Chapter Forty - The Search For Evelyn
Zephyrus’ POVI couldn’t wait to wrap this up and return to our little log cabin. I loved Lena’s idea immensely of a honeymoon. She was right! I wanted this to be more a sexcapade than anything else. She had no idea about the sinful thoughts invading my mind all the time. I didn’t just desire her. I pined for her, craved her with every cell of my body, with every breath I took. It was so deep-rooted inside me, I sometimes feared I would crush her with the intensity of my feelings for her. Of course, the mission would be our priority, but I wanted to explore this attraction we felt for one another. I wanted her to fall in love with me the same way I did for her. I could do anything to make her fall for me. Although patience wasn’t one of my virtues, it was strange how I could wait so patiently for her to fall in love with me. Yet I couldn’t wait to get inside her again. The sight of her curvy body, waiting for my touch, always had turned me on, but I tried my best to restrain my urges

Chapter Forty-One – All Hopes Dashed
Zephyrus’ POVI cautiously inched towards the closed door and a sense of dread clutched at my heart. The clawing sounds from inside became clearer with every step I took toward it. Now I was sure someone was trapped inside. “Be careful, Zephyrus!” Lena’s panic-stricken voice echoed from the entrance. “I’m fine!” I comforted her when a growl erupted from the other side of the closed door. So, it was an animal trapped inside. I didn’t fear anyone. The animal trapped inside couldn’t be more ferocious than I was! I kicked open the door and waited for it to attack me. The stench inside the room was suffocating me, yet I had to check this out. When nothing emerged from the room, I went inside to check. A whimper from the corner of the room made me search for the animal. The room was in a state of mess, but I could clearly see an enormous cage behind a broken partition in the corner. With more broken cages lying vacant around the room, it looked more like a prison to me. Maybe this was whe

Chapter Forty-Two - A Promise To Him
Zephyrus’ POV: After the phone call, I felt relieved. Hazel would stay with Lena until I returned. I wanted her to accompany me, but I changed my mind at seeing Hera’s disturbed state. However, Hera’s behavior towards my mate worried me. I didn’t address the issue now since Hera wasn’t in her right senses, but if it continued, I would definitely have to talk to her. Lena was my fated mate, and I would always stand up for her, even against my sibling, if she was wrong. We flew over the dark, looming, mountainous terrain towards Hay River in silence. Leandros and Lyra were exceptionally quiet since the time we boarded my helicopter. Hera looked relieved as she rested with her eyes closed. I wanted to meet Lena before I left, but with Leandros waiting outside, I couldn’t take the risk. I had expected Leandros to escape with Lyra. Anything was possible for him! I knew his reckless nature so well! Thankfully, he didn’t, or Hera would have driven me crazy. It was almost 9 o’clock when

Chapter Forty-Three - Marking Him In Return
Lena’s POVI relished every bite of the food he made for me. “Which is your favorite food?” he asked, making me ponder over his question. I didn’t have favorites. I loved anything that tasted great. “I don’t have any favorites. Whatever you make for me is my favorite!” I admitted honestly. He really had magic in his hands.“Even Hera says so. She loves everything I make for her.” I smiled at his candid admission. “Understandable! You two have been inseparable until now. So, who else loves you for your culinary skills? Did you use food to impress the entire female population of your kingdom?” I couldn’t hide the jealousy in my tone. What could I do? I was bursting with jealousy. Not for Hera, but for the other women in his life. He was a descendant of the royal family. His good looks and fighting skills should be an added attraction for the females of Aromania. Then how was he still single? He chuckled instead of answering me, taking the time to chew his food while I was bursting wi

Chapter Forty-Four - Trapped In A Log Cabin With Her
Zephyrus’ POVThe feel of her warm tongue on the mark turned me on. I ached to knot her like I had never done before. Now I knew how she felt when I touched the mark I gave her. I smiled at her impulsive move! She was so unique, marking me the way I had marked her. I didn’t know if any Alpha had ever been marked this way, but I didn’t care. I was hers and she had the right to mark me.I had never in my wildest imagination expected to feel this euphoric. My mind was in emotional turmoil as she raised her head and looked at me. I drowned in her beautiful blue eyes, finally giving in to the temptation. Reaching out, I grabbed her cheeks to devour her lips. She purred with delight and it drove me crazy. I needed her so badly. I could never have had enough of her. “Kiss me, Zy!” she whispered, her hands caressing my cheek. I stilled, loving the name immensely. It made me feel cherished, as if she loved me. No one had ever called me that. “I love you, Lenn!” She smiled and closed her ey

