respond to his magic. Magic that he embedded in my soul. It will show the entrance and open the gates,” I tell him, remembering the searing pain of having the trickster god impose his soul into me. I could see everything. Everything that he has experienced in his long, long life. All his hopes and fears, his triumphs and failures. Everything that he wants. Everything that he loves. And everything that he fears. But it wasn’t just him putting a piece of his soul in my body. No, this was an exchange of pieces. He has a part of me inside of him as well. And those pieces long to be back together. It’s part of what I have to talk to Jacob and Alexander about. Hermes didn’t just make me his messenger. He made m

Chapter 48 - Devin
Hermes will take us to see Hades and Persephone, but we’ve decided that we need a good rest first. Food, Maybe some fucking. I look over at Xander and Arya, seeing the glint of the after battle lust. Yup, fucking is definitely going to be happening tonight. But first, food. Healing takes a lot out of Arya and me and we need to replenish our energy with food. Luckily, Arya’s family knows how to whip up quick and delicious food. At least, enough of it to carry us over while the rest of the food is cooked. “We should all get a few hours’ sleep. Who knows how long this journey is going to be,” Xander says. “Agreed,” Hermes nods. “Though I would say that you need more than a few hours. Time flows differently in this Realm and since I’m the only god here, I can speed it up. You should be able to get a full night’s sleep and only have an hour pass in the outside world. Another meal in the morning and you’ll be ready to handle Tartarus, no problem.” His grin would be comical

Chapter 49 - Meredith
I really think that I’ve gotten hold of some kind of trippy herbs or something. I’m in the Underworld, with Hades and Persephone, and we went to the Greek paradise to find Odysseus. The hero of the Greeks in the Trojan War. Supposedly one of the smartest men of his time. I mean, wouldn’t you think that you were on some kind of acid trip? “Why do we need Odysseus?” I ask. “He and Dante are the only two mortals who have ever gone to Tartarus and made it out. And Dante isn’t much of a fighter. Odysseus will help keep you safe while guiding you to where you need to go,” the Lord of the Dead says. “Come! We must hurry!” Persephone says again. Odysseus nods, grabbing a walking stick from just inside his door. “I am ready.” “I can transport you to the edge of the Asphodel Fields. That is where you’ll find the entrance to Tartarus,” Lord Hades tells us. “Good luck, heroes. For all of our sakes, I hope that you make it.” And then, with a flick of his wrist, we are whiske

Chapter 50 - Nyx
I wake up slowly. The bed beneath me feels different. It’s softer, the sheets silkier. There’s a weird scent in the air, as well. It’s salty. Like being around the sea, which it should be in Ios, but it smells…like frost? You know how cold can have a smell? But I’m not cold. On the contrary, the breeze that must be coming from a window is refreshing because of the heat that can only be coming from a fire on my side and the heat and weight of thick blankets over me. I pull on my arms, which are raised above my head as I lay on my back, but they won’t move. That’s what finally pulls me out of my half awake, half asleep state. My eyes fly open and, in the brief glance that I spare around the room, I realize that I have no idea where I am. But that’s not what I’m worried about at the moment. Right now, I’m worried about why my arms won’t move. I pull at my arms harder and hear a jingling as I look up to see what’s going on. I’m fucking shackled to the headboard. There
