Kara groggily opened her eyes, disoriented at first. But when she saw the white ceilings and walls and her nostrils were filled with the familiar antiseptic smell of the hospital, she relaxed. Kara woke up feeling rested. She yawned and stretched her arms and legs, belatedly noticing that a comforter covered her body. Her eyes wandered around, surprised when she saw Marco Bonacci sprawled on the one-seater couch adjacent to her. Guiltily, she sat upright. She did not intend to sleep on him.  Such a lousy host.The sudden movement made Kara’s stomach feel queasy. Her world started to spin, and her stomach lurched. Evan worked fast.  He quickly located Dr. James and snatched him away.  Dr. James just got out of his car outside his residence when a man walked up to him.   He did not think much of it.  He closed the door of his car and faced the man.   The man, though tall, looked ordinary.  He also looked lost.  He approached the man, ready to help, when the man clobbered him, put a sack over his head, and carried him away.  He was surprised at the sudden attack.  His head ached at the hit.  

After making sure that their baby was fine, Dr. Janet gave them the clear go.Kara still could not believe what was happening. She pinched herself several times.  It was too good to be true. She was so sure that she was going to lose her baby and cried herself to sleep every time she thought about it. “What are you doing?” Nico wrapped her hand with his to keep them from pinching her flawless skin. Kara sucked on her lower lip before she replied, suddenly feeling shy.“I just could not believe that our baby…”  She touched her tummy reverently, and her facial expression took on a special maternal glow that blinded Nico Bernardi on the spot. His gaze softened.  “I understand how you feel.”Kara’s eyes started to brim with tears.  “Are you really happy about the baby?” “Of course. When Nico left the room, the back of Kara's eyes slowly flickered, indicating she was awake.  Moments later, she opened them.  Outside her room, she heard him give instructions to his men.  He posted guards outside the master’s bedroom. Quietly so as not to alert the men outside the room, Kara tiptoed her way to the balcony. She acted on the sudden urge to catch a glimpse of Nico Bernardi before he left for the office. Kara does not know why, but she feels a certain kind of longing that only Nico could fill.  She could not explain it, but she already missed him. It must be part of her pregnancy. The baby wanted to see his father, and she, as the mother, will indulge him. Unconsciously, her hands caressed her stomach while she looked at the spectacular view outside. The balcony allows her to see this. The trees, with their leaves changing hues, indicating that the season has started to