Chapter Forty-Five - Footprints On The Snow
Zephyrus’ POVI strode towards the main entrance to check the footprints Lena had just mentioned. With the heavy snowfall, it should have been covered up already. Just as I had expected, I opened the main door and found no footprints outside. Getting a shovel, I went out, yet there were no traces of footprints anywhere. The snow had covered them all. I returned to the cabin with a frown, wondering if it was Romanov. No, it couldn’t be. He would have returned alone. I looked at Lena’s agitated face and smiled to relax her. I didn’t want her to worry unnecessarily. Whoever they were, I could easily fight them single-handedly. “Did you see the footprints?” I shook my head, making her frown. “No, the snow might have covered them up. So, what type of footprints were they? Human or animal?” Her frown deepened as she tried hard to recollect. “I think similar to ours.” I was immediately on high alert. Were we trespassing in someone’s territory? I needed to call Stavros to find out from th

Chapter Forty-Six - Who Were The Intruders?
Lena’s POVI gripped my dagger as I waited for Zephyrus to open the door. If he had expected me to hide while he fought the enemy, he was wrong. I could quite help him in any fight. However, Zephyrus relaxed as he went near the main door. Maybe he had recognized the creature on the doorstep. He opened the door with a look of relief to see David standing there, covered in snow. “Hey, Alpha! I just dropped by in case you needed something!” I gave him a look of relief, although Zephyrus didn’t look surprised by his presence. “Come in. We’re in a fix.” He opened the door wider to allow David inside. “What’s up, Alpha?” He looked at Zephyrus with concern. “Did you see any footprints in the snow? Or maybe someone outside the cabin?” David shook his head but scrunched up his nose. “No, but there’s a strange scent around the cabin. I’m sure there are notorious wolves around here. Being a rogue for five years, I’ve learned to differentiate between scents.” Zephyrus looked excited while I

Chapter Forty-Seven - What Was Going On?
Lena’s POVI stopped instantly, realizing the purr was emanating from Zephyrus’ chest. It wasn’t a satisfied sound at all. It was like an angry hum! “Who were you talking to for so long, Zephyrus?” He grunted in response and stormed into the kitchen. I frowned at his change in attitude. What happened to him? What did I do now? I placed the tray on the table and followed him to the kitchen to see him pick up a bottle of water. The angry hum had transformed into a low growl by now. It seemed he was immensely angry, but with whom? Was he angry with me? I just couldn’t understand what I had done now to deserve this treatment.“What’s wrong?” I asked, coming to a stop beside him. He snorted as he chopped the vegetables and dumped them in a pan with the meat. I couldn’t figure out what he was making. I had made sandwiches already. “What about the sandwiches I made?” He grunted again, not answering me at all. What was wrong? I walked out of the kitchen, frustrated by his lack of response.

Chapter Forty-Eight - Hera’s Predicament
Lena’s POV Hera’s reaction to my presence shocked me immensely. Didn’t Zephyrus inform her about us? I didn’t like her at all, despite Hazel’s claims. “Yes. She’s my mate, Hera!” he stated, but Hera scoffed at him. “Really? I thought you didn’t believe in that?” She brushed past me without acknowledging my presence. I glanced at Zephyrus, feeling insulted by his only family. What had I done to deserve this? “I’m sorry on her behalf. She’ll come around.” He caught my hand and followed his twin, but I didn’t wish to join them. I could hear squeals echoing through the house as Hera and Hazel met in the living room. As we walked inside, they sobered and Hera glared at me again. Suddenly, I had the wish to disappear from the house. “Sit, Lena, please,” Zephyrus leaned in to whisper. How did he know I was contemplating an escape? “You both carry on. I’ll make dinner.” He pulled me down on the sofa beside him, paying no heed to my excuses. I could feel Hera’s angry gaze pinned on me wh
